Why Iran's rial hit an all-time-low against the US dollar
Iran's currency, the rial, has hit an all-time record low against the U.S. dollar. Although several reasons for the slide have been put forward by economists - amongst them the strength of the dollar against other currencies in the last few weeks, and the uncertainty before Iran's presidential elections next year - many suggest the main reason is the election of Donald Trump in November. "Amongst external factors, there is the rise of interest rate in the United States which has added to the … READ MORE : http://www.euronews.com/2016/12/28/why-iran-s-rial-hit-an-all-time-low-against-the-us-dollar What are the top stories today? The foreign exchange market (or "forex" for short) is the biggest financial market in the world, with over $4 trillion worth of transactions occurring every day. Simply, forex is the market in which currencies, or money, are traded in the interbanking system. Forex Tutorial: What is Forex Trading? By Investopedia Staff What Is Forex? The foreign exchange market is the "place" where currencies are traded. Currencies are important to most people around the world, whether they realize it or not, because currencies need to be exchanged in order to conduct foreign trade and business. If you are living in the U.S. and want to buy cheese from France, either you or the company that you buy the cheese from has to pay the French for the cheese in euros (EUR). This means that the U.S. importer would have to exchange the equivalent value of U.S. dollars (USD) into euros. The same goes for traveling. A French tourist in Egypt can't pay in euros to see the pyramids because it's not the locally accepted currency. As such, the tourist has to exchange the euros for the local currency, in this case the Egyptian pound, at the current exchange rate. What is the spot market? More specifically, the spot market is where currencies are bought and sold according to the current price. That price, determined by supply and demand, is a reflection of many things, including current interest rates, economic performance, sentiment towards ongoing political situations (both locally and internationally), as well as the perception of the future performance of one currency against another. When a deal is finalized, this is known as a "spot deal". It is a bilateral transaction by which one party delivers an agreed-upon currency amount to the counter party and receives a specified amount of another currency at the agreed-upon exchange rate value. After a position is closed, the settlement is in cash. Although the spot market is commonly known as one that deals with transactions in the present (rather than the future), these trades actually take two days for settlement. Note that you'll see the terms: FX, forex, foreign-exchange market and currency market. These terms are synonymous and all refer to the forex market.

Brazil bank strike enters 30th day
A strike by bank workers across Brazil enters its 30th day. The strikers are pressing for a 15 percent pay hike. Talks were scheduled later in the day in a bid to end the deadlock and get bank branches across Latin America's biggest country reopened for frustrated customers. The strikers are seeking a pay increase to partly offset Brazil's inflation, currently at a nine percent annual rate. Bank employees continue to receive salaries while on strike, making work stoppages relatively painless. The walkout has shuttered bank branches for the longest stretch in a decade. End of Dollar Appreciation
http://www.forexconspiracyreport.com/end-of-dollar-appreciation/ End of Dollar Appreciation By www.ForexConspiracyReport.com After a year of angst about the Fed raising interest rates and driving the dollar up we are now hearing the experts talk about the end of dollar appreciation. Bloomberg Business reports that UBS Group AG is telling its clients to prepare for dollar rally’s end this next year. Money managers for Asia’s wealthiest families say they’ll be looking elsewhere for returns after chasing the U.S. dollar’s gains in the past three years. UBS Group AG, the world’s largest private bank, is telling clients there’s “little room for further dollar appreciation,” said James Purcell, cross-asset strategist at its wealth management business in Hong Kong. Stephen Diggle, who runs a family office in Singapore called Vulpes Investment Management, said U.S. rate increases aren’t enough “to chase a strong dollar.” Stamford Management Pte, which oversees $250 million for Asia’s rich, will review its outlook for greenback gains after expected advances in the first quarter, said Jason Wang, its chief executive officer in the city. Strategists also predict the dollar’s gains will slow in coming months after the Federal Reserve committed to a gradual pace of tightening. The currency will appreciate about 5 percent to $1.05 per euro by the third quarter of 2016, according to a Bloomberg survey, after surging 10 percent this year. Its advance versus the Japanese currency will be limited to less than 4 percent to 125 yen, after gains slowed to about 0.6 percent in 2015, from more than 10 percent in each of the previous three years. Is this analysis correct? Are we going to see the end of dollar appreciation? The Fed expects to keep raising interest rates but at a measured pace. Why did the panic of higher rates go away? And, of course, the dollar trades individually against other currencies. The most important currencies against which the dollar trades are the Euro, British pound, Japanese yen, Indian rupee, Russian ruble, Brazilian real, Canadian dollar, Australian dollar and Chinese renminbi. The most unstable relationship for the coming year is probably the USD/RNB. Whither Goes China and the USD/RNB? The Econo-Monitor writes about hot money outflows, the USD and the RNB. As China’s renminbi has been included in the IMF elite currencies and the Fed has started its rate hikes, conventional wisdom sees the RMB weakening and the US dollar strengthening as simple long-term trends. The realities are far more complex, however. In reality, the U.S. dollar’s strengthening relative to the Chinese RMB began around 