Rome - How to withdraw money in Italy (Day 3.5) - vlog
Even for experienced travelers, withdrawing money at a fair rate or not getting your account locked when traveling abroad can be a challenge. You typically will get the best rate with your ATM card, as long as the local bank doesn't charge you a large fee. If that isn't an option, then using a credit card with no foreign transaction fees is your best choice. Finally, when in doubt just bring cash, but expect to have to shop around for a decent rate (usually outside of the main tourist areas). Regardless, it was a painful experience to waste a day trying to get local money. http://www.distantlands.com WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO EXCHANGE MONEY IN EUROPE? How many people endlessly scour airfare comparison and hotel booking sites looking for the best deal, then waste all that effort by paying huge fees to exchange money abroad. Once you leave the country, how you pay for things can impact the cost of your trip. What is the best option? Keep watching and we will explore all your currency conversion options while traveling in Europe. But first, don't forget to like, subscribe and comment. EXCHANGING CASH Avoid or minimize cash exchange. Fees can range from about 8% at banks to up to 15% at airport currency exchange booths. If you need to exchange cash, look for places that don't charge a commission. Hold onto your cash for emergencies. If you want cash before leaving the U.S., you may be able to order currency through your bank, or through a website. Rates in the U.S. are usually less favorable than abroad, though, so only get what you need for a day or two. Cash is best for: Emergencies. PRO: You'll almost always find someone who will exchange cash. CON: You will not get a great conversion rate. DEBIT AND ATM CARDS Use these at cash machines (ATM's) to withdraw local cash. Use bank ATM machines. Your rate will be as good as or better than a bank teller. Minimize ATM usage fees by withdrawing as much as you can each time you visit the ATM (and keep the extra cash in your money belt!). AVOID generic ATMs or foreign exchange machines, often found at airport arrival halls, which charge high fees and offer really bad exchange rates. Debit & ATM cards are best for: Getting cash in local currency. PRO: You get the great interbank exchange rate, and ATMs are widely available in cities throughout Europe. CON: Each withdrawal you make will be subject to various fees, so withdraw larger amounts less frequently than you would at home. Debit cards are usually not accepted for car rentals without additional cost and paperwork. PRO TIP: AVOID DYNAMIC CURRENCY CONVERSION. If a merchant asks you if you would like to make your transaction in your home currency instead of local currency, say NO. ALWAYS get your transaction in the local currency or you will pay a huge fee. CREDIT CARDS Credit cards are best for large purchases such as airline or train tickets, hotel bills and car rentals. Generally, paying by credit card gives you a better rate than withdrawing or exchanging cash...as long as you clear your balance each month. The interest you pay on that balance will add to your trip costs. Read your credit card agreement carefully; a foreign currency conversion fee of about 1% is standard. If you can, consider applying for a credit card that doesn't charge foreign currency fees before you travel. However, avoid using your credit card to withdraw cash from ATMs. This is a cash advance, and you will be charged fees and interest immediately. PRO: By using a credit card for most expenses, you can carry less cash. You can also dispute erroneous transactions. And, many credit cards offer points or rewards. CON: Many, if not most credit cards have hidden surcharges for foreign exchange transactions. Look for cards that are travel-friendly. PRO TIP: The Chase Mileage Explorer Card (for United frequent fliers) and the Chase Sapphire card have no international transaction fees. TRAVELER'S CHECKS AND MONEY CARDS While mostly obsolete, traveler's checks provide more security than cash because they can be replaced if lost or stolen. These days, Visa and Travelex offer travel cards that are prepaid like traveler's checks, but work like debit cards for purchases and ATM withdrawals. CON: The exchange rate for traveler's checks is not as favorable as the interbank rate you get when using a credit or debit card, and very few merchants accept them for purchase these days. You'll incur commissions, shipping charges and/or conversion fees to purchase AND cash the checks. The prepaid cards have plenty of fees, too--activations fees, reloading fees, ATM charges, and even inactivity fees. In most cases you're better off using your own debit card. Rome Campo de' Fiori (flower square) money exchange scheme
Experienced money exchange fraud in Rome. This stand on a busy tourist site snatched cash before discussing the exchange fee and amounts from 2 groups of tourist group. When I and the other victim went to police station, the patrol police forced us to take the money and finish the transaction and the local police simply say "there's nothing can be done. This case happens on a daily basis." I would say Italy government needs to do something about this as it's dirty business brings shame to a beautiful city. Later on when we are standing by the stand to warn follow travelers, one lady from U.K. was saved then we were removed by the police. I asked the police why I can't tell people the truth that this exchange takes 17% transaction fee, the police said if they allow me to do so, no one would visit the business. Thus they would arrest us if we continuous standing there to warn Travelers. The stand manager also threatened to have mafias come to beat us up. We left afterwards. One Friend of mine laughed that the Originally offered 5% refund go to police pockets at this point. Tourists are too weak to protest thus formed the collaboration between corrupted police and dirty business. Note: the police is pushing away my camera and said no filming is allowed in this country
