It can be stressful at times but very lucrative for your time. Have you ever wondered how much does the average waitress/waiter make a year or how much money do you make as a waiter? Well today I'm going to share my experience as a server. This is one of my best paying part time jobs that allow me to take home cash every night and make more than minimum wage. How much you make as a food sever really depends on the company or venue that you work for. For example a waiter in working at IHOP usually won't make more than a server working at Olive Garden or Red Lobster. The higher your check average is most likely determines how much you will make per table per night. I've been a waiter for over 14 years and still do it because it is easy money and I enjoy meeting new people and providing excellent service. Serving is one of the best jobs that does not require a degree. Some question that you might have:
How much can a decent server expect to earn in a week?
$50/day or $250/wk or $13,000 per year in tips
$100/day or $500/wk or $26,000 per year in tips
$200/day or $1000/wk or $52,000 per year in tips
$300/day or $1500/wk or $78,000 per year in tips
I'm a server on the side to make extra money and make about $150/day or $750/wk or $39,000 per year in tips.
How to make more money as a server, bartender, or cocktail waiter/waitress?
Find a venue/restaurant/establishment that has high end foods & beverage. Make sure the place you are going to work at has consistent high volume, high check average, and has a high percentage or returning guest or the establishment has a track record of amazing feedback on Yelp or Trip Advisor etc. Some of the best places to work are casino, PF Changs, Bonefish Grill, high end local restaurants/bars, etc.
Best paying server/waiter/waitress jobs in the United States?
Cities generally pay the most. Waiters and waitresses in Miami, Boston, and San Francisco usually have the highest median tips per hour. Casino and fine dining restaurants usually pay very well.
Is being a sever or waiter/waitress stressful?
It can be stressful depending on the night, usually a fast pace environment, and lots of walking and talking.
Is severing a good part time job while in school or college?
Yes, if you can balance your schedule with working a few hours at a job then go for it. I personally have used my part time serving job to pay for my college tuition and never needed a college loan. I also have friends that went to law school, medical school, nursing, EMT training, military, etc. and worked part time serving at a restaurant to make a little extra money on there breaks or down time.
How much should a waitress get paid?
Some establishments include the tip on the bill but most places people are not obligated to tip the server. A good tip is anywhere from 15% to 20% or the total bill. Some people will stiff you and give you $0 while others are overly generous.
How much do servers make without tips?
I personally make a wage of $6.20/hr but I've seen a range of $2-$10/hr without tip.
How much do servers make with tips?
I've made anywhere from $120-$750 in one day. It is really not consistent but it is best to take an average of a week of work.