2013/14; almost two years before joining the IMF basket and the Fed’s rate hikes. Today, U.S. tightening will escalate “hot money” outflows from many emerging markets, which may soon have to cope with asset shrinkages, deflation and depreciation. After the Fed’s rate hikes, the RMB’s weakening is anticipated to prevail over the next 12 months; in part, due to China’s slower 6.5% growth target for 2016-20; in part, due to the “One Belt, One Road” initiatives, which imply more outward direct investment from China. In November, China’s foreign reserves declined by $87 billion, although the total still remains at $3.44 trillion. The point being that from the viewpoint of the USD/RNB we are not going to end the dollar appreciation in the near future. The EU and the Euro The European Union understood too late the need to stimulate its economies and not insist on fiscal austerity to fix the effects of the Great Recession. Now, as the USA is increasing rates the EU is still looking to keep them low and keep printing money. ExchangeRates.org of the UK predicts a fairly stable euro to dollar exchange rate in 2016 with perhaps a slight appreciation of the EUR and the end of dollar appreciation on the scale that we have seen for the last couple of years. In accordance with CIBC World Markets, the Euro to US Dollar exchange rate is predicted to trend within a range of 1.07 to 1.13 in 2016. CIBC also predicts that the pound to dollar conversion will trend within the range of 1.50 to 1.61 during 2016. Analysts at ETF Securities forecast that the US Dollar will strengthen over the course of 2016 but that gains will be slower as rising inflationary pressure will see real interest rate differentials narrow. After a twenty-five percent run up versus a basket of currencies in the last few years it is unlikely that the USD will continue on that course. Rather the USD will likely level off with perhaps an occasional inching up when the Fed decides to raise interest rates. https://youtu.be/SvAcwZ3gRqw

Forex market forecast: GBP/USD, USD/JPY, USD/BRL – ADMISI
How low can the Pound go? – is the question faced by one and all. The easiest way to find out is jot down support and resistance level on the technical charts. However, it is easier said than done in case of the British Pound since it is trading at the 31-year low. Eddie Tofpik from ADM Investor Services International (ADMISI) details the bearish technical set up in Pound which suggests the currency could go as low as 1.1258 levels. He cites triple bottom formation on the Dollar-Yen and suggests the current Bull Run could be extended to 104.26 and potentially to 106.00 levels. The segment ends with a discussion on USD/BRL pair. Yuan inches down amid strong US dollar demand
The Chinese yuan slipped against the US dollar on Wednesday as demand for the greenback surged after the long Lunar New Year holiday. The People's Bank of China set the midpoint rate at 6.5237 against the US dollar, that's 0.16% weaker than the previous rate. Despite the decline, investors are expecting the yuan to remain stable in general in the near term. How Does the Strong Dollar Affect Coffee Growers?
http://buyorganiccoffee.org/1596/how-does-the-strong-dollar-affect-coffee-growers/ How Does the Strong Dollar Affect Coffee Growers? By www.BuyOrganicCoffee.org Being a hardworking and efficient coffee grower may not be enough these days if you want to be successful. You will also want to live in a country whose currency is not pegged to the US dollar! What is that all about? How does a strong dollar affect coffee growers? It turns out that coffee growers in Vietnam where the currency is pegged to the US dollar are hurting and coffee growers in Brazil whose currency is not tied to the US dollar are doing well. The Wall Street Journal provides a businessman’s view of coffee, currency exchange rates and profit as they discuss how the dollar’s strength distorts the coffee market. Vietnamese farmer Y Kua Mlo is storing coffee in his bedroom, unwilling to sell as the strong dollar makes this greenback-denominated commodity less profitable in the dollar-pegged local currency, the dong. Mr. Mlo’s wife wants him to move into other crops. In Brazil, João Elvidio Galimberti is planting more coffee because the steep fall of the real against the dollar means the Brazilian crop fetches more. The strong dollar is picking winners and losers in commodity markets. In coffee, the dollar-created imbalance between the world’s biggest producers, Vietnam and Brazil, is pressuring the price of robusta, the lower-quality beans that go into instant coffee, by encouraging extra supply from those on the right side of the dollar’s rise and an overhang from those that aren’t. This could have a long-term impact on coffee production, encouraging Brazilian farmers to grow more beans even as it pushes their Vietnamese peers to move into other crops, such as pepper. Over the last year, robusta’s price in dollars has fallen more than 29%. With the dong pegged to the dollar, the local price in Vietnam has almost matched that, falling by 27%, and that has encouraged stockpiling. Add Colombia to the Brazil side of the equation as the Colombian peso is not pegged to the US dollar and has fallen to sixty percent of its 2014 value against the greenback. That gives incentive for the two greatest Arabica coffee producers to up production which will in the end drive Arabica prices down, as denominated in US dollars. The biggest robusta coffee producer ahead of Brazil is Vietnam where growers are quitting coffee due to their exchange rate dilemma. Where Does Organic Coffee Fit in This Equation? Organic coffee typically commands a premium price providing that the grower can connect to organic coffee purchasers through middlemen and roasters. The premium that organic coffee commands is a great incentive in Brazil where the weak Brazilian currency makes coffee more profitable as it is sold internationally in dollars. Although Vietnam is not a large Arabica or organic coffee producer it will become less so as their currency tied to the expensive US dollar makes coffee growing a non-profitable venture. Coffee growers that have survived coffee leaf rust now need to contend with price fluctuations which are not based on supply and demand but on an overpriced US dollar. https://youtu.be/dPaGQwT_zEc

