How to use Inquiry Menu in AutoCAD with InnerSoft CAD
2. - INQUIRY MENU 2.1. - General Options The selection of AutoCAD objects works in three different ways or Selection Modes: • Select on screen: it will allow you to select individually or by picking those objects that you want to deal. • Select by layers: that deal with all the objects appearing in the selected layers. In order to select a layer you must select any object contained in it. • Entire Drawing: will add all the objects appearing in the drawing to the selection to be dealt. You can also select the decimal places used to show or export the measures, being the range from 0 to 12 decimals. There are checkboxes in most of the menus to perform filters of objects depending on the type of objects. That is to say, if we foresee that arcs are to be included in our selection but we do not want to add their length to the total sum, then we should only deactivate the box "Arch". Insert Text. This option is available for tabs 'Length', 'Projected Length' and 'Area'. If checked, a text will be inserted near the object showing its property value. In tab 'Areas' a checkbox allows to insert a text showing the object perimeter. You can select a measure unit from 'Unit' list. From drop-down list Reference Point, user can choose the point of the object that will be used as insertion point of the property texts. Checking option 'Start Point', these texts will be inserted at the start point of lines, ellipses, etc; the first vertex of polylines, 3D-polylines, etc; and the center of circles. Checking option 'Center Box', text will be inserted at center of the circumscribed object box (Bounding Box). 2.2. - Total sum of length and perimeter Working with entities: • Line • 2D-Polyline • LW-Polyline • 3D-Polyline • SP-Line • Arc • Ellipse • Circle • M-Line (computed length) • Region • 3D Face (computed perimeter) TIP: Multiple lines and 3DFaces have not the property of length, but this can be calculated with the coordinates of their vertexes... as app does. 2.3. - Total sum of projected length (on plane XY) Working with entities: • Lines • 3D-Polylines 2.4.- Total sum of areas Working with following entities: • 2D-Polylines • LW-Polylines • SP-Lines • Arcs • Ellipses • Circles • Regions • Hatches (only those that have area as property) • Planar 3D-Face (those whose vertices lies in the same plane, coplanar) Application calculate the area of a 3DFace if it is triangular (only three vertices are different, being one of the four repeated), as if it is a planar quadrilateral (four vertices are different). 3D triangular faces always have three coplanar vertices, but quadrilaterals not necessarily follow this rule. The program is not prepared to calculate the area of quadrilaterals whose points do not lie in a plane (skew quadrilaterals). However, the criterion for quadrilaterals is as follows: app calculates the volume of the tetrahedron formed by its four vertices and the area value of the parallelogram that they define: if the division is not greater than an internal constant number, then consider that the 4 vertices are coplanar and calculate the planar area under this supposition. That is, calculate the area whether the quadrilateral is flat as if it is approximately flat. The program works with any arbitrary quadrilateral: convex quadrilateral, concave quadrilateral and crossed quadrilaterals: it has no restrictions in this regard. Some hatches, regions and SPLines may have not area as property. App will inform about this circumstance. TIP: It doesn't matter if polylines are open or closed whenever we want to calculate their area. Not closed polylines have same area as it would have if an additional line joining their initial and final vertexes. 2.5. - Total and partial sum of length for user defined paths It includes an option for exportation of values to Excel either for real distances or projected on XY plane • Consecutive: with no gaps between points. • No consecutive: there can be gaps between points. Available options are: Export values, to Excel of the coordinates of the selected points, the partial distance between them and the total one, either real or projected. Insert index in AutoCAD, in a layer named "InnerSoft-Index". This layer will be completely cleaned before every performance of the application in order to avoid confusion between the indexes from different operations. The usefulness of the indexes lies in the ability of easily correlating the data exported to Excel and the objects of AutoCAD from which they come, apart from marking the points which have been used.

