Wp-Cron.php May Be Slowing Your Site - Create A Server Cronjob Instead | WP Learning Lab

06:10
Grab Your Free 17-Point WordPress Pre-Launch PDF Checklist: http://vid.io/xqRL These are two pieces of code referenced in the video: define('DISABLE_WP_CRON', 'true'); cd /home/HOSTING_USERNAME/public_html; php -q wp-cron.php When you create your cronjob make sure you replace HOSTING_USERNAME with the username of your hosting account. To find it see the section below called "Finding Hosting Username". -------- Wp-Cron.php May Be Slowing Your Site - Create A Server Cronjob Instead If your site gets a lot of traffic there is a good chance that the wp-cron cronjob is slowing down your site. The wp-cron.php runs every time a page loads on your site. It's checking to see if the site has any scheduled posts that need to be published. This is fine when a website has low traffic, but when traffic is higher it can become a big problem. Here's how to create a server-side cronjob to fix the problem. An interesting tidbit is that if you schedule your posts they won't publish if no-one visits your site. Or they will publish later than you want because people come to your site after the scheduled publishing time. You might be wonder what is cron job. At it's simplest, it is a script that runs at set times and causes other scripts to run. Like a WordPress scheduled post, for example. Let's get to it. There are two things we need to do to move our cron jobs server-side. First we have disable the wp-cron.php file so it's cronjob stops. Then we need create a cron job on the server. To disable wp-cron.php you need to open your wp-config.php file for editing. Inside that file, just below where you have all your database information, paste the following code on it's own line. define('DISABLE_WP_CRON', 'true'); That will disable the wp cron. Save the wp config file and step one is complete. Next, Finding Hosting Username. To find this open the file manager in your cPanel and look for where it says /home/ at the top of the file hierarchy on the left side. Right after /home/ is your hosting user name. Make note of it because we'll need it soon. Now, back in your cPanel find an option called Cron Jobs and open it. On the following page you will see a section called Add New Cron Job. There you will be able to set the Minute, Hour, Day, Month and Weekday of your cron job. At the bottom of that list you will see an input field called Command. Paste the following code into it, replacing "HOSTING_USERNAME" with your actual username: cd /home/HOSTING_USERNAME/public_html; php -q wp-cron.php For the timing options you can choose whatever you wish. I tend to stick with running the cron every 6 hours. To do that choose the following: Minute - 0 (at the beginning of every hour) Hour - every 6th hour Day - every day Month - every month Weekday - every day That will run the cron job every 6 hours on the hour for eternity or at least until you turn it off. Then click the Add New Cron Job button and you're done. You've created your first cron job. Your server and your host will be thanking you when your site traffic picks up! I hope this information helps you! How To Edit The WordPress Footer | WP Learning Lab

07:17
Grab Your Free 17-Point WordPress Pre-Launch PDF Checklist: http://vid.io/xqRL How To Edit The WordPress Footer | WP Learning Lab To edit the WordPress footer all you have multiple options available to you. You can use the WordPress editor, which is what I show you in this video. You can also edit the footer in the cPanel file manager and via FTP. No matter which method you use to edit your footer, he trick is open the footer.php file. That is where all the footer content is. You'll have to know a bit of PHP to make substantial edits. If you don't know any PHP it's not safe for you to be editing the footer.php file. One wrong move in a PHP template file and you're whole site goes down. Some WordPress themes give you the ability to edit the footer through the theme options panel. Make sure you check in there first and hopefully you can make the edits you need without editing any code. Some themes also use widgets to add content to the footer of your site. If you go Appearance, then Widgets you may see widget areas called footer. Add content to the them, save what you've done and then see how it affected your site. This may be exactly what you're looking for. I hope this information helps you! How To Edit The WordPress Header | WP Learning Lab

04:37
Grab Your Free 17-Point WordPress Pre-Launch PDF Checklist: http://vid.io/xqRL How To Edit The WordPress Header | WP Learning Lab The WordPress header is one of those place where a lot of important things happen. Scripts are called, integrations are set up and validated, stylesheets are imported, and so on. Usually, leaving the header.php file alone is the best plan, but sometimes you have to make additions or changes. Before you do, keep in mind that if you are editing the header.php file of the main theme, then updates to that theme can cause your changes to be overwritten. To avoid this, you'll need to create a child theme. Here's a tutorial to help you do just that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8n1h-85SMQ Once you've created the child theme you'll want to duplicate the header.php file into it by following this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebGrw1h6Hog Once you have the header.php file there we can get to work. If you've followed the tutorials above you can now dive into header file and started editing. If you didn't create a child theme, then there are a couple ways to find and edit the header.php file. First, when in your WordPress dashboard you can click on the Appearance menu and then Editor. On the right side of the page you will the list of files in the theme. One of them will be called header.php. Click on that file and it open it so you can edit the WordPress header. Or you can go through the file manager in your cPanel account. Once in the file manager navigate to wp-content/themes/YOURTHEME. The header.php file is normally in the root of a themes directory. You can also connect via FTP to make edits to files. Now that you've found the header.php it goes without saying that you need to be careful. One wrong move in a PHP file and your whole site will go down until you fix the problem. So only edit the WordPress header if you are comfortable with PHP. I hope this information helps you! Once activated, it will automatically crate pages for login, logout, forget password, and registration. You can use these pages or you can visit the theme's options to configure the settings. You are able to use the plugin's default login stylesheet to style your login as well as whether username, email, or either is used for logging in. It allows you to send custom emails from WordPress for when your users receive emails from your WordPress site. There are also redirect options for when users login how you would like to redirect them. Once logged in you can set it so users have custom links to traverse your site in the login widget while logged in. There are security options for your login in terms of private logins, if you want your site to be private, and the allowed number of login attempts.