Olivier Desbarres FX Update: Dollar, Sterling and EM
I maintain my view expressed in January that “dollar appreciation will extend to a third consecutive year (in 2016) even if it's gains are likely to be more modest”. Modest USD rally between now and end-year including vs Sterling, premised on i) Clinton winning 8 November US elections, decent US data and my longstanding expectation of a 25bp Fed hike at 14 December meeting. Currencies of EM economies reliant on trade with US, including Mexican Peso and Brazilian Real, would likely benefit from post US election bounce, given concerns that Trump would opt for less open US economy. But looming Fed hike may ultimately cap any EM currency and equity gains. If Fed hiked in December, I would expect i) broad-based USD appreciation, ii) other major central banks (including ECB) to be more inclined to maintain their current stance on monetary policy and iii) policy rate cuts to be less frequent than in the past. EM currencies and global equities may struggle to hold onto post-US election gains while majors would underperform. Fed would want to avoid repeat of Q1 2016 when global risk appetite collapsed. Sterling Nominal Effective Exchange Rate (NEER) has depreciated about 21% since November and recently touched a 168-year low. Estimates of Sterling fair value suggest that Sterling is now undervalued and weaker than needs be for UK to run balanced current account like it did in mid-1990s and briefly in mid-2011. Conceivable that Sterling’s collapse may attract FX inflows into the UK (looking for cheap valuations) and bargain-hunting investors, stabilising Sterling or at least slowing the pace of depreciation. But there’s a risk of further Sterling weakness in next 3-6 months due to the persistence of a large current account deficit and withdrawal of foreign capital spooked by the government’s stance on EU membership and the speed of Sterling’s collapse. Ruble falls against greenback and euro
On Friday, the ruble’s exchange rate is declining against the US dollar and the euro on the back of crude prices falling to 46 dollars a barrel. The tumble in the Russian currency to two-week lows against the greenback is also linked to the Kremlin’s discontent over the ruble’s strength in the summer period. At 7:50 GMT, the dollar-ruble pair was trading at 64.7 levels. Against the single European currency, the ruble was trading above 71.3 levels. According to analysts, the ruble’s fall could be slowed down by higher sell-offs among exporters paying taxes and dividends. On Friday, crude futures keep on declining after yesterday’s losing session. The data released in the US on Thursday indicated an ongoing oil glut in the market. Trading sentiment, which previously favored the ruble’s highs in July, has changed. During early trading, the Brent crude price dropped to 46.07 dollars a barrel. The Brent price is expected to sink by 3 percent over the current week. Oil quotes are supported by the US dollar’s weakness against the major currency basket. This makes dollar-denominated crude prices attractive for holders of other currencies. External factors are weighing down on the Russian financial market. Global central banks do not hurry to reconsider their monetary stance, disappointing investors. https://www.instaforex.com

We are looking for stocks that we expect will move in a predictable direction. We want to take a position with a predefined stop level and profit target. Sounds easy right? In a lot of ways it is. But there are literally thousands of different strategies for trading the market. Every trader has a unique approach to trading. Our goal is to teach you our strategies. I have developed a series of profitable trading strategies for beginners. Our Trading Courses focus on the most fundamental aspects of a successful trade. // Chart Patterns After you understand risk management and proper stock selection, we teach you how to find stock patterns on charts. These patterns are how we base our risk and reward. We look for chart patterns that have well defined areas of support and resistance. We will use previous support levels as our stop price, or our risk, and we look at previous resistance areas as our initial profit target, or our reward. If the profit vs loss ratio is 2:1 we will take the trade. I teach both day trading strategies and swing trading strategies. For day trading we focus primarily on 5min charts while swing traders focus more on daily charts. The patterns in general are the same. I teach traders how to find patterns in real-time including Bull Flags, Bear Flags, Flat Tops, Flat Bottoms, and Rubber Band Reversal Setups. // Trading Strategies Learning risk management, proper stock selection, and chart patterns is important, but those alone don’t create a trading strategy. A trading strategy requires details on the time of day you take these trades, what type of stocks you like to trade, what percentage to success you expect. All our students are required to papertrade and prove to me that they can trade on a percentage of success that is high enough to justify real trading. If you can’t make money in a demo account, you have no business trading a real account. We have saved students hundreds of thousands of dollars by encouraging paper trading while they are learning. The market will be here for a long time to come. The important thing for you right now is to build up the skills to trade the market successfully. You will learn that once you possess the skills to consistently make $20.00/day all it takes to make $200 is larger share size. Then all it takes to make $2000 is again, larger share size. The hardest part is being consistently green just $20/day. So that is our initial target for all of our students. Profitable trading 4/5 days per week for at least 3 months. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. Seek education and gain experience before risking real money, but please always remember, your past performance does not guarantee future results. What Is Forex?

