IAS 21 The Effects of Changes in Foreign Exchange Rates

07:38
http://www.ifrsbox.com This is the short summary of IAS 21 The Effects of Changes in Foreign Exchange Rates. In today's world, the entities carry out their foreign activities in 2 ways: 1. They have some transactions in foreign currencies, or 2. They Have a foreign operation. An entity can also decide to present its financial statements in some foreign currency other than their own. The objective of IAS 21 is to prescribe • How to include foreign currency transactions and foreign operations in the financial statements of an entity; and • How to translate financial statements into a presentation currency. Functional currency is the currency of the primary economic environment in which the entity operates. It is the own entity's currency and all other currencies are "foreign currencies". The primary economic environment is normally the one in which the entity primarily generates and expends the cash, but more factors needed to be considered, such as the currency in which the sales prices are denominated, etc. Presentation currency is the currency in which the financial statements are presented. How to report transactions in FUNCTIONAL CURRENCY Initially, all foreign currency transactions shall be translated to functional currency by applying the spot exchange rate between the functional currency and the foreign currency at the date of the transaction. Subsequently, at the end of each reporting period, you should translate: • All monetary items in foreign currency using the closing rate; • All non-monetary items measured in terms of historical cost using the exchange rate at the date of transaction (historical rate); • All non-monetary items measured at fair value using the exchange rate at the date when the fair value was measured. All exchange rate differences shall be recognized in profit or loss with some exceptions. How to translate financial statements into a PRESENTATION CURRENCY When an entity's functional currency is NOT the currency of a hyperinflationary economy, then an entity should translate: • All assets and liabilities for each statement of financial position presented (including comparatives) using the closing rate at the date of that statement of financial position. • All income and expenses and other comprehensive income items (including comparatives) using the exchange rates at the date of transactions. All resulting exchange differences shall be recognized in other comprehensive income as a separate component of equity. The pleasure of annoyance, salem2salem

05:09
Komposition von Philippe Wozniak mit Michael T. Otto (Flügelhorn) und Hans Winkler (Performance); Cover(Grafik): Hans Seidl; Kamera: Hans Winkler. Videos zum internationalen Künstleraustausch salem2salem. Videoclips of the international exchange of artists; premiered at the Library of Schloss Salem, 8th August, 2018 Introduction from Philippe Wozniak: "This composition has been created during my residency at Schloss Salem within the artist exchange program “salem2salem” in 2018. At day and night the bells of the monastery in the castle in which I stayed during the program have been ringing every 15 minutes which wouldn’t allow me to get a full night of sleep. Those bells would follow me into my dreams and so it is not surprising that they became the main subject of my composition. In this way the annoyance of sleep deprivation and being constantly confronted with this sound made me process it in a creative way. The five notes written in the score are based on the notes of the bells of Salem. A Japanese legend says that if you can’t sleep at night it’s because you’re awake in someone else’s dream."

Residency BIDE + LaVisiva + Graner 2016

54:00
In this project, three entities linked to the contemporary performing arts, BIDE (Barcelona International Dance Exchange), Creation Center EL GRANER and Creation Center LA VISIVA, joining forces to launch a joint project with the aim of promoting artistic thought and transmission of creation methods concerning improvisation and instant composition. Each entity propose an artist with a particular profile: someone has developed its own methodology and is interested in the tools of instant composition and improvisation at the service of creation. Iris Heitzinger, Julian Barnett and Javiera Peón-Veiga had worked together during 10 days in La Visiva in order to share, in the way they decide, their methodology with the other participants. It asks the artist to do an exercise of transfer his knowledge, sharing a methodology developed throughout his career, with the idea of generating an exchange and open and active dialogue with other artists, to provide new insights and readings of the shared tools. The lab will focus on the tools of composition and improvisation as a methodology for the creation process, rather than the specific themes of work of each artist. We propose an experimental and open framework, where generosity and curiosity of each artist will be involved with the idea of sharing knowledge and concerns and feed the individual and collective artistic experience. In order to share the results of this meeting with the public we propose two actions. On one hand, the artists collect in a written document the content generated in this exchange. With this proposal we want to promote the generation of thought, theoretical content and written documentation in relation to artistic practice. This document will be shared on websites and networks of different entities. On the other hand, we ask the participating artists also share the content generated during the lab in an open session, under the format that seems most appropriate. This video shows the meeting that took place on 23 November 2016 on LA VISIVA, within the program of the SÂLMON Festival.

