About this video:
In this video, you will learn the different ways to start to build your email list.
The first step is to choose an email marketing software. We use Convertkit for our business, we also like Mailchimp and AWeber. With most email marketing software options, you can sign up for a free trial to figure out if it meets your needs.
After choosing an email marketing software, there are several ways to collect email addresses.
A form on your website. These are usually placed in the footer or on your homepage or within each blog post.
Pop-ups and floating bars / hello bars - The bars remind the viewer to sign up while they browse your website on the top or bottom of the page. You can configure pop-ups when someone lands on your website, after spending a certain amount of time on the page or when they are moving to close the browser window or hit the back button (exit intent). Software to help you set up pop-ups and bars are Optinmonster, Sumo and Hello Bar.
Landing pages. Landing pages are websites set up for the viewer to perform a single action (give their email address). Visitors will see an offer from you and decide to give their email or not. Many times landing pages will give away things like free eBooks, checklists, webinar, email course, etc. By giving something away for free is one of the most effective way of obtaining emails.