How to Trim in AutoCAD
Follow this step by step tutorial to learn how to use the trim tool trim off any unwanted edges in AutoCAD. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ There are different CAD edit options in AutoCAD that allow you to alter your objects once you have already made them. The edge of a shape can be modified or trimmed off using the "Trim" tool which helps you to trim in AutoCAD. To understand how this tool works follow the steps given below. Step # 1 -- Select the "Trim" tool Trim in AutoCAD is a command that can be used to get rid of unwanted or extending edges. Pick the tool from the "Modify" panel at the top. Step # 2 -- Select the edges However, there are a few constraints of this tool that should be kept in mind while using it. Such as, the "Trim" tool only gets rid of edges that are intersecting with another line. To clip in AutoCAD, first select the objects, the edges of which you wish to trim. It often becomes confusing as to which object requires such trimming, therefore it's easier to select all of them. Right click to finalize your selection. Step # 3 -- Trim off edges Now trim off the unwanted edges, however as you will see that only the intersecting lines are trimmed off. Once you trim off one edge and the line does not intersect anymore then it cannot be trimmed. Step # 4 -- Select the "Edge" option Amongst different AutoCAD edit features, there is one of the trim tool that allows lines to be extended such that they are not visible but AutoCAD can read their extension. To apply this, right click on the line you wish to extend and click on the "Edge" option. Step # 5 -- Extend the line Select "Extend" from the two options that AutoCAD now provides to you. Now, this portion of the line can be trimmed off. The edge intersecting with this can now be trimmed. You can even "Undo" or simply "Erase" a line by selecting these options from the right click menu. This tool in AutoCAD comes in handy while cleaning up any emerging unwanted edges rather than complete lines. It is the best way to clip in AutoCAD.

How to Work with the AutoCAD Object Snap Option
Follow this step by step tutorial to learn how to use the Snap menu to snap drawings at the midpoint, endpoint and complete drawings. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ While working in AutoCAD you can easily snap your currently selected objects to already existing ones. This method is very easy to apply while you are working on any design in this software. Simply, snap in AutoCAD by creating an object and snapping it to another using the Snap menu already present in the software. Step # 1 -- Select a different drawing color An AutoCAD feature allows the shapes and lines that you draw to be snapped to specific points on your drawing. This is an effective method for ensuring that while moving your drawings or making new ones you place them exactly where needed. Firstly select a different color for your drawing from the properties panel above so that you can tell the new drawings apart from the old ones. Step # 2 -- Open the "Snap" menu The Snap menu is given amongst the options at the lower end of your screen and is used for AutoCAD object snap. Open it by right clicking and it shows you which coordinates of a drawing your cursor will snap to. At this point the only options that are selected are the "center" and "endpoint". If you have a lot of options selected then it might cause problems while working with a complex drawing. Step # 3 -- Snap the line to the midpoint Make a line originating from the center of the larger rectangle and snap it to the midpoint. To snap in AutoCAD, select the "line" tool, go to the rectangle, press "shift" and right click. The "snap menu" emerges, from it, choose the midpoint option provided and now a triangle emerges at your midpoint clicking on which snaps it there. Step # 4 -- Select the "Intersection" option Start making the line from a point and take it to the intersection of the already existing line and rectangle. Open the snap menu by right clicking and selecting the "Intersection" option. Now place the second point there. Step # 5 -- Snap to the "Endpoint" As the option of snapping to the "Endpoint" is already selected, so when you make a line originating from the edge of the second rectangle it will snap there automatically. An accurate and measured diamond in AutoCAD is now created inside the rectangle corresponding to it using AutoCAD object snap. Step # 6 -- Snap shapes You can even snap shapes to other drawings while moving them in the same way. Select the shape, click on the "Move" tool, right click to open the Snap menu and select the required option. Carry out these steps to snap the smaller rectangle to the midpoint of the larger one. This way you can insert objects in AutoCAD, move them around or create new objects for a fresh drawing while placing them exactly where you need them.

