How to Get Current Location Latitude and Longitude in Android Studio Example Subscribe To My Channel and Get More Great Tutorials http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=sandeepbhandari1 This tutorial describes how to get the current location in android app development, through the following steps: 1) We create a new project in an android studio with new project wizard and choose empty activity form the wizard in our project. 2) We go to android man-fist file and add the ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION permission to Application tag. 3) We add Google Play Services to the gradle file through the project structure, and sync the project. 4) We go to activity_main.xml file, and we add one a Button with “get Location” text and after that we add a text-view with id “location” to it. 5) Then we go to MainActivity.java file, and we add onClickListenser on the Button. And we implement the onClick Method to get the current location and display it to the text view. 6) We implement a request permission method to prompt the user for location permission. 5) Finally we deploy and run the app to the android emulator. Google Play Services: 1) With Google Play services, your app can take advantage of the latest, Google-powered features such as Maps, Google+, and more, with automatic platform updates distributed as an APK through the Google Play store. This makes it faster for your users to receive updates and easier for you to integrate the newest that Google has to offer. 2) The client library contains the interfaces to the individual Google services and allows you to obtain authorization from users to gain access to these services with their credentials. It also contains APIs that allow you to resolve any issues at runtime, such as a missing, disabled, or out-of-date Google Play services APK. How to Get Data From RESTful Webservice in Android Using JSON and OKHTTP Subscribe To My Channel and Get More Great Tutorials http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=sandeepbhandari1 This tutorial describes how to receiving JSON data from REST service in android. We used OKHTTP instead of built in Http client as it has a lot of benefits and lots of functionality over the built in Http client. This is an open source library from the giant company “Sqaure”. OKHTTP is an open source project designed to be an efficient HTTP client. It supports the SPDY protocol. SPDY is the basis for HTTP 2.0 and allows multiple HTTP requests to be multiplexed over one socket connection. There are alternative libraries to OKHTTP, such as Volley. Volley is an open source library form Google and officially supported. As they mentioned on their website Volley offers the following benefits: • Automatic scheduling of network requests. • Multiple concurrent network connections. • Transparent disk and memory response caching with standard HTTP cache coherence. • Support for request prioritization. • Cancellation request API. You can cancel a single request, or you can set blocks or scopes of requests to cancel. • Ease of customization, for example, for retry and backoff. • Strong ordering that makes it easy to correctly populate your UI with data fetched asynchronously from the network. • Debugging and tracing tools. You will see we change the style of App in AndroidManifest.xml to DeviceDefault because we want to get rid of the customization done by Android Studio by default for our app. The source code is available at http://www.indragni.com/android/HideTitleBarWithCode.rar ►Android Developer Figurine◄ ►Android Mini Collectible Figure (India): http://amzn.to/2CQRMXp ►Android Mini Collectible Figure (US): http://amzn.to/2CNO8Kk ►Android Mini Collectible Figures (India): http://amzn.to/2CRanmh ►Android Mini Collectible Figures (US): http://amzn.to/2CN6bmI ►New and Updated Android ASO Book◄ ►Ultimate Guide to Android ASO: Boost android app (India): https://www.amazon.in/Ultimate-Guide-Android-ASO-android-ebook/dp/B0156P9YEQ ►Ultimate Guide to Android ASO: Boost android app (US): https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Guide-Android-ASO-android-ebook/dp/B0156P9YEQ ►Android Developer Books◄ ►For Beginners◄ ►Head First Android Development (India): http://amzn.to/2CQlZpB ►Head First Android Development (US): http://amzn.to/2lNRjtC ►Android Programming for Beginners (India): http://amzn.to/2CR6dKU ►Android Programming for Beginners (US): http://amzn.to/2F8zZsg ►Mastering Android Development with Kotlin (India): http://amzn.to/2m9R8tp ►Mastering Android Development with Kotlin (US): http://amzn.to/2F5ATFX ►Learning Java by Building Android Games (India): http://amzn.to/2CRaX3r ►Learning Java by Building Android Games (US): http://amzn.to/2CYYS8W ►For Experts◄ ►Expert Android Programming (India): http://amzn.to/2D4MCUD ►Expert Android Programming (US): http://amzn.to/2CXf8qV ►Android Programming: The Big Nerd Ranch Guide (India): http://amzn.to/2Fbb7Qw ►Android Programming: The Big Nerd Ranch Guide (US): http://amzn.to/2F4LbWJ ►Android Cookbook (India): http://amzn.to/2COhzys ►Android Cookbook (US): http://amzn.to/2CHSmG3 ►Murach's Android Programming (India): http://amzn.to/2AB7GPL ►Murach's Android Programming (US): http://amzn.to/2F4n76a ►Mastering Android NDK (India): http://amzn.to/2CMLY0S ►Mastering Android NDK (US): http://amzn.to/2F4M3KZ ►Android High Performance Programming (India): http://amzn.to/2Fc2Vzh ►Android High Performance Programming (US): http://amzn.to/2qAruCQ ►Advanced Android Application Development (India): http://amzn.to/2D3uvhv ►Advanced Android Application Development (US): http://amzn.to/2CzoBDM ►Android Developer Gadgets◄ ►USB C Cable (India): http://amzn.to/2ACjEIw ►USB C Cable (US): http://amzn.to/2F2dZ22 ►Anker Micro USB to USB C Adapter (India): http://amzn.to/2F9SFrD ►Anker Micro USB to USB C Adapter (US): http://amzn.to/2CzEFFH ►Samsung Gear S3 Frontier (India): http://amzn.to/2COVfWm ►Samsung Gear S3 Frontier (US): http://amzn.to/2D1A4gL ►Sony Android Auto Media Receiver (India): http://amzn.to/2m9ripv ►Sony Android Auto Media Receiver (US): http://amzn.to/2Ef7SX9 How to Hide Title Bar Programmatically in Android Studio

Tutorial on how to make Multi Window Split Screen and Freedom Apps in Android Subscribe To My Channel and Get More Great Tutorials http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=sandeepbhandari1 This tutorial describes how to get starting with android multi screen windows split in android app development, through the following steps: 1) we create a new project in an android studio with new project wizard and choose empty activity form the wizard in our project. 2) then we create another activity called “SecondActivity” through new activity wizard as well. 3) we go to activity_main.xml file, and we add one text-view with “First Acivity” text and after that we add a button with text “Open Second Activity” on it. 4) then we go to MainActivity.java file, and we add onClickListenser on the Button. And we implement the onClick Method to open the second activity on multi window split screen mode. 5) then we go to second_main.xml file, and we add one text-view with “Second Acivity” text. 6) we go to android man-fist file and add “ android:resizeableActivity="true" “ attribute to our main activity tag. 5) Finally we deploy and run the app to the android emulator. Multi-Window Support: Android 7.0 adds support for displaying more than one app at the same time. On handheld devices, two apps can run side-by-side or one-above-the-other in split-screen mode. On TV devices, apps can use picture-in-picture mode to continue video playback while users are interacting with another app. Android allows several apps to share the screen at once. For example, a user could split the screen, viewing a web page on the left side while composing an email on the right side. How to set global variables in Application context

07:22
How to set global variables in Application context Subscribe To My Channel and Get More Great Tutorials http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=sandeepbhandari1 This tutorial describes how to define variable in application context and you can use this variable as a Global variable in android, through the following steps: 1) we create a new project in an android studio with new project wizard and choose empty activity form the wizard in our project. 2) we create a class called GlobalClass.java that extends android.app.Application class, then we create two member variables with their setters and getters. 3) we go to the manifest and add the application class to the application tag. 3) we then go to activity_main.xml file and add a button. 4) then we go to MainActivity.java class and get the button, add click listener on it that goes to another activity when clicked and we set the email and the name values in our global class after we get it using getApplicationContext() method. 5) we create another activity called “SecondActivity”. 5) then we go to activity_second.xml file and we add four textviews. 6) in the SecondActivity.java we get the two text views, sets their text to the name and the email from our global class after we get it using getApplicationContext() method. 