Benefits of Starting a Nonprofit Organization - Running a Nonprofit Business [NEW]

09:37
Benefits of Starting a Nonprofit Organization are many. Running a Nonprofit Business can be greatly rewarding as you help others. How much money can you put into an operating charity, EVEN YOUR OWN? You can actually write off up to __% of your adjusted gross income! Find out exactly how much in this video. Toby Mathis with Anderson Business Advisors sharing my wisdom on on non-profits. This is a topic that's near and dear to my heart. I have a personal philosophy that basically states that if you're good at making money, you should be very generous and make sure that you're taking care of those who can't. I get this from something called The Gospel of Wealth that was written by Andrew Carnegie more than a hundred years ago, Where he basically stated that millionaires were the trustees of the poor. In other words, not that you just give money away but that you do good works with your money and help those that may be not as fortunate as you or maybe they're not as good at making money as you are. If you are good at making money, one of the best places to put it, is inside of your own non-profit. Nonprofit foundations or charitable organizations can also be a great legacy tool to make sure that your kids are taken care of because they always have a place to work. No better example than Milton Hershey, who in 1905 created the Hershey Trust, which established his charitable intent and manages his various charitable activities. Creation: Nonprofits pay lower fees while for-profits pay higher creation fees. Goal: The goal of the Nonprofits is the greater good while for-profits’ goal is to make profit for the owners or shareholders. Business Activity: Both are businesses Profit Making: Both make profits Profit Distribution: Nonprofits don’t distribute profits while for-profits distribute profits to its owners or shareholders. Shares / Share Holder: Nonprofits don’t have or sell shares. For-profit organizations may have and sell shares. Ownership: Nonprofits are owned by the public while for-profit organizations are privately owned. Taxes: Nonprofits don’t pay taxes while for-profit organizations pay taxes. Dissolution: Nonprofits can’t sell property upon dissolution and must give it to a similar charity when it closes while for-profit organizations can sell their property and the profits go to the owners or shareholders. Those are the nine differences between for-profit and nonprofit organizations that I could come up with. Do you know any differences between for-profit and nonprofit organizations that I have forgotten? Please share below in the comment area.

A Guide to Nonprofit Strategic Planning

https://bloomerang.co/resources/webinars/ Imagine how history might have changed if Martin Luther King, Jr. had said, "I have a strategic plan", instead of his famous words, "I have a dream". What are your organization's dreams for the future? On the practical side, are you worried about the future? What are the critical issues you face? Have you taken the time to think big and think real about where your organization will be in one year, three years, five years? Does your nonprofit have a shared vision and a roadmap for getting there? Participants will learn key elements in a successful strategic planning process: being inclusive and proactive in engaging stakeholders building consensus and "ownership" making data-driven decisions ensuring measurability and accountability being future-focused You'll also see how the process worked for one community college and how college stakeholders engage in reviewing, modifying, and updating the plan each year.

A non profit organization differs from a for profit business in a few key ways. First and foremost, a nonprofit organization must exist to help improve some cause. Examples of such causes can be to help a community, homelessness, nature, human rights, animal rights, or a number of other causes. The other thing that makes an nonprofit organization is the tax expemption they get from the IRS. Additionally, there are some restrictions about how a nonprofit must distribute its profit. How to write a business plan: free business plan template. Simple outline with 20 planning tips

34:30
Here is the link with a discount to my business plan course: https://www.udemy.com/how-to-write-a-business-plan/?couponCode=ten_youtube Browse my business and marketing books on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Alex-Genadinik/e/B00I114WEU And here is my full course on the A-Z of how to start a business: https://www.udemy.com/how-to-start-a-business-go-from-business-idea-to-a-business/?couponCode=ten_youtube The course is structured as a business plan template so as you go through each section of the course, it teaches you what to write in that particular section of your business plan. So essentially you get a free business plan template when you enroll in the course because the course is structured like a business plan outline. Additionally, the course has a free sample business plan that you can use as an example when you write your own plan. Additionally, if you are a first-time entrepreneur, here is my full course on how to start a business: https://www.udemy.com/how-to-start-a-business-go-from-business-idea-to-a-business/?couponCode=y Business plan app (free) for the iPhone and iPad: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/business-plan-and-coach/id554845193 Here is my premium business plan for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=business.premium Here is my free business plan for Android (sorry I don't have a free sample app for the iPhone): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.problemio In this tutorial I give you 20 business planning tips starting with issues like how long a business plan should be, when to give it to investors, how to decide whether you should write one or not, and a few other good practice tips. After that, I get into the template of the business plan, and explain what each section of this document should contain, how to write it, and how to impress investors or savvy business people. Because after all, what makes a good business plan isn't the outline or the template, but the business strategy and business model that you outline in the document. The tutorial template outline covers the executive summary, writing your product or service description section, creating your marketing plan and how to think about and write the section of the business plan that discusses your revenue streams, projected (pro forma) revenue and earnings, how to write your unit economics section, and how to write the section of the document that talks about your founding executive team, advisors and mentors. You should also create a section explaining whether there are any previous investors in the business. Plus, you should create an appendix which contains your sensitive financial information that you may want to show to investors, but not random other people. So you can add and remove the appendix from the business plan whenever you want. Lastly, you should create a financials section. The financials are more complex and intimidating than other sections so I cover that in more detail in my course on how to write a business plan. So now you have a free template, an easy outline and you should be reading to start writing, creating and doing some fantastic business planning. Good luck, and I hope that this tutorial and the other resources I posted will help you write a very good (or great) business plan to impress investors and whoever else you want to impress. And most importantly, I wish you best of luck growing your company and making it a success. You can use this tutorial to write a business plan for a restaurant, cleaning business, local service, ecommerce, home repair, gelato or frozen yogurt shop, deli or sandwich shop, t-shirt printing company, elearning company, day spa, hair salon or beauty salon, hardware store or shop, personal trainer, milkshake shop, restaurant or diner, bar or pub, virtual assistant or personal concierge, affiliate, mobile app, bookstore or a kids store or a boutique, non profit, pool hall, liquor store, hookah lounge, or any other kind of business.

