Richest Country Comparison (All 188 Countries Ranking)
An animated comparison of the richest country in the world. All 188 countries ranked according to their National Wealth - how rich are they, and if all their money were to convert to gold, how big will the amount of gold they have relative to the size of a human. Also featuring World's richest person Jeff Bezos who is richer than over 100 countries, and Apple, the richest company, which market capitalization is richer than over 150 countries! Source: Credit Suisse (Global Wealth Data Book 2017) Note: 1) Figures listed refers to National Wealth and NOT GDP!!! National Wealth refers to the cumulative sum of every adult marketable value of financial assets plus non-financial assets (principally housing and land) less debts. 2) All 195 United Nation countries included except for Cape Verde, Nauru, Palestine, St Kitts and Nevis, South Sudan, Tuvalu and Vatican City due to lack of available data. 3) Solid Gold Cube refers to a theoretical 1m by 1m by 1m 100% Gold Cube purchased at the current market price. It does not represent Gold Reserves but rather how much gold can be bought if all national wealth/financial assets were converted into gold. "Terra Mineralia" in Freiberg (Germany) - the largest private collection of minerals in the world
If you are a geologist, a novice artist looking for inspiration, or just a lover of beautiful things, the Museum of Terra Mineralia in the historic Freiberg castle Freudenstein will generously reward you for the time spent in it. The well-known collector of minerals Erika Pohl-Ströher, though a Swiss by nationality, was born in Saxon Germany. Her collection as a whole numbered more than 80 thousand minerals, precious stones and meteorites and was collected for 60 years, it is called the largest private collection of minerals, precious stones and meteorites in the world. In 2004, Ms. Ströher generously offered to transfer more than 3,500 of her best "samples" to the Freiberg Mountain Academy, provided that they were properly looked after, and that the samples would be made available to the general public. This collection is currently the lion's share of the museum's exposition. The collection is located in the historical castle of Freiberg, beautifully restored and reconstructed specially for this collection. Four halls are brilliantly exhibited samples from Africa, America, Asia and Europe, each of which is made in its own style, which creates a sense of continuous movement for visitors "around the world." Exhibits from Australia are a separate unit. In the museum, in addition to all there are corners, where you can look at the minerals in the dark with ultraviolet illumination. For scientists and students, samples are available for research and study, since many of them are obtained from regions that no longer exist. Also, the museum has an interesting proposal for those who have a mineral or a breed, which I want to know more about. At the preliminary request, for 14 days, the staff of the museum using an electron microscope will perform a mineral analysis for you. EGU GIFT2015: International co-operation and exploration of mineral resources
Geosciences Information For Teachers workshop presentation by Bernhard Stribrny (Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources, Hannover, Germany) at the 2015 General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union. The 2015 GIFT Workshop, http://webtv.egu.eu/gift/2015/, was titled Mineral Resources. (Credit: EGU/Luca Mariani, www.lucamariani.me) The EGU Committee on Education has organised Geosciences Information For Teachers (GIFT, http://www.egu.eu/education/gift/) Workshops since 2003. These are two-and-a-half-day teacher enhancement workshops held in conjunction with EGU's annual General Assembly. There, selected top-level scientists working in the Earth Sciences offer the invited teachers talks centered on a different theme every year. The main objective of the GIFT workshops is to spread first-hand scientific information to science teachers of primary and secondary schools, significantly shortening the time between discovery and textbook, and to provide the teachers with material that can be directly transported to the classroom. In addition, the full immersion of science teachers in a truly scientific context (EGU General Assemblies) and the direct contact with world-leading geoscientists are expected to stimulate curiosity towards scientific research that the teachers then transmit to their pupils. The use of GIFT videos is allowed exclusively for educational purposes.

Davenport Resources aims to bring unique German potash assets into JORC compliance
Davenport Resources Ltd (ASX:DAV) non-executive chairman Patrick McManus speaks to Proactive Investors about the agri-minerals company’s South Harz Potash Project in central Germany. In July of this year Davenport received three perpetual mining licences for the German project, unique concessions that carry no expenditure commitments or royalties on production. “We’ve got this huge body of data that came with the purchase of the mining licences and our geological team have been reviewing that,” McManus says. He continues, “[we’ve] identified Soviet-era resources on all three of the licences and we’re now in the process of … updating it to JORC-compliance.”