Tell Me About Yourself - Good Answer To This Tough Interview Question

03:08
How to perfectly answer the "tell me about yourself" job interview question. For more in depth information, check out this article on our blog: https://theinterviewguys.com/tell-me-about-yourself-interview-question Most people screw the "Tell us about yourself" type job interview question up so watch our video to learn exactly what you need to do. Here's what you can expect from this Jeff and Mike Job interview tips video: This video uncovers 3 specific job interview tips when it comes to answering this tough interview question. The problem with the Tell me about yourself question is that it leaves things incredibly open ended and can lead job interviewees down a path that can lead to them being disqualified from the job within seconds! It's no surprise so many people are always trying to figure just how they should be answering this question, after all it's one of the most common opening questions you'll face at an interview. I know both Mike and I screwed up this question for years. As you'll see in the video, the interviewer doesn't care about your personal story. They're not interested in the fact that you grew up with a puppy named "Tex" and that you grew up in a sleepy town in Wisconsin... They want to know about your specific work achievements and strengths! Job interview questions are all about discovering whether you can bring to the position, exactly what they're looking for in terms of abilities and qualities. Ones that are going to benefit the company you are interviewing with. Here are some excerpts from the video: Jeff's bad answer: "Well, I'm from Seattle, Washington, I enjoy mountain biking and cooking and my favorite color is..." Jeff's good answer: Well, I've been in sales for the last 5 years. My most recent experience was in the retail industry, where I was a manager at the Comfy Shoe Company. I was personally responsible for a 30% increase in sales over the last year. I'd say that my main strength is my leadership ability, which was evident in the way I mentored my sales team to reach our lofty goals. What I am looking for is a company that values teamwork and the group dynamic, where I can join a strong team and have a positive impact on the team dynamic and sales revenue. 3 Tips to answering the Tell Me About Yourself question: MIKE There are three main points that you need to remember when answering this question...what's the first one Jeff? JEFF Well, as you saw in my bad answer, you absolutely DO NOT want to go on and on about your personal life or hobbies and interests. MIKE Which leads me to point number two. You want to include specific work achievements from your past in your answer. But there's one final trick right Jeff? JEFF That's right Mike. It is always a good idea to mention your strengths and abilities in your answer. Please leave your comments below, share this video with your friends on Facebook and Twitter, and don't forget... As we talk about in the video, if you want to give perfect answers to interview questions that will get you the job....You need to tailor each answer to exactly what the company is looking for. This is the method that the top job seekers in the world use. It's also helped Mike and I get offers from one job interview after another. There's a bit more to "Tailoring" than I can go into in this description or in the video but we've written a brand new special report that explains this incredibly powerful job interview method. The next thing you need to do if you want to get a job from your next interview is read this report immediately... You can get it for free by clicking the link at the end of the video. Thanks, Jeff & Mike "The Interview Guys"

Yay multiple uploads. This was so fun, actually seeing the way japanese students learnt and studied. Also i didn't film walking into the hall but we had no idea what was going to happen and thats why we were kind of freaking out during that whole thing. Regarding how I managed to go to Japan and be a foreign exchange student, my school has a really good connection with our sister schools in Japan so my insanely dedicated teachers organised the for our whole year 10 class to go on this trip. Some of my friends did go through exchange programs though and they had a great time. Twitter: https://twitter.com/Acadia_B Instagram: http://instagram.com/Acadia_B

Berklee Indian Ensemble ft Shankar Mahadevan - 5 Peace Band (Live at Berklee)

10:47
The Berklee Indian Ensemble is delighted to present “5 Peace Band” featuring renowned Indian composer and vocalist, Shankar Mahadevan. Composed by John McLaughlin, “5 Peace Band” was most notably performed by 'Remember Shakti', the reformation of 1970s indo-jazz fusion group, 'Shakti'. Led by John McLaughlin (guitar) and Zakir Hussain (tabla), 'Remember Shakti' included U. Shrinivas (mandolin), Shankar Mahadevan (vocals), and V. Selvaganesh (kanjira, ghatam, mridangam). It was indeed an honor for our Berklee Indian Ensemble musicians to reinterpret such an iconic composition, and collaborate on this live performance with Shankar Ji as part of the fourth Berklee India Exchange (BIX) Artist Residency. We also dedicate this video in tribute to John McLaughlin who will receive an Honorary Doctorate from Berklee College of Music on July 10th, 2017 in Valencia, Spain. Does Trade Help the Environment?

