Please visit our website http://elkhartgroup.com for more advanced solutions. Using 3 different terms of data and Excel 2010 to perform ANOVA to determine if there is a significant difference in the progression term-over-term at alpha - 0.20 (note that if one were to do year over year there *would* be a significant F-Test - this is why 'static' data is almost useless for modeling change).

How to Calculate a Correlation in Microsoft Excel - Pearson's r

02:14
Check out our brand-new Excel Statistics Text: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076FNTZCV How to Calculate the Correlation using the Data Analysis Toolpak in Microsoft Excel is Covered in this Video (Part 1 of 2). Correlation in Excel Data Analysis Toolpak Pearson's r in Excel Statistics in Excel Video Transcript: In this video we'll take a look at how to calculate the correlation coefficient in Microsoft Excel. Now on your screen here we have two variables hours studied and that indicates the number of hours studied for an exam and then exam grade which is just a percentage grade on an exam. Now we want to calculate the correlation between these two variables to see if there's a relationship there. So do that we want to go to Data and then select Data Analysis and here we want to select Correlation and then click OK and then for Input Range what we want to do here is select all of our values and I'm going to go ahead and select the variable names as well. So click the mouse and hold the mouse button down and select all the cells there and I want to be sure since I did select the variable names or labels that I check the Labels in First Row box then click OK and then here I'm going to go ahead and expand this a little bit because it's quite small and then we'll go and round this down as well. OK so that's our correlation. I can also put it right here it's the same thing so let's take a look at what this is here. So the correlation between exam grade and our study is .86 so we could say r for Pearson's r equals .86. Now that indicates a very strong positive correlation between number of hours studied and the grade on the exam. So in other words the way we would interpret a positive correlation is people who studied more hours tended to do better on the exam and people who studied fewer hours tended to do worse on the exam. Now the relationship isn't perfect but it is very strong in this example. Now in our next video we'll test this value .86 to see whether it's significantly different from zero. How to do Linear Regression with Excel Data Analysis Toolpak

06:09
http://alphabench.com/data/linear-regression.html Demonstration of linear regression in Excel using the data analysis toolpak, with a discussion of the output generated from the regression tool. This video was shot in Excel 2007, but the technique is the same for Excel 2008, 2010, 2013 and 2016. All statistics and interpretations are the same regardless of Excel version. It would work for Excel 2011 if Microsoft hadn't removed the Data Analysis Toolpak from that version. By the way, if you are trying to do this in Excel 2011 for MAC OS you can download a free companion software called StatPlusLE. Linear regression is one of the most common statistical techniques in use for making predictions and forecasting behavior. This Tutorial explains the notable statistics and how to use the linear model in making predictions. See our visual take on regression: http://alphabench.com/data/visual-linear-regression.html

How to Use an Excel Data Table for "What-if" Analysis

06:43
An Excel Data Table is a great way to see the results of substituting two values in a formula. For example, to see what your monthly payment will be by changing BOTH the Interest Rate and the amount that you borrow. However, reading about how to set up an Excel Data Table can be confusing. Where, exactly, do you place the Row Inputs and the Column Inputs? Seeing how a Data Table is constructed is SO much easier. I invite you to watch this short Excel Training Video Lesson to see how to set up and use an Excel Data Table to analyze your data. You can find additional resources on my website: www.thecompanyrocks.com - I look forward to your comments.

One of my viewers asked for my help in creating an Executive Summary Report - because her manager will not allow her to use a Pivot Table. Here are the tips and techniques that I demonstrate in this lesson: 1) Use Excel's Advanced Filter to Extract a list of unique customer names from a filed with over 4,000 records. 2) Convert a normal range of data cells into an Excel 2007 / 2010 Table (as a List in Excel 2003) - so that range references will update automatically when you append records. 3) Create Named Ranges of Cells that you can use in Formulas & Functions. 4) Use the SUMIF, AVERAGEIF and COUNTIF Functions in the Summary Report.