Avrupa Minerals pushing ahead with prospect generator model
Paul Kuhn, chief exec of Avrupa Minerals (CVE:AVU) discusses the company’s strategy and portfolio of mineral deposits in Portugal, Kosovo and Germany. Avrupa’s ‘prospect generator’ model avoids the pitfalls of exploration stocks: i.e high exposure to a single project, high rates of dilution and low odds of success. It’s diversified through a portfolio of copper, zinc, tungsten, silver and iron oxide and specialises in recruiting partners with deeper pockets to fund drilling programs. The end-game is to have a minority stake in an operating mine further down the line and, ultimately, create value for shareholders.
How Israel developed the most technologically advanced military across the globe
How Israel developed the most technologically advanced military across the globe Unlike its Arab adversaries, Israel did not have natural resources to fund its economy. There was no oil or minerals. Nothing. The delegation held a couple of meetings but was mostly met with laughs. The Israelis were trying to sell oranges, kerosene stove tops and fake teeth, the New York Post reports. For countries like Argentina, which grew its own oranges and was connected to the electrical grid, the products were pretty useless. It’s hard to imagine this is what Israeli exports looked like a mere 67 years ago. Today, Israel is a high-tech superpower and one of the world’s top weapons exporters with approximately $6.5billion (£5.2billion GBP) in annual arms sales. Since 1985, for example, Israel is the world’s largest exporter of drones, responsible for about 60 percent of the global market, trailed by the US, whose market share is under 25 percent. Its customers are everywhere — Russia, South Korea, Australia, France, Germany and Brazil. In 2010, for example, ?ve NATO countries were ?ying Israeli drones in Afghanistan. How did this happen? How did Israel, a country not yet even 70 years old, become a superpower with one of the most technologically advanced militaries in the world that is changing the way modern wars are fought? The answer, I believe, is a combination of a number of national characteristics unique to Israel. First, despite Israel’s small size, about 4.5 percent of its GDP is spent on research and development, almost twice the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development average. Of that amount, about 30 percent goes to products of a military nature. By comparison, only 2 percent of German R&D and 17 percent of the US R&D is for the military. Another major contribution is the culture of innovation and creativity in Israel. Israelis are more willing to take risks than other nations. They get this from their compulsory military service during which they are tasked, at a young age, to carry out missions often with deadly consequences. While Israeli 19-year-olds embark on operations behind enemy lines, their Western counterparts can be found in the safety of their college dormitories. Lastly, Israel has been in a perpetual state of conflict since its inception, fighting a war almost every decade. This reality, of having your back up against the wall, sharpens the mind. It forces Israelis to be creative and come up with innovative ways and weapons to survive. This is the Israel story … Robotic border patrols :: The Guardium is a part of a new category of robotic weapons known as Unmanned Ground Vehicles or UGVs. Israel is the first country in the world using these robots to replace soldiers on missions like border patrols. In addition, soldiers require breaks, food and water. All a Guardium needs is a full tank of gas. Other UGVs in use by the IDF include the Segev, which is based on a Ford F-350 pickup truck. Facing terrorists who use tunnels to infiltrate into Israel from places like the Gaza Strip, Israel is also relying on UGVs like robotic snakes to slither their way into underground passageways and enemy headquarters. The robots will then map out the structures, giving soldiers an accurate picture of a battle area before the place is stormed. The same is happening at sea. Israeli defence contractor Rafael has developed an unmanned patrol ship called Protector which is being used by Israel to protect its strategic ports and patrol the country’s long Mediterranean coastline. The Arrow anti-missile programme :: In 2000, the Israeli air force received its ?rst operational Arrow missile battery, making Israel the ?rst country in the world with an operational system that could shoot down incoming enemy missiles. Mini Spy Satellites :: In 1988, Israel launched its first spy satellite into space, gaining membership in the exclusive club of just eight nations with independent satellite-launching capabilities. From the beginning, there were those who doubted Israel was capable of developing, building and launching its own satellite, but in the nearly 30 years since that day, it has grown into a satellite superpower, now operating eight different spy satellites in space. Drones :: It is referred to in Israel as the “drone that can reach Iran.” The Heron TP is Israel’s largest unmanned aerial vehicle with an 85-foot wingspan, the same as a Boeing 737 airliner. It can stay airborne for 24 hours and carry a 1-ton payload. The top-secret tank :: To this day, the Merkava tank is one of Israel’s most top-secret projects. It is said to be one of the most lethal and protected tanks in the world, and its construction started out of pure necessity — the United Kingdom and other countries refused to sell Israel tanks.