WordPress Appearance ,Theme Options, Customization in Hindi/Urdu Step by Step Complete

WordPress Appearance ,Theme Options, Customization in Hindi/Urdu Step by Step Complete Appearance → Menus The Appearance Menus Screen enables a user to create custom navigation menu in place of a theme’s default menu. Support for this feature must be registered in the theme's functions.php file. The WordPress Menu User Guide describes the details of adding, deleting, and maintaining menus. Appearance Menus Screen Screen Options The Screen Options allow you to choose which modules are displayed, or not displayed, in the underlying Screen. Clicking on the Screen Options tab shows a list of the possible modules and options with a check-box next to each. Check the box for each module or option you want displayed, or uncheck the box to not display that module. Click the Screen Options tab again to close the Screen Options. Certain modules, like Posts are hidden by default. Expanding, Collapsing, and Rearranging, Modules The modules, such as Posts, can be expanded, or collapsed, by clicking on the module title bar. In addition, those modules can be moved by hovering the mouse cursor over the module title bar, when the mouse cursor changes to 4-arrows, hold the left-mouse button down, drag the module to where you want to place it, then release the mouse button (this is called drag-and-drop). Create a Menu To create a new custom menu, click the "create a new menu" link, give the menu a name, and click Create Menu button. Note: If the current theme does not support menus, the message, "The current theme does not natively support menus, but you can use the “Custom Menu” widget to add any menus you create here to the theme’s sidebar." will display informing you that widgets can be used to put custom menus in a sidebar. You can create multiple menus. If your theme includes support for more than one menu, you can choose which custom menu to associate with each. You can also use custom menus in conjunction with the Custom Menus widget. Once a menu is created these options are available: Automatically add new top-level pages Check this box so that anytime a new top-level Page is created, that Page will automatically be added to the menu Theme Locations If more than one menu is supported, you can select where this menu should go. Delete Menu Click this link to delete the menu. Deleting also deletes the menu items. Save menu Click this button to save the menu. Add Menu Items After a menu is created, then detail items can be added to the menu. Choose items like custom links, pages, and categories, from the left column to add to the menu. If you have created custom post types or custom taxonomies those too can be added to menus. If you don't see your custom post types or taxonomies, look under the Screen Options to make sure they are checked to be Show on Screen. After items have been added to a menu, drag and drop to put them in the order you want. You can also click each item to reveal additional configuration options. You can also drag a menu item a little to the right to make it a submenu, to create menus with hierarchy. You'll see when the position of the drop target shifts over to portray the nested placement. When you have finished building your custom menu, make sure you click the Save Menu button. You can specify a different navigation label for a menu item as well as other attributes. You can create multiple menus. If your theme includes more than one menu, you can choose which custom menu to associate with each. You can also use custom menus in conjunction with the Custom Menus widget. This screenshot shows an example of the About Menu Item displayed in a hierarchy under the Home Menu Item. Theme Locations Theme locations allow the definition of the placement of your menu. The WordPress Twenty Fifteen theme supports two menu locations. For themes that only support one menu the message 'Your theme supports 1 menu. Select which menu you would like to use. displays. Polylang Multilingual WordPress Plugin 2017 Step-by-Step Install and Setup