10 Smart Tricks to Avoid Pickpockets
How to Protect Yourself from Pickpockets. Even if you’re super careful and attentive, you’re still not 100% protected from pickpocketing. If you don’t want to lose your money and save yourself from falling victim of pickpockets, pay attention to some simple but important tips that can help you save your money and other valuables. The most popular pickpocketing schemes: "Sandwiching" their victim 3:12 Criminal #1 forces the victim to stop suddenly. They might ask for directions or drop a bag full of groceries, spilling the contents everywhere. Most people will stop to help someone in need. Meanwhile, criminal #2 goes in for the attack. He “accidentally” bumps into the victim, apologizes profusely, and walks away with a stolen wallet. Pretending to have been robbed 4:25 Sometimes in a crowded place, you might hear a person scream, "Somebody’s stolen my wallet!". Of course, after this, everybody usually starts checking if their valuables are safe. They pat their pockets or open their bags and peek inside. What they don't realize is that this is just a trick to help pickpockets determine with 100% precision where everybody keeps their money. Using kids 5:00 Pickpockets will use any means necessary to distract you, and they eagerly involve children in their criminal schemes. For instance, they send a cute little kid to distract you by showing you their drawing or toy while an adult member of the crooked crew (or even another child) sneaks up on you from behind. How to protect yourself from pickpockets 7:19 First of all, make it hard for criminals to get to your belongings. Avoid big crowds. Don't constantly touch your bag or your pocket where you keep your wallet or money. Never ever count your money in public! If you carry a purse, shorten the strap. If you go to a place notorious for pickpocketing incidents, it may be a good idea to prepare a fake wallet. If you travel with a backpack, wear it the other way around, on your front. Music: Argentina_Tango_Bandonian https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS Common myths about pickpocketing 0:43 Top-choice places to rob people 2:30 Popular pickpocketing schemes: "Sandwiching" their victim 3:12 Fake drowning 3:58 Pretending to have been robbed 4:25 Using kids 5:00 A fight 5:32 Singling tourists out 5:58 Cities with high levels of pickpocketing 6:48 How to protect yourself from pickpockets 7:19 SUMMARY -Most common pickpocketing myths are believing that you’d surely feel someone putting their hand in your bag or pocket, hoping for safety of your inner pockets, and claiming that you avoid crowds and thus will stay safe. -Pickpockets operate at museums, beaches, open markets, restaurants, train stations and airports and in public transport. -One criminal asks the victim to stop and help them while the second one bumps into him and steals the wallet. -The victim rushes to save the “inexperienced swimmer” while their belongings are stolen from the beach. -While you check your pockets after someone “has been robbed” the pickpockets find out exactly where you’re hiding your valuables. -They send a cute little kid to distract you while adult criminals rob you. -Fake fights draw crowds that are a perfect place for collecting wallets. -Criminals eagerly go for tourists, so stay alert. -Hanoi, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, and Paris are top 5 cities, which are notorious for high levels of pickpocketing. -Don't keep your wallet in your back pocket or in a bag that doesn’t close entirely. Avoid big crowds. Never ever count your money in public. When you go out, take only the bare minimum. From Bitcoin To Hedera Hashgraph (Documentary) Hidden Secrets Of Money Episode 8
Bonus Features: http://www.hiddensecretsofmoney.com Today, mankind stands at a crossroads, and the path that humanity chooses may have a greater impact on our freedom and prosperity than any event in history. In 2008 a new technology was introduced that is so important that its destiny, and the destiny of mankind are inextricably linked. It is so powerful that if captured and controlled, it could enslave all of humanity. But if allowed to remain free and flourish - it could foster unimaginable levels of peace and prosperity. It has the power to replace all financial systems globally, to supplant ninety percent of Wall St, and to provide some functions of government. It has no agenda. It's always fair and impartial. It can not be manipulated, subverted, corrupted or cheated. And - it inverts the power structure and places control of one's destiny in the hands of the individual. In the future, when we look back at the 2.6 million-year timeline of human development and the major turning points that led to modern civilization - the creation of farming, the domestication of animals, the invention of the wheel, the harnessing of electricity and the splitting of the atom - the sixty year development of computers, the internet and this new technology will be looked upon as a single event...a turning point that will change the course of human history. It's called Full Consensus Distibuted Ledger Technology, and so far its major use has been for cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin....but its potential goes far, far beyond that. The Crypto Revolution: From Bitcoin to Hashgraph is our latest episode of Hidden Secrets of Money. It’s about the evolution