Spirited away - Mongolia's mining boom and the people that development left behind
In June 2011 four civil society organisations from across the globe -- CEE Bankwatch Network in eastern Europe, urgewald from Germany, Bank Information Center in the US and Oyu Tolgoi Watch from Mongolia -- traveled to Mongolia's south Gobi desert. The purpose of the visit was to better understand the environmental and social impacts of the development of the Tavan Tolgoi and Oyu Tolgoi mining projects in the Gobi. What they discovered was that the pressures from mining placed on the desert's scarce natural resources was driving the Gobi's traditional herder's to the edge of survival.

Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum (DBM) - CORPORATE VIDEO
The extraction, processing and utilization of mineral geo-resources, subsumed here under the term 'mining', is a subject with great significance for the development of human civilization. The global importance of mining is increasing today, and will no doubt continue to do so in future. This is clear from the political campaigns and the intense media reactions associated with issues of raw material supplies and shortages, and also resource conservation (recycling and the use of renewable energy sources). The work of the Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum, as the leading international museum on the mining industry, takes place within this socially relevant context. As one of the Leibniz Association's research museums, the DBM is devoted to investigating the extraction, processing and utilization of mineral raw materials in the context of social, cultural, ecological and economic dynamics, spanning different historical periods. The museum shows the lasting impact which these processes have had on the development of society, and preserves relevant evidence for future generations. In short: The Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum is the cultural memory of the mining industry.
Cambridge Mineral Resources boss on AIM return and Andalusia ambitions
Mark Slater, chief executive of Cambridge Mineral Resources, discusses plans to relist the junior miner on AIM after six years as a private company. The firm, founded in 1992, was quoted on AIM but delisted in 2009. Its main focus is the Iberian Pyrite Belt in southern Spain where Cambridge is investigating the Masa Valverde copper-zinc deposit near Huelva, which is being developed in partnership with Glencore. Cambridge is also evaluating a number of other mining projects in Andalusia.

Mineral Resource Estimation Conference: Andreas Brosig (07.10.18)
Mineral potential mapping and resource estimation in 2D and 3D with Artificial Neural Networks Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) are well suited to analyze geoscientific data, since they can cope with incomplete, patchy or noisy data. Application of ANN has been limited by the lack of software that handles the “translation” of different data sets to ANN-readable data, the training and application of the ANN itself and the evaluation of the model output. These aspects are covered by the advangeo® Prediction Software. The “translation” tools are classification of linear features according to their size, type and direction, as well as classification of rocks according to their chemical and physical properties, ages and connection to tectonic events. “Halos of influence” are created around the features to consider the spatial uncertainty of data and reflect distances to important minerogenic factors. For gridded data such as geochemical and geophysical fields derivatives and gradients are calculated. The introduction of a knowledge component allows creating hybrid models that are able to consider known dependencies and regularities. This approach increases the sharpness of the prediction accuracy considerably. Calculation results can be verified by different methods, including error curves, distribution analysis, cross validation and field verification. The importance of the different model input data can be analysed by several methods that calculate the sum of the weights that originate from a specific data layer. Depending on the available data, 2D or 3D prognoses can be calculated with qualitative (favourability) or quantitative (e.g. grades, tonnage per grid cell) parameters. The limiting factor is that the ANN requires training data of the same type as the prognosticated value. Thus, in poorly explored areas, mineral potential maps based on known mineralisations could be created. In developed mining districts, a 3D prognosis of ore tonnages per volume element could be created based on known resource blocks and the production data of mined-out areas. Because of the long mining history and the large amount of geological, geochemical, geophysical and mineral data, the Erzgebirge (East Germany) was selected as a test case. Since the 12th century, the Erzgebirge has been an important centre of metal mineral mining, especially for Ag, Fe, Cu, Sn, W