Latin American reacts to market fluctuations
(9 Nov 2016) Despite stocks plunging across Latin America following the election of Donald Trump as the next president of the United States, traders in Brazil and Argentina remained cautious of the small fluctuations on Wednesday. In Brazil, stock brokers were surprised to see the market recover from an initial fall following the election of Donald Trump as president of the United States. Marcelo Cotrim, who manages a multi-family wealth fund in Rio de Janeiro and trades in the Sao Paulo based Bovespa, said the volatility seen was not nearly as big as that expected. The Bovespa closed down only -1.47 percent, which was "reasonable" according to Cotrim. The Brazilian real also didn't lose nearly as much value against the US dollar as economists feared it could with a Trump win. The real closed at 3,22 against the US dollar on Wednesday, according to the Brazilian Central Bank. Brazil's finance minister said on Wednesday that the government is monitoring the markets and that it is ready to deal with volatility. With the Merval, the local stock exchange in Argentina, coming close to the end of trading hours, stocks were down just under 1 percent on Monday's values. Argentina marked a historic return to bond markets in April after settling an over decade long legal struggle with US hedge funds. Despite 'market friendly' president, Mauricio Macri, taking power in December, the Argentine economy continues to show many ills, including enduring double digit inflation and rising unemployment. Economists had been optimistic for a turn in fortunes following a much improved political and commercial relationship with the United States. Russian currency makes greenback stay alert
Today, the Russian ruble has been dropping against the US dollar due to falling crude prices. Brent crude extracted from the North Sea is trading below 38 dollars a barrel dragging commodity currencies down as well. Brent oil is trading at 37.38 dollars a barrel, while Texas light sweet crude has fallen to 35.42 dollars. Black gold slumped in value amid concerns that the Middle-East oil producers would fail to come to terms regarding the hydrocarbon output freeze. The meeting will take place the next week, but investors are gradually losing hope that the global oil glut issue will be resolved. Besides, there is another reason behind declining crude prices. Investors noted weakening demand for fuel. Some analysts forecast that crude oil prices will tumble soon. However, other experts are sure that oil is gradually recovering, thus enabling the ruble to resist the greenback. The comment of A. Davydov: The Russian ruble stopped losing ground after crude prices stabilized. If oil prices hold steady, then inflation data could bolster the ruble. Expectations for a slowdown in consumer price growth rates enhance prospects for a soon economic recovery. In this case, the US dollar could decline to as low as 68 rubles. End of comment The market expects the Russian inflation to decrease. It would point to improvement in the state’s economic health. The upcoming release of the consumer price index data will clarify further movements of the ruble against the US dollar. https://www.instaforex.com/

These Three Things Will Lead to A ‘Titanic’ Battle for Gold Prices: Best-Selling Author
Gold should be part of an investment strategy when everything else turns to ‘merde,’ says best-selling author and derivatives expert Satyajit Das. The sharp-witted author of his latest book, The Age of Stagnation, says that gold can be explained simply by supply and demand. ‘Gold’s supply has contracted and demand has been reasonably stable,’ Das says in an interview with Kitco News. ‘One of the things to look for are countries like Brazil, China and Russia are big holders of gold and they are having financial difficulties, so will they find it attractive to liquidate gold,’ he says. Das explains that China has been a big buyer of gold, but their foreign exchange reserves have fallen by about 800 million dollars, so will they keep buying? He adds that the yellow metal generally does well when the U.S. dollar is weak, when real interest rates are negative and when inflation is present. ‘[T]he problem is you don’t have all those things. ‘[W]e will see titanic battle happening among these three things,’ he says . April Comex gold was last up $3.30 an ounce at $1,214.70. Kitco News, Februray 18, 2016.