Launching a Nonprofit: Business Plans for Startups

This is an excerpt. View the full version here: http://ow.ly/e0Jr0 Developing a business plan, when setting up a nonprofit organization, not only helps to identify the real costs involved in running programs and services, but also helps increase the chances of securing financial support. In addition, a business plan prepares us for unexpected financial downturns that could put the sustainability of our projects at risk. The Foundation Center is pleased to present the third and last program in our "Lessons Learned" series for nonprofit start-up organizations. The moderator, Danielle Lanyard, guides the conversation about using business plans to build a sustainable charitable organization between two knowledgeable founders and executive directors of nonprofits: Erin Barnes from ioby and Greg Miller from Dance Parade. Together they take on the question of just how exactly does one set up a business plan?

Non-Profit Business Plan

03:56
https://qtbizsolutions.leadpages.co/nonprofitbusinessplan/ Non-profit Business Plan Hi, Tina Williams here from qtbizsolutions.com and chances are you found this video because you were looking for a non-profit business plan. I want to ask you are you really asking you for the business plan or are you asking for how to open your non-profit and more importantly, I thing, how do you get funded in your nonprofit so that you can pay yourself, pay your employees and actually afford help the people that you really want to help. Well to answer the question of where to start in your non-profit business plan I would say the first step is to file your nonprofit articles of incorporation with your state. You can use your state's pre-formulated articles of incorporation for a domestic nonprofit but you must make sure that the three clauses that the IRS requires in your forming documentation to become tax exempt are present. So those are going to be the clauses about dissolving your company and make sure that the money goes to a good cause. Those three clauses need to be in your forming documentation in order for you to be tax exempt and being tax-exempt, I'm going to say, is the most important part of becoming a nonprofit organization also the most important step in your non-profit business plan. The next step in your non-profit business plan is filing your form 1023 or 1023 EZ. This is the form that you need to file with the IRS in order to become tax-exempt. Form 1023 EZ is a shortened form of form 1023 but you still need to have all the documentation for 1023 to file Form 1023 EZ, so I say even if you want to file form 1023EZ you still need all of the supporting documentation and attachments that are required with form 1023. I would have you filled that out and prepare form 1023 anyway. This will make things a lot easier in the future for grantmakers and banking. Once you are tax-exempt things get a lot easier because people can get a tax deduction for giving you money and making grants to you. Now the next step in your non-profit business plan is to find a grant funder that wants to help their target that you want to help. There over five million grant makers and most have requirements to pay out at least 5% of their assets annually so this step should be an easy one. Then you would submit your grant and donation requests to those funders and get your business funded. The final step in your non-profit business plan is to get customers that you want to help. You will actually need to help the people that you promised to help when you made your grant and donation requests to those grant funders. And that's it... you will repeat steps 3 and 4 forever. If you found this video helpful please like the video leave a comment and if you would like some free training on how to open your nonprofit and get a non-profit business template you can go to qtbizsolutions.com/nonprofitbusinessplan and download that information for free. There are a few main issues that make up the difference between a nonprofit and a for profit business. The first issue is taxation. Nonprofits get a tax exemption from the IRS (in United States). The other difference between a nonprofit and a for profit business is how they distribute profits. Nonprofit organizations must not end up with a surplus, and must use the surplus revenue to either fund the sustaining of the nonprofit, or find what to do with the money. For profit businesses are free to do just about whatever they want with the profits. There are additional differences between a nonprofit, and a for profit business, and I mention those in the video. How to Name your Nonprofit or Business

14:28
In this video I go over a step-by-step process for coming up with a quality name for your organization. There are five criteria you should aim for when naming your organization. It should: 1. Be unique and memorable 2. Be easy to spell and pronounce 3. Be simple and short 4. Communicate something about your organization 5. Evoke emotion Note: it is not necessary to meet all five criteria but try to shoot for accomplishing three of them. Using the above criteria, it is now time to start brainstorming your new name. In this video I go over multiple ways to do this. And then, once you have narrowed it down to your final 2-3 name options, it is time to test it. Again, this is discussed in the video. If you want to learn more about "Naming your Nonprofit" just visit the blog post I wrote about this at: http://nonprofitally.com/start-a-nonprofit/choose-a-name Thanks for watching this video. I hope it was helpful.