7) Finally we deploy and run the app to the android emulator. Notes: Android Application class: as described in the android documentations 1) it’s Base class for maintaining global application state. You can provide your own implementation by creating a subclass and specifying the fully-qualified name of this subclass as the "android:name" attribute in your AndroidManifest.xml's application tag. The Application class, or your subclass of the Application class, is instantiated before any other class when the process for your application/package is created. 2) There is normally no need to subclass Application. In most situations, static singletons can provide the same functionality in a more modular way. If your singleton needs a global context (for example to register broadcast receivers), include Context.getApplicationContext() as a Context argument when invoking your singleton's getInstance() method. How To Create Calendar View and Get Date In Android Application Subscribe To My Channel and Get More Great Tutorials http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=sandeepbhandari1 This tutorial describes how to create calender view and get curret date in android. Google developer android website describe this class as the following: 1) This class is a calendar widget for displaying and selecting dates. The range of dates supported by this calendar is configurable. 2)The exact appearance and interaction model of this widget may vary between OS versions and themes (e.g. Holo versus Material), but in general a user can select a date by tapping on it and can scroll or fling the calendar to a desired date. There are alternative libraries to provide an advanced calender view and most simpler such as the following libraries: 1) Android Times Square: Standalone Android widget for picking a single date from a calendar view. Link to website: https://github.com/square/android-times-square 2) Material Calendar View: A Material design back port of Android's CalendarView. The goal is to have a Material look and feel, rather than 100% parity with the platform's implementation. Difference between gravity and layout gravity on Android Subscribe To My Channel and Get More Great Tutorials http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=sandeepbhandari1 This tutorial describes how to layout gravity on views in android, through the following steps: 1) we create a new project in an android studio with new project wizard and choose empty activity form the wizard in our project. 2) we use the existing text-view to apply gravity=center to it and we deploy that to the emulator. 3) then we remove the text-view and add three more buttons. 4) for the first button we set attribute android:gravity="top". 5) for the second button we set android:layout_gravity="right" and android:gravity="bottom" attributes. 6) for the second button we set android:layout_gravity="left" and android:gravity="center" attributes. 7) Finally we deploy and run the app to the android emulator. Notes: 1) LinearLayout: as the android docs describe it a) A layout that arranges other views either horizontally in a single column or vertically in a single row. b) To control how linear layout aligns all the views it contains, set a value for android:gravity. c) You can set android:layout_weight on individual child views to specify how linear layout divides remaining space amongst the views it contains. 2) Gravity: described in android documentation as, Standard constants and tools for placing an object within a potentially larger container. How to Get Android Screen Size in Pixels and Inches Programmatically Subscribe To My Channel and Get More Great Tutorials http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=sandeepbhandari1 This tutorial describes how to get Android Screen Size in pixels and inches programmatically in android, through the following steps: 1) we create a new project in an android studio with new project wizard and choose empty activity form the wizard in our project. 2) we then go to activity_main.xml file and add three text views, each one for the following values: screen width in pixels, screen height in pixels and screen in inches. 3) then we go to MainActivity.java class and get the three text views. 4) we then create DisplayMetrics object, and use it to get the display metrics of the screen. 5) then we get the screen width, height, inches and then set each one to the textview. 