How to Calculate the Area in AutoCAD
AutoCAD allows you to calculate the area of different objects so that you can create accurate drawings in this software. In Autocad the area of an object can be easily calculated or found out. To do this, simple tools and features of this software can be used and applied. To understand more as to how to calculate area in Autocad follow the tutorial given below. Step # 1 -- Select the "area" tool The "measure" drop down menu in the "utilities" panel consists of the "area" tool that can be used to calculate specific dimensions. Step # 2 -- Calculate the area Calculating the area of a single object is much simpler. Pick the tool, right click, choose the "object" option and select the shape whose area you wish to calculate. Step # 3 -- Check the calculated area AutoCAD will provide you with the calculated area in the space below. Press "esc" to de-select this tool. Step # 4 -- Select the "add area" option You can even calculate a combined area of several objects together. For that, select the "area" tool, right click and press the "add area" option. Step # 5 -- Add area of objects Right click once again, click on "object" and now select the objects whose areas you wish to add. Whichever object you select its area will automatically be added in the total value shown to you below. Step # 6 -- Select the "subtract area" option After you calculate area in Autocad of different objects together, you can still subtract the areas of those that you do not want to be added in the accumulative. To do this, with the "area" tool still selected, right click to get the tools options and select "subtract area". Step # 7 -- Select object Right click again, select "object" and choose the shape whose area you wish to minus from the total. Step # 8 -- Calculate area from points In Autocad area calculation can also be done by specifying points manually. This is done by defining the space whose area you wish to figure out. Simply select the "area" tool, mark the points and press "enter" to finalize your selection.

AutoCAD – How To Adjust Sizes of Grips, Corsor, ect. | AutoCADer | [EN] [PL]
Hi. On this video I`ll show you how to change sizes of different AutoCAD build-in items like Grips, Cursor and PickBoxes, Ribbon, Icons ect. In AutoCAD go to options by either clicking on Autocad logo on left top corner and select options at the bottom or simply type „OPTIONS” in AutoCAD command line and hit enter. Lets start from „Display” Tab. There is a tick box „Use Large Icons For Toolbars” which changes toolbar icons to bigger ones. Note, that this willl not change icon sizes on the Ribbon. Toolbars are additional elements like this where we can put items/commands which we are using the most often for easy access. To turn on toolbar, just type –TOOLBAR on Command Line, and enter toolbar name. Tolbar names can be found on this webpage: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2015/ENU/AutoCAD-Core/files/GUID-0CFBD067-D736-4198-BC09-3A9092ECE005-htm.html Once first toolbar is visible – you can add next ones by just right click on existing one and select next tollbars. Ok but get back to options. On the same tab there is also „Crosshair Size” setting, which sets percentage length of the lines which are in the center of the cursor in relations to your screen width. Soi if you`ll set this to 50%, you can see that horizontal line is on half screen width, and vertical line is the same length as horizontal one. If you would set Crosshair Size to 100% - these lines would be always visible all the way through your screen no matter where your cursor is. In the cursor there is also option to change pickbox size and aperture box size. Firstly lets explain what these are. Pickbox is a rectangle visible in the middle of cursor. It indicates how close crosshairs must be to an object to select it. Aperture box indicates how close crosshairs must be to catch Osnap Marker indicating for example middle of line. Note that by deafoult Aperture box is invisible. To make it visible, type APBOX in command line and change value from 0 to 1. Now when you`ll try to perform some operation on the object, you can see that pickbox (continues line) will be replaced with Aperture box (dotted line) until command is finished. Ok – but lets get back to where change sizes of these elements. Open options, and go to „Drafting” Tab. There is an option to change size of Aperture Box and also Snap Marker. On „Selection’ Tab – you`ll be able to change size of Pickbox and Grips. What about Ribbon? Although there is nio option to change sizes of icon in Ribbon – there is an option to change Ribbon apperance. To do so, Just click small arrow buton on the right hand side of ribbon tabs names. You can show standard Ribbon, but also Panel Buttons, Panel Titles or Tabs only. Just play with it and set apperance which will be best for your needs.