of cryptocurrencies and full consensus distributed ledger technology, and how they will change our world. I believe that this video is by far the easiest way for the average person to gain an understanding of what cryptocurrencies are and how they work, but more importantly, the immense power of full consensus distributed ledger technology and the impact it will have on our daily lives. I have an absolute passion for monetary history and economics, and I love teaching them. Cryptocurrencies are our future, and there is no escaping it… this is the way everything will be done from now on. But, we now stand at a crucial turning point in history. Full consensus ledgers such as Blockchain and Hashgraph have the power to enslave us, or free us… it all depends on how we choose to use them. If we choose to support centralized versions issued by governments and the financial sector we will be granting them more control over our daily lives. Politicians and bureaucrats will be able raise taxes instantly, whenever they want, on every dollar you make as you make them, and every dollar you spend as you spend them. If they think the economy needs stimulating they'll be able to enforce huge negative interest rates, effectively punishing you for not spending everything you earn before you earn it. They'll be able to decide where you can go and where you can’t, what you can buy and what you can’t, and what you can do and whatever they decide you can’t do… and if they don't like you, they can just disconnect you from the monetary system. So, will the monetary system become fully distributed and help to free mankind, or will it be centralized and enslave us? The choice is in front of us right now, and our decisions will create our future. I believe that this will be a binary outcome, there is no middle ground, it will either be one future or the other. The question is, will it be the future we want? Or the future they want? I’m a precious metals dealer and one thing I’ve learned is that gold, silver, and now free market decentralized cryptocurrencies, represent freedom. Because of this knowledge I started investing in crypto currencies long ago and also became one of the first precious metals dealers to accept bitcoin as payment for gold and silver. I would really appreciate it if you could share this video with everyone you know. I think it’s very important that as many people as possible find out about the changes to the global monetary system that are happening right now… nothing will affect us more, and everyone’s future depends on it. "Money and Sustainability - the Missing Link" PRESENTATION BY BERNARD LIETAER
Launch of the new Report from the EU Chapter of the Club of Rome: "Money and Sustainability: the Missing Link" BOOK PRESENTATION OF BERNARD LIETAER, AUTHIOR OF "MONEY AND SUSTAINABILITY -- THE MISSING LINK" FIND OUT MORE: http://www.clubofrome.org/?p=4478 WATCH PART I, INTROCUCTORY REMARKS OF IAN JOHSNON, SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE CLUB OF ROME: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpEvMf4AqYw WATCH PART II: http://youtu.be/qN-qPGqLLYM (Brussels, 31 May, 2012) Bernard Lietaer, author, financial expert, and co-designer of the ECU (the monetary mechanism that later became the euro) yesterday presented compelling arguments to show that there is a structural flaw in the current monetary system that generates all the current problems and repeated financial and monetary crises, including the eurozone crisis. It is also ecologically unsustainable as it encourages climate change and over-consumption. Mr Lietaer's presented his arguments during a lecture, hosted by the Club of Rome's EU Chapter in Brussels, to launch the Report from Club of Rome: Money and Sustainability: the Missing Link Current monetary system is inherently unstable and destructive The Report acknowledges that money has ignited an explosion of entrepreneurial and scientific innovation, but says it is structurally unstable and that current problems cannot be solved by simply tinkering with the system. "It would be naïve to think that innovations are magic bullets to solve all our problems. We can no longer afford to overlook new currencies that could promote sustainability", said Bernard Lietaer. The Report describes how between 1970 and 2010, there were 145 banking crises, 208 monetary crises, and 72 sovereign debt crises -- in other words a total of 425 systemic crises -- an average of more than ten each year. The current Greek crisis is simply the last in a long line. Mark Dubrulle, President of the EU Chapter, which organised the lecture said "Almost everything is for sale in most EU countries. Austerity is imposed at all levels... We hope the book will inspire many a decision maker and opinion leader to change course." The solution: the creation of complementary currency systems The Report says monetary instability could be solved by creating complementary cooperative currency systems (generically called the 'Civic') to work in parallel with conventional bank-debt money, counterbalancing its negative effects. It outlines eight examples of cooperative currency systems that can address issues such as healthcare, education, climate change, and employment. Bernard Lietaer and his co-authors also suggest a solution to the current Greek/Eurozone crisis based on Greece creating complementary urban or regional electronic currencies to run parallel to the euro which the country would retain for international business. The civic/euro exchange rate would be determined in the online market. Interestingly, this week Deutsche Bank proposed a very similar solution -- the creation of the 'Geuro', a complementary Greek currency to help it restore an internal competitive economy.