14:28
Grab Your Free 17-Point WordPress Pre-Launch PDF Checklist: http://vid.io/xqRL Create a Multilingual WordPress site with Polylang tutorial - https://youtu.be/YpFdmzWCFRc Exclusive for WPLearningLab viewers, up to 50% off hosting: https://wplearninglab.com/wordpress-hosting-offer/ Polylang multilingual WordPress plugin allows you to convert your website into a multi-language WordPress site. This will allow you to reach a wider audience with your content. You will have to the translations yourself or you can hirer translators that integrate directly with the plugin. First things first, let's install the plugin. To install this plugin please log into your WordPress dashboard, hover over Plugins and then click on Add New. On the next page type "Polylang" into the search bar. The plugin we want should be the first one in the top left. The image looks like a parrot's head facing to the right. Click on the Install Now button and then click Activate after it's installed. There are a lot of add-ons for the Polylang plugin. I encourage you to check those out if you need additional multi-language functionality. This plugin allows you to add languages to your site in the plugin settings. By adding a language, it adds functionality to translate any post to that language and adds that language to the sidebar widget. To add languages click on Languages in the lefthand admin menu. On the next page is a simple form that will allow you to add more languages. Add as any as you want. But keep in mind the plugin does not automatically translate your content. All translations are manual. Now that you've added languages click on Posts or Pages in the left side admin menu to those lists. You will see new columns with the country flags of the languages you chose in the header row. In each post or page row you will see either a check mark, a plus sign or a pencil under any given specific country flag. The check mark means that the post in that row is in that language. The pencil means a translation in that language exists and you click on the pencil to edit it. The plus sign means that a translation does not yet exist in that language. You can click the plus sign to create a version for that language. It's important to keep in mind that when a post is translated into all the languages you chose, there will be a separate post for each language. For example, if you have 3 different languages set for your site, if you translate a post into all of those languages you will 3 different posts. One for each language. Once you have some posts translated you'll want to add the sidebar widget to your site so that people can switch between languages. Go to Appearance, then Widgets. In the Available Widgets section there will be one called Language Switcher. Drag it to your sidebar and then customize it. Once you're done, go to a blog post on your site and switch languages using the switcher to see how it works. It's pretty cool. By default, the plugin will detect the visitor's browser's language and pick that language on your site if it exists. You can change that behavior if you go to Languages, then Settings. There is more to the Polylang plugin but this will get you started on the right foot. I hope this information helps you! How To Fix Wordpress Fatal Error

05:11
http://www.andrewqpower.com - How To Fix Wordpress Fatal Error In this short video I show you how to quickly and easily fix a wordpress fatal error (in particular, one caused by WP_Session_Tokens class). The steps: 1, Delete all your wordpress files EXCEPT for your wp-content folder and everything inside it (plugins, themes, uploads) and EXCEPT wp-config.php file in your site's main directory. wp-config.php is used to connect your wordpress site to the database where all your pages/post data (and pretty much everything else) is stored... deleting this file = very bad day! 2, Download latest Wordpress build from wordpress.org and extract to a folder on your computer 3, Upload fresh wordpress build via FTP to where your Wordpress website is (which should still have wp-config.php and wp-content folder still intact and untouched). 4, After uploading all files, navigate to your website via your browser and the site should spring to life. 5, Relax and enjoy the rest of your day with a well-deserved beverage :) If there are other Wordpress videos that you'd love to see, just let me know :) Thanks a lot and have a great day Andrew Q Power Related Keywords for this video: how to fix wordpress fatal error wordpress fix wp-admin how to fix a wordpress website how to fix a wordpress site fix wordpress corruption fix wordpress dashboard fix wordpress errors fix wordpress fatal error fix wordpress fatal error fix my wordpress site fix my wordpress blog fix fatal error on wordpress wordpress quick fix how to fix wordpress fatal error

Edit wp-config.php To Add WordPress Database Credentials | WP Learning Lab

05:50
Download our exclusive 10-Point WP Hardening Checklist: http://bit.ly/10point-wordpress-hardening-checklist Edit wp-config.php To Add WordPress Database Credentials | WP Learning Lab In another video (here: https://youtu.be/wtG1IJ1Wbvs) I showed you how to create a MySQL database for your WordPress site. In this video I'm going to show you how to edit wp-config.php file to include the database credentials. Although many people will be intimidated by it, editing wp-config.php is quite easy once you know the steps. So I encourage you try. The first thing you must do to edit config file is log into the root directory of your WordPress site. You can do this via FTP or the file manager in your hosting account, whatever you're most comfortable with. Find a file called wp-config-sample.php and open it for editing wp-config.php. Scroll down to where it says MySQL Settings. Just below that you will see three important entries: 1. define('DB_NAME', 'database_name_here'); 2. define('DB_USER', 'username_here'); 3. define('DB_PASSWORD', 'password_here'); Carefully replace database_name_here with the MySQL database name you created. Make sure that the single quotes stay, you only want to replace the text database_name_here. Replace username_here with the username you created and replace password_here with the password you created. That's all you need to install WordPress. You can save the file and exit or you can do a couple more tweaks that will make your site more secure. If you want to exit now, simply save the file and close the text editor. Then make sure you change the file name from wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php. If you want to make some security tweaks then keep reading. Scroll down in the wp config file to where it says Authentication Unique Keys and Salts. Keys and salts are unique characters that WordPress uses to make usernames and passwords extra hard for hackers to guess. Go to the URL that is the instructions for the keys and salts (https://api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/salt/). Refresh the page that loads a few times and then copy and paste the block of code that appears on that page. Paste that code block into the wp-config.php file replacing the demo code that exists. And you're done with the unique keys and salts. After that you can scroll down to where it says WordPress Database Table Prefix. By default the database prefix is wp_ and every hacker knows that. Every hacker also knows that 99% of webmasters don't change the prefix. Hackers can take advantage of this information to gain access to your database. This is easily avoided. Simply change the database table prefix to something random. You can only use letters and numbers and the underscore needs to be kept at the end of the prefix. For example, instead of wp_ you could make the prefix be tomfoolery_. The latter is much more difficult for a hacker to guess. That's it for basic wp-config.php security. You can now save the file, exit and rename it to wp-config.php. I hope this information helps you! If you have