and later U. The developed 3D model covers an area of 9500 sqkm to a depth of 3000 m below sea level, providing an excellent framework for predictive mapping of minerals mineable in the near future. It focuses on the ore controlling litho-stratigraphic and tectonic framework with detailed consideration of intrusives and the close integration of known Sn and W occurrences, modelled using data either from literature or provided by exploration companies. Key to predictive modelling is the creation of separate models according to the genetic types of deposits (e.g. Sn in skarns or pneumatolytic veins) to fully account for the different geological factors controlling different types of ore genesis. Currently, a qualitative 3D mineral potential model for Sn exists for a 1600 sqkm subarea. Quantitative 2D predictions for Sn and W in a 740 sqkm subarea confirm older predictive models where they exist and extend predictions of ore tonnages to new areas.

BGR Indian Ocean Exploration on polymetallic sulfides
Federal Institute for Geoscience and Natural Resources Germany (BGR) - the provided movie gives an impression on the different data quality and shows the possibilities of a deep-towed system. Note that the mapped plumes in the water column data are not reflections of water-gas contact, but is detected due to slightly different densities (suspension & temperature) between the seawater and the exhalation. The data from the movie is a collection of MBESS’s of different manufacturer in different formats and quality levels. BGR use QPS Fledermaus, FMGeocoder-Toolbox, FMMidwater and recently Qimera to visualize and analyze the acquired data with great success.

Why Some Countries Are Poor and Others Rich
The reason why some countries are rich and others poor depends on many things, including the quality of their institutions, the culture they have, the natural resources they find and what latitude they're on. Genocide in Southern Cameroon
BREAKING NEWS FROM THE MASSIVE FAILURE OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AND WORLD LEADERS TO PROSECUTE WAR CRIMES PRISONER PAUL BIYA FOR GENOCIDE AGAINST AMBAZONIANS SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THEIR DEEP DIRTY AND SELFISH INTEREST IN THE POLITICS OF AMBAZONIA NATURAL RESOURCES. These world powers namely France, Great Britain, Germany, China, Russia, all have deep interest and profit making from Ambazonia mineral resources. They are empowering Paul Biya to stay in power in order to safe guard their easy access to Ambazonia natural resources. These western powers are the most corrupt trouble makers in Africa and can't survive without Ambazonia mineral resources that they have been stealing for the past 57 years. Why would United Nations security council members like china, france, great britain and russia be sponsoring mass killings and worst genocide in cameroonbecause of selfish interest in getting and exploring Ambazonia natural resources to enrich their countries while Ambazonians remain with no roads, no schools, no houses, no jobs, no good drinking water and better healthcare system for their citizens.? Above all, it was the UN that failed miserably because they too are corrupt. But what have they learned from it corrupt secretary general who collected bribed from Paul Biya and France to stay silent? In reaction to the fiasco and worst genocide in Rwanda and South Sudan? the UN developed a new system in 2005, with their Responsibility to obliges states to protect their population from grave human rights violations, genocide and ethnic cleansing. and If a state like dirty and evil Cameroon does not fulfill its responsibility to protect it's people, the international community can assume this responsibility and intervene militarily. That has not happen in Ambazonia. Instead soldiers wearing United nations uniforms and hats were the ones looting, and killing Ambazonians in burning houses. The international community must irrevocably pledge to help Ambazonia quickly, efficiently and exclusively to protect human rights as many Ambazonians are being killed with their homes and cities being burnt down to ashes. The international community made a fatal mistake by not forcing Paul Biya to call for inclusive dialogue. United nations is silent in forcing Paul Biya to call for inclusive dialogue because almost all of the members of united nations security council are deeply involved in sponsoring genocide in southern cameroons due to mineral resources.United nations should never again look the other way when such terrible crimes of genocide are committed against innocent Ambazonians by it'sown members namely France, Great britain, Russia and China who giving money and military weapons to Paul Biya to kill more Ambazonians in order for them to steal Ambazonian resources. May the mighty effort of Unted States of America in fighting for the freedom and liberation of Ambazonia lead to complete separation and independence in the mighty name of Jesus Amen.