Forum boarium, porch of the money changers, Rome, Italy.
I mispronounce the name in the video, it is forum boarium, originally bovarium, being a livestock meat market from the days of the Republic. Today the arch is called by Italians the Arco di Giano, or arch of John, though he probably never went there. I don't know the name of the basilica that is attached to the porch of the money changers. Across from this is an ancient entrance to the Cloaca Maxima, Rome's original sewer system.

Follow this link and download this ZIP Folder to learn all about them: http://rtw.heavengames.com/rtw/info/tac/index.shtml (click "here" on page to download) Most of them are self explanatory. ________________ HOW TO SPAWN UNITS: You can find a list of the Unit IDs needed to spawn units in export_descr_unit file, which you can find in your Rome Total War - Data folder. Then it's a matter of going through it to find the unit. Though I'm unsure if all units will respond in the console. You then need to type out the command, setting a spawn unit for them. Which ideally should be in a city. And so the example would be: create_unit "Rome" "roman hastati" 5 9 3 3 Keep note, that anything in quotations doesn't need an underscore if there is a space between them. but you can try the command with the underscore if it doesn't work from a failure to recognize the unit. The numbers following the unit id, are the stats you are spawning them with. The first number being the amount of units you wish to spawn. 9 experience being the maximum experience (3 bronze chevrons, 3 silver chevrons, and 3 gold chevrons). And the last 2 numbers representing the Weapon and Armour quality, as Bronze, Silver and Gold. 1 2 and 3 Unit names are Case Sensitives, so do not use capital letters. And you can also spawn units directly into a generals ranks. But general names are more complicated to type into the command console, so use only when you see it fit.

The Brothers Gracchi - How Republics Fall - Extra History - #1
Rome had doubled the size of its empire in a single generation, but such expansion came at great cost. The wars enriched the wealthy and impoverished the soldiers who fought in them. Into these turbulent times came a talented and well-connected young man named Tiberius Gracchus, who soon learned the power of appealing to the populace over the elite. It now stretched from Spain to Greece, with holdings in Africa, and showed no signs of stopping. At home, this growth destabilized the entire economy. Slaves from captured lands became field workers for the wealthy. Common soldiers who used to own land could no longer tend it during the long campaigns, and returned to find themselves either bankrupt or forced to sell to the large slave-owning elites. Now these displaced landowners flooded Rome looking for work, but many of them remained unemployed or underemployed. In the midst of this, two boys named Tiberius and Gaius were born to the Gracchus family. They were plebeians, but of the most distinguished order. Their mother, Cornelia, was the daughter of Scipio Africanus. Their father was a two-time consul who'd celebrated two triumphs for winning great campaigns. But their father died early, so Cornelia raised her children alone and made sure they had a firm grounding in the liberal arts. As soon as he could, the elder boy, Tiberius, ran for office as a military tribune and joined the final campaign against Carthage. There he earned great honor for himself, and learned from the Scipio Aemilianus, his half-brother who also happened to be the leading general. Upon return to Rome, he ran for quaeastor and was sent to serve in the Numantian Wars in Spain. This time, the general he served under was struggling and suffered defeat after defeat. At the end, he tried to flee, only to be captured by the Numantians along with the entire army. The Numantians insisted on discussing surrender terms with Tiberius Gracchus, whose father had long ago earned their respect, and he successfully negotiated the release of 20,000 captured soldiers. In Rome, however, the elites looked on his treaty with scorn: they felt his surrender made Rome look weak. The families of the soldiers had a far different perspective: they celebrated Tiberius, and even saved him from punishment at the hands of the Senate. He had learned that power could be found in appealing to the people. ____________ ♪ Get the intro music here! http://bit.ly/1EQA5N7 *Music by Demetori: http://bit.ly/1AaJG4H ♪ Get the outro music here! http://bit.ly/23isQfx *Music by Sean and Dean Kiner: http://bit.ly/1WdBhnm

Fiat Currency|Fiat Money|Global Economic Meldown
