In this video Paul Andersen explains how the resources required for survival come from the Earth. The resources are not evenly distributed on the planet and neither are the humans. According to the NGSS we need to limit the use of nonrenewable resources (like oil and coal) through regulations and increase the use of renewable resources. A teaching progression K-12 is also included. Environmental conservation and natural resources depend on protecting our planet. http://YourEarthSafe.com Sometimes the best thing you can do is nothing at all! At YES that's exactly what we do: we protect parcels of virgin wilderness by purchasing them on the free market and placing them in an independently managed international land trust safe from human exploitation. YES is a tool that allows you to become the beneficiary of virgin wilderness (generically referred to as "Land Unit") to help preserve them in their natural state thus allowing you to collaborate in the conservation of the planet. However small it might be, all contributions to environmental protection are always helpful. By joining YES you as an individual are contributing in a very real way to maintaining the global ecosystem, protecting the globall community and letting nature take its course.

Saving Earth's Resources | How to Conserve Natural Resources: Water, Air, and Land Yes, there’s no doubt in the fact that you are supposed to teach your little one everything about maths and science and geography, etc but what’s more important is to educate your child about saving the Earth’s resources because this is something that will come in handy to them once they start growing up. You see, conservation of natural resources should be more of a part of ethics. Like, your kid is supposed to know that he shouldn’t run the tap while he is brushing his teeth because that way he will be wasting water. On the other hand, your little one should be educated about how he can make the Earth a cleaner place to live in by throwing the garbage in the bins instead of on the roads and streets. Your child must also be educated on keeping the air clean by preventing air pollution and the causes of air pollution. Long story short, your little one must know about saving Earth’s resources once you start teaching him the other basics of maths, English and other subjects. The best part is that you can make it fun for your child to learn about how to conserve natural resources. For starters, you can make him watch online Youtube tutorials, you can opt for online courses and you can even play different games and read stories to fit the concept in your little one’s brain that he/she is supposed to be a good citizen and add to the Earth’s development. One of the best ways to teach your child about conserving the natural resources is to buy him a bike and then show him the benefits of opting for a bike instead of a car. You see, these small things and these small practical examples will add a lot to his brain and he will hence understand how the conservation occurs in the first place. This is a Rap - Rock song with lyrics for kids in elementary, middle & high school, about Earth Science. In particular this is a song about natural resources - renewable and non-renewable. More info and free downloads here: http://brambarker.com/scirave/scirave.html#EarthScience · A natural resource can be renewable or nonrenewable. Renewable resources, like trees, replace themselves quickly. Nonrenewable resources, like coal, take thousands or million of years to replace. · People use many resources faster than the earth replaces them. Recycling is a process that treats materials for reuse so that we don’t have to gather as many resources from nature. · All energy resources can be traced back to the sun. The energy resource we use the most are fossil fuels. · Fossil fuels are nonrenewable. They form from the remains of dead organisms that are millions of years old. · Petroleum, or crude oil, is the liquid fossil fuel we get gasoline from. · Gaseous fossil fuels are natural gases. Natural gases power our kitchen stoves. · Coal is a solid fossil fuel that comes from buried, decomposed plant material. Coal is also a rock. · We are always looking for alternative energy sources because obtaining fossil fuels harms the environment. When coal is burned, sulfor dioxide is released and combines with the moisture in the air to make acid rain (sulfuric acid). · Nuclear energy is an alternative source of energy that comes from splitting the nuclei of atoms. This process is called fission, and it releases a lot of energy that is used to run electric generators in power plants. The waste products are easy to contain, but it is hard to know where to bury them. · Solar cells, like the ones on calculators, get their energy directly from the sun. Solar energy does not pollute like many other energy resources, but solar panels are very expensive to make. · Wind is another clean energy source. However, wind turbines are only effective in places where the wind is steady, such as California and north Texas. · Hydroelectric energy uses the power of falling water to make energy. Like wind energy, hydroelectric energy cannot be harnessed everywhere. Dams built to harness this energy also hurt the fish populations and other wildlife. · Underground water is hot enough in some places to evaporate into steam. Geothermal energy uses the steam from natural vents called geysers to power electric generators. Prof. Steve Horwitz addresses the common belief that the world is running out of natural resources. Instead, there are economic reasons why we will never run out of many resources. In a free market system, prices signal scarcity. So as a resource becomes more scarce, it becomes more expensive, which incentivizes people to use less of it and develop new alternatives, or to find new reserves of that resource that were previously unknown or unprofitable. We have seen throughout history that the human mind's ability to innovate, coupled with a free market economic system, is an unlimited resource that can overcome the limitations we perceive with natural resources. By resource is meant any physical entity, which has limited availability. These resources occur in their natural form. Few examples of natural resources are: •Air, wind and atmosphere •Plants (Flora) •Animals (Fauna) •Agronomy (the science of using plants for food, fuel, feed and fiber) •Wildlife •Forestry and Agroforestry •Coal and fossil fuels •Range and pasture •Soils •Water, oceans, lakes and rivers Something that people generally arent aware of, is that everything we use in everyday life are derived from natural resources, for example, milk which comes from cows - animals are a natural resource. We use water, food and vegetables that comes from plants, salt which is a mineral are some of the other natural resources. Wood that we get from tree is a natural resource. It can be used to build a house, make paper, burn in fireplaces and in stoves for cooking, etc. Man utilizes these resources in various ways. These resources are processed further so as to be made suitable for our needs. The table below is an example that shows in what way the resources have been utilized. Humans have exhausted a year's supply of natural resources in less than eight months. Earth “Overshoot Day” marks when our demands on the planet exceed its ability to regenerate resources. The world's population is currently consuming roughly 1.6 planets a year and with current deforestation, soil erosion, water stress, consumer consumption and a booming population, The Global Footprint Network estimates that the figure should rise to two planets by 2030. Full Chapter Overview: Introduction of natural resources, Application of Air, Movement of Air, Rain, Air pollution, Water, water pollution, Soil, a formation of soil, soil erosion, Biogeochemical cycle, Green House Effect, Global Warming, Ozone Layer Depletion, etc. Natural Resources Natural resources explain the various resources found on Earth and their implications on life. Some resources are more precious than others, while others are quite abundant, but still, hold commercial significance. On a larger, planetary scale, water is the most precious resource on earth. It is crucial as life on earth wouldn’t exist without water. What do you mean by Natural resources? Natural resources are resources provided by nature and are useful for the survival of life. For example - Sun, Forest Water, etc. In other words, we can say, Materials provided by nature on earth which can be used by living organisms are termed to be natural resources. Resources on Earth 1) Air 2) Water 3) Land Three different regions of the earth are biosphere, atmosphere, and lithosphere. Biosphere Everything on earth, living or non-living which is important for the survival of life on earth forms biosphere. The biosphere has two (2) different parts, 1) Living Components such as Plants, Animals, Forest. 2) Non-Living Components such as Land, Air, Water. Atmosphere The atmosphere is the thick layer of air surrounding the earth. Hydrosphere Hydrosphere consists of water present on earth in different forms. Like, in the oceans, rivers, lakes, underground water, etc. Lithosphere The lithosphere is the hard crust surrounding the earth.