06:22
Is free trade good for the environment? Many environmental problems become better as a country increases its wealth. More resources are dedicated to taking care of the environment, and citizens of wealthier countries tend to prefer to live in a cleaner environment. There are, however, a small number of environmental problems that become worse as countries produce more, namely an increase in carbon emissions. This video also covers Kuznet's Curve, technique vs. composition effects, scale effects, private vs. social costs of production, and whether companies in wealthier countries ""outsource"" pollution. The global financial system is the worldwide framework of legal agreements, institutions, and both formal and informal economic actors that together facilitate international flows of financial capital for purposes of investment and trade financing. The system has evolved substantially since its emergence in the late 19th century during the first modern wave of economic globalization, marked by the establishment of central banks, multilateral treaties, and intergovernmental organizations aimed at improving the transparency, regulation, and effectiveness of international markets. From the late 1800s to early 1900s, the world experienced rapid growth in human migration, transportation, and communication. Coupled with weak passport requirements, innovations in transportation such as steamships and railway growth accelerated world migration while enhancements in communication technology accelerated the sharing of information. These developments facilitated unprecedented growth in international trade and investment which drove early financial globalization. As the United Kingdom entered World War I in August 1914, the foreign exchange markets became stressed as the money market in London tightened. As investors met increasing difficulty in their remittances to London, the pound remained illiquid and the markets grew paralyzed. Political pressure following stock market turmoil in 1929 prompted the United States to enact protective tariffs on agricultural and manufacturing imports. This spurred a chain reaction as trading partners successively introduced similar tariffs. World trade virtually halted by 1933, worsening the effects of the worldwide Great Depression. In 1934, the United States reversed its trade protectionism and began negotiating reciprocal trade agreements and tariff reductions. From 1934 to 1947, the U.S. entered into 29 such agreements. The legislation's neutrality favored no particular countries and had the effect of equalizing tariffs from trade agreements and reducing tariffs worldwide. The Bretton Woods system emerged in 1944 as the outcome of efforts to revamp the international monetary system after World War II and address issues underpinning the Great Depression and the unsustainability of the international gold standard in the 1930s. The system's improved exchange rate stability facilitated record growth in worldwide trade and investment. It ultimately succumbed to overwhelming market pressures in the 1970s as central banks who needed to hold more U.S. dollars in reserve relied on the United States' consistent dollar deficits. Investors realized the currency was overvalued and speculative investments drove the value of the United States' gold reserves downward to such a degree that the exchange of dollars for gold was suspended in 1971. Investors began selling U.S. dollars in anticipation of adjustments in other nations' currency values, giving rise to large capital influxes that pressured central banks to choose among inflation, questionably effective capital controls, and flexible exchange rates. A culmination of currency devaluations and oil crises led other countries to allow their exchange rates to fluctuate, marking the de facto demise of the Bretton Woods system. The world economy became increasingly financially integrated throughout the 1980s and 1990s as nations liberalized capital accounts and deregulated financial sectors. With greater exposure to volatile capital flows, a series of financial crises in Europe, Asia, and Latin America had contageous effects on other countries. In the 2000s, financial institutions became increasingly large with a more sophisticated range of investment activities. During 2007 and 2008, the United States experienced a financial crisis characteristic of earlier systemic crises, which quickly propagated among other nations. It became known as the global financial crisis and is recognized as the catalyst for the worldwide Great Recession. Following revelations of Greece's falsified fiscal data in 2009, financial markets began to adjust to the realization that Greece was no longer in compliance with the European Economic and Monetary Union. The crisis spread to other European nations experiencing sovereign debt problems and became known as the Eurozone crisis. A country's decision to operate with an open economy and globalize its financial capital carries monetary implications captured by the balance of payments, which can indicate the degree to which a nation is living within its means and can reveal the composition of a nation's wealth as well as its economic competitiveness. Globalized financial capital also carries exposure to systemic risks unique to international finance, such as political deterioration, regulatory changes, foreign exchange controls, and legal uncertainties for foreign investments and property rights. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_financial_system

A. R. Rahman, "Jiya Jale" (Dil Se): Berklee Indian Ensemble (Cover)

06:57
"Jiya Jale" (Dil Se) is a tribute to A. R. Rahman by the Berklee Indian Ensemble in gratitude for his immense contribution to our lives through his inspiring music and journey. A. R. Rahman is an Indian composer, singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and philanthropist. In 2009, Time Magazine placed Rahman in its list of World's Most Influential People. In a notable career spanning two decades, he has garnered particular acclaim for redefining contemporary Indian film music, and putting Indian music on the global map, in a way that no other Indian composer/performer has achieved. On October 24, 2014, Berklee College of Music will confer A. R. Rahman with an honorary doctor of music degree. Berklee Faculty and students from the Berklee Indian Ensemble will pay tribute to the living legend, who will join them on select pieces in a concert celebrating his music and life at Boston's Symphony Hall. Mr. Rahman's visit is a signature event under Berklee India Exchange, a new initiative co-founded by two Indian Berklee alums, Annette Philip (artistic director), and Clint Valladares (artist relations and strategy), as a platform for cultural conversation, through the composition, collaboration, and performance of original Indian music. Proceeds from the concert will go towards a scholarship fund in Mr. Rahman's name for students from India to attend Berklee. This is a huge milestone for the Berklee Indian Ensemble, one of largest and most diverse ensembles at the college, with members representing 37 countries, and counting. Founded in 2011 by faculty member, Annette Philip, the ensemble performs an expansive repertoire of Indian classical, semi-classical, folk, Sufi, and contemporary Indo-jazz music, with the ultimate goal of presenting concerts entirely consisting of original student compositions. Every year, there is at least one composition by A. R. Rahman featured in their repertoire. Berklee Indian Ensemble "Jiya Jale" (A. R.