6) Finally we deploy and run the app to the android emulator. Notes: 1) DisplayMetrics: as described in the android documentations, is a structure describing general information about a display, such as its size, density, and font scaling. To access the DisplayMetrics members, initialize an object like this: DisplayMetrics metrics = new DisplayMetrics(); getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay().getMetrics(metrics); 2) Display: as described in the android documentations; Provides information about the size and density of a logical display. The display area is described in two different ways. a- The application display area specifies the part of the display that may contain an application window, excluding the system decorations. The application display area may be smaller than the real display area because the system subtracts the space needed for decor elements such as the status bar. Use the following methods to query the application display area: getSize(Point), getRectSize(Rect) and getMetrics(DisplayMetrics). b- The real display area specifies the part of the display that contains content including the system decorations. Even so, the real display area may be smaller than the physical size of the display if the window manager is emulating a smaller display using (adb shell wm size). Use the following methods to query the real display area: getRealSize(Point), getRealMetrics(DisplayMetrics). Activity has leaked window that was originally added Subscribe To My Channel and Get More Great Tutorials http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=sandeepbhandari1 You can get this exception by just a simple/dumb mistake, by (for example) accidentally calling finish() after having displayed an AlertDialog. You're trying to show a Dialog after you've exited an Activity. The finish() method will close the Activity, but the AlertDialog is still displaying. Another case would be an unhandled Exception was thrown in an AsyncTask, which caused the Activity to shutdown. Apart from making sure activity doesn't get abrupt shutdown, you can call dismiss() on the Dialog instance you created before exiting your Activity. Notes: 1) URL: is a class that represents a Uniform Resource Locator, a pointer to a "resource" on the World Wide Web. A resource can be something as simple as a file or a directory, or it can be a reference to a more complicated object, such as a query to a database or to a search engine. 2) URLConnection: is the superclass of all classes that represent a communications link between the application and a URL. Instances of this class can be used both to read from and to write to the resource referenced by the URL. 3) ProgressDialog: A dialog showing a progress indicator and an optional text message or view. Only a text message or a view can be used at the same time. The dialog can be made cancelable on back key press and the progress range is 0 to max value. Android Tutorial on How to get Context in Static Way Subscribe To My Channel and Get More Great Tutorials http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=sandeepbhandari1 We need the android.os.Context object for a number of purposes like inter-activity communication, starting new activities and get package name of the android mobile app. An activity has the context object injected into it by the Android OS. But what will you do if you want to access the Context in non-acivity or plain java class. In this case we shall need to create a factory of context object which allows any Java class in our app to access the context object in static way whenever needed. The basic idea is same that of a singleton class with static access method. We will not run into multi threading issues when using the way demonstrated in this Android tutorial. CountDownTimer Tutorial with Code in Android Studio

CountDownTimer Tutorial with Code in Android Studio Subscribe To My Channel and Get More Great Tutorials http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=sandeepbhandari1 This tutorial describes how to use CountDownTimer class in android. Count Down Timer: The CountDownTimer class can be used to schedule a countdown timer until a time in the future, with regular notifications callbacks on intervals along the way. This class is an abstract class whose methods need to be overridden to implement it. Like we used it to implement a timer in our project, we created a new object of this abstract class passing to it two parameters: millisInFuture: which is the number of millis in the future from the call to start() until the countdown is done and countDownInterval: which is the interval along the way to receive onTick(long) callbacks , then override its two methods: onTick(long millisUntilFinished) and onFinish(), then we start the countdown by calling start on this object, and that's it. We can achieve the same thing in other ways such as using handlers and runnables. Handlers: they are