NCEES Civil PM Practice Exam Problem 510 - Water Resources & Env: Open Channel Flow

16:03
Problem 510 is found in the PM practice exam for Water Resources and Environmental—but don’t be afraid to try it if you are just taking the AM portion as it’s a great problem to practice open channel flow computations! This problem involves a channel and overbank area which need to convey a given design flood. The unknown in this problem is the width of the overbank needed such that the depth in the channel does not exceed a certain value. There are two given Manning’s n values for the channel and overbank area. HINT: Separate the main channel and overbank areas into two rectangular cross-sections, and be careful when you compute the wetted perimeter, including only the parts of the channel and overbank that are wetted. DTC recommends that anyone taking the PE Exam purchase the NCEES Practice Exam for the exam they are taking. It is an essential exam review resource. https://account.ncees.org/exam-prep/

Civil Vs Mechanical Engineering - How to Pick the Right Major

07:50
What is Civil Engineering - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFljMHTQ1QY What is Mechanical Engineering - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W74y1RxN6BA In this video I discuss "Civil Vs Mechanical Engineering." These two majors start off very similar in college but then become very different. Civil engineers branch off into their subfields including structural engineering, geotechnical, water resources, and transportation. Mechanical engineers focus more on heat transfer, fluid mechanics, dynamic systems, etc. Mechanical engineering does lead to a wider range of job opportunities compared to civil engineering. However, both these majors have high employment and salaries so you can't go wrong with either one. Both of these majors involve a large amount of math and physics which you should have an interest in before entering either major. *************************************** For information on math, science, and engineering majors, check us out at https://majorprep.com *************************************** ►Patreon: https://patreon.com/majorprep ►PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/majorprep ►Facebook: https://facebook.com/majorprep

Civil Engineering Technology - Fresh Water Resources focuses on a wide variety of aspects within the profession of Civil Engineering, beginning with surveying, transitioning into design, and resulting in construction. Basic skills are developed and students are exposed to all areas of the various professions. This allows the student to be able to understand and communicate across the professions, plus it allows the student to discover what area they really enjoy working in. The 2nd year focuses on aspects specific to fresh water, from rainfall to testing to cleaning. The program is designed as a fusion of education and application; hence all the core classes are tied to real world experiences with a significant influx of participation from potential future employers. Some students use this program as a place to prepare themselves to transfer to a 4-year university. Most, however, use this program as a means to develop the skills that allow them to obtain a productive career in various aspects of Fresh Water R

NCEES Civil AM Practice Exam Problem 120 - Water Resources & Env: Stormwater Runoff

08:33
Problem 120 in the NCEES Civil Practice Exam for Water Resources & Environmental is like many on the exam, it gives you some extraneous information. You have to be careful to read the problem and use the correct depth of flow. It’s a two part problem where you begin by using the Manning equation for flow rate to determine the flow rate in the channel, then use that rate to determine the time to discharge the given runoff volume. Watch your units, and enjoy the video! DTC recommends that anyone taking the PE Exam purchase the NCEES Practice Exam for the exam they are taking. It is an essential exam review resource. https://account.ncees.org/exam-prep/