The Global Supply of Critical Materials: Critical Raw Materials - The EU Approach
No country in the world produces all of the mineral resources necessary for modern society. International trade plays a critical role in providing these raw materials, forming a global network of production, export, import, and use. This network must continuously adapt to national and international developments in science, technology, politics, and economics. As a result, information on the global flow of raw materials plays a fundamental role in improving national and international resilience to potential supply disruptions and market changes. This is the second presentation from the AGI Critical Issues webinar, "Tracking the Global Supply of Critical Materials". This webinar focuses on U.S. and European Union (EU) efforts to gather information and develop tools that can be used to ensure a secure national and global supply of mineral resources; identify and quantify vulnerabilities in this supply; and stimulate national and international co-operation, education and outreach, and innovation in the development, recycling, and substitution of key mineral resources. Our speakers include: Nedal Nassar, Chief, Materials Flow Analysis Section, National Minerals Information Center, U.S. Geological Survey Vitor Correia, President, European Federation of Geologists, and co-ordinator of the EU’s INTRAW project This webinar is co-sponsored by the American Geophysical Union, American Institute of Professional Geologists, Australian Institute of Geoscientists, European Federation of Geologists, Geological Society of Africa, Geological Society of London, Geoscience Information Society, Mineralogical Society of America, and Society of Economic Geologists, with media partnership from the U.S. Geological Survey. An animation by ESA. date- 22 Oct 08. Source/more info- http://www.esa.int/esaCP/SEMCYMY5KMF_index_0.html 'Chandrayaan-1, Indias first mission to the Moon, was successfully launched earlier this morning from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR) in Sriharikota, India. The PSLV-C11 rocket, an upgraded version of the Indian Space Research Organisations (ISRO) Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, lifted off at 02:52 Central European Summer Time (CEST) and, about 20 minutes later, injected the spacecraft into a highly elongated orbit around Earth. This marked the beginning of Chandrayaan-1s journey to the Moon, which will culminate with a major manoeuvre the lunar orbit insertion in about two weeks. Once the spacecraft is orbiting the Moon, further manoeuvres will progressively lower its altitude to the final 100 km-high circular orbit. Main objectives: Analyse geological, mineralogical and topographical aspects of the lunar surface in unprecedented detail Study the vertical distribution of crustal material Investigate the processes that led to the formation of craters, maria and basins on the Moon Explore space weathering processes, that result from the interaction of the solar wind and cosmic rays with the Moons surface Analyse the magnetic anomalies on the lunar surface Search for ices at the poles Produce 3D maps of regions of particular scientific interest at high spatial resolution (5-10 m) Drop an impact probe on the lunar surface to test near-surface properties and test impact technology Instruments on board: The Chandrayaan-1 Imaging X-Ray Spectrometer (C1XS), developed by the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) in the UK in collaboration the ISRO Satellite Centre, Bangalore. It will measure the abundance of magnesium, aluminium, silicon, iron and titanium over the surface of the Moon. The Smart Near-Infrared Spectrometer (SIR-2), developed by the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Science, Germany. It will explore the mineral resources of the Moon, the formation of its surface features and the different layers of the Moons crust. The Sub-kiloelectronvolt Atom Reflecting Analyser (SARA), developed by the Swedish Institute of Space Physics in collaboration with the Space Physics Laboratory of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, India. It will study the way the Moons surface interacts with the solar wind, and the surfaces magnetic anomalies.'