http://buygoldingrams.com http://goldascurrency.com https://facebook.com/goldascurrency Fiat Currency -Toilet Paper Cash The past of fiat cash, to place it kindly, has actually been one of failing. EVERY fiat currency since the Romans first started the method in the initial century has finished in devaluation and eventual collapse, of not just the currency, yet of the economy that housed the fiat money. Why would certainly it be various right here in the UNITED STATE? Well, in truth, it hasn't already been. In our short past, we've currently had several failed attempts at utilizing paper money, and it is my point of view that today's dollars are no various than the continentals provided throughout the Revolutionary Battle. I will certainly obtain into that in a minute. In the meanwhile, I will certainly show you that fiat moneys have not succeeded, and the only element of fiat moneys that have stood the examination of time is the failure of political systems to stop the devaluation and misusage of this toilet tissue money by allowing the printing presses operate untamed. Fiat Currency -Rome-- The Denarius Although Rome didn't actually have paper cash, it gave among the initial examples of true debasement of a currency. The denarius, Rome's coinage of the moment, was, essentially, pure silver at the start of the first century A.D. By A.D. 54, Emperor Nero had entered the scene, and the denarius was around 94 % silver. By around A.D. 100, the denarius' silver material was to 85 %. Emperors that succeeded Nero such as the concept of devaluing their currency in order to pay the expenses and increase their very own wealth. By 218, the denarius was to 43 % silver, and in 244, Emperor Philip the Arab had the silver content went down to 0.05 %. Around the time of Rome's failure, the denarius included just 0.02 % silver and practically no one accepted it as a medium of exchange or a store of worth. Fiat Currency -China-- Flying Money When the Chinese initially began utilizing paper cash, they called it "flying cash," because it could simply fly from your hands. The explanation for the issuance of paper money is basic. In the 11th century, a bank in the Szechuan province of China gave out paper money for the iron coins. Initially, this was acceptable, since the paper currency was exchangeable for silver, gold, or cotton. At some point, inflation began to hold, as China was funding a continuous war with the Mongols, which it eventually lost. Fiat Currency -Additional Current Moments In recent times, fiat failures have come to be much more usual incidents. For time, I will not enter into comprehensive details of all these instances of paper cash failures, because there are SO lots of. Below you have it:. In 1932, Argentina had the 8th biggest economic climate in the globe prior to its money broke down. In 1992, Finland, Italy, and Norway had currency impacts that spread through Europe. In 1994, Mexico experienced the well known "Tequila Hangover," which delivered the peso plunging and spread out economic difficulties throughout Latin America. Fiat Cash -Lessons to Be Discovered. Right here in the UNITED STATE, I should state the lessons were not know. There are numerous uniformities from the above-mentioned tales that got at the ultimate collapse of the moneys. The scary thing is that the UNITED STATE has several of these above-mentioned attributes, the ones that cause toilet tissue money becoming simply that. Much more on that in simply a second. I would initially like to give a short review the UNITED STATE attempts with paper cash in our brief record. We are presently increasing the provide of bucks at a rate of 13 % each annum. This overissuance of a currency has actually been the leading indication of a currency on the brink. Exactly what's in the future for the buck? After the revaluation in 1934, the dollar dropped another 41 %. In my viewpoint, it already is commode paper cash, but for the above-mentioned characteristics, which are alarmingly similar to the circumstances that led up to the ultimate failure of the dollar's commode paper predecessors, I think that we have seen just the idea of the iceberg of the buck's unpreventable course toward ending up being toilet paper cash. Rome didn't really have paper cash, it provided one of the first examples of real debasement of a money. When the Chinese first began using paper cash, they called it "flying cash," because it might simply fly from your hands. The scary point is that the U.S. has some of these above-mentioned features, the ones that lead to toilet paper money becoming simply that. In my point of view, it currently is toilet paper cash, but for the above-mentioned characteristics, which are amazingly comparable to the circumstances that led up to the resulting failure of the buck's commode paper predecessors, I think that we have seen only the pointer of the iceberg of the dollar's inescapable path toward coming to be commode paper money. fiat money