easy is to use them and they can do a few things such as -Schedule and process messages -Schedule and execute Runnables -Perform its actions on a different Thread that a Handler was created in -Being reused as many times as needed The source code is available at http://www.indragni.com/android/CountDownTimer.rar ►Android Developer Figurine◄ ►Android Mini Collectible Figure (India): http://amzn.to/2CQRMXp ►Android Mini Collectible Figure (US): http://amzn.to/2CNO8Kk ►Android Mini Collectible Figures (India): http://amzn.to/2CRanmh ►Android Mini Collectible Figures (US): http://amzn.to/2CN6bmI ►New and Updated Android ASO Book◄ ►Ultimate Guide to Android ASO: Boost android app (India): https://www.amazon.in/Ultimate-Guide-Android-ASO-android-ebook/dp/B0156P9YEQ ►Ultimate Guide to Android ASO: Boost android app (US): https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Guide-Android-ASO-android-ebook/dp/B0156P9YEQ ►Android Developer Books◄ ►For Beginners◄ ►Head First Android Development (India): http://amzn.to/2CQlZpB ►Head First Android Development (US): http://amzn.to/2lNRjtC ►Android Programming for Beginners (India): http://amzn.to/2CR6dKU ►Android Programming for Beginners (US): http://amzn.to/2F8zZsg ►Mastering Android Development with Kotlin (India): http://amzn.to/2m9R8tp ►Mastering Android Development with Kotlin (US): http://amzn.to/2F5ATFX ►Learning Java by Building Android Games (India): http://amzn.to/2CRaX3r ►Learning Java by Building Android Games (US): http://amzn.to/2CYYS8W ►For Experts◄ ►Expert Android Programming (India): http://amzn.to/2D4MCUD ►Expert Android Programming (US): http://amzn.to/2CXf8qV ►Android Programming: The Big Nerd Ranch Guide (India): http://amzn.to/2Fbb7Qw ►Android Programming: The Big Nerd Ranch Guide (US): http://amzn.to/2F4LbWJ ►Android Cookbook (India): http://amzn.to/2COhzys ►Android Cookbook (US): http://amzn.to/2CHSmG3 ►Murach's Android Programming (India): http://amzn.to/2AB7GPL ►Murach's Android Programming (US): http://amzn.to/2F4n76a ►Mastering Android NDK (India): http://amzn.to/2CMLY0S ►Mastering Android NDK (US): http://amzn.to/2F4M3KZ ►Android High Performance Programming (India): http://amzn.to/2Fc2Vzh ►Android High Performance Programming (US): http://amzn.to/2qAruCQ ►Advanced Android Application Development (India): http://amzn.to/2D3uvhv ►Advanced Android Application Development (US): http://amzn.to/2CzoBDM ►Android Developer Gadgets◄ ►USB C Cable (India): http://amzn.to/2ACjEIw ►USB C Cable (US): http://amzn.to/2F2dZ22 ►Anker Micro USB to USB C Adapter (India): http://amzn.to/2F9SFrD ►Anker Micro USB to USB C Adapter (US): http://amzn.to/2CzEFFH ►Samsung Gear S3 Frontier (India): http://amzn.to/2COVfWm ►Samsung Gear S3 Frontier (US): http://amzn.to/2D1A4gL ►Sony Android Auto Media Receiver (India): http://amzn.to/2m9ripv ►Sony Android Auto Media Receiver (US): http://amzn.to/2Ef7SX9 CountDownTimer Tutorial with Code in Android Studio

Creating and Handling Android Activities with Kotlin in Android Apps

14:52
Creating and Handling Android Activities with Kotlin in Android Apps Subscribe To My Channel and Get More Great Tutorials http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=sandeepbhandari1 This tutorial describes how to use activities in android development with kotlin . through the following steps: 1) we create a new project in an android studio with new project wizard and enable support of kotlin in our project. 2) The android kotlin extensions library is already added to the project when creating new project. 3) we create activity, add a button and listview to it. 4) we create adapter and set the adapter on the listview. 5) we override the onActivityResult method and check to see if the request code is what we expect or not to add the result to the list of task in the UI. 5) we create another activty called “addTaskActivity”, then we add a textview, EditText to enter the task description and a button with text “done” on it, so the user can enter the task description then click done when finish. 5) Finally we deploy and run the app to the android emulator. Activities are one of the fundamental building blocks of apps on the Android platform. They serve as the entry point for a user's interaction with an app, and are also central to how a user navigates within an app (as with the Back button) or between apps (as with the Recents button). Skillfully managing activities allows you to ensure that, for example: • Orientation changes take place smoothly without disrupting the user experience. • User data is not lost during activity transitions. • The system kills processes when it's appropriate to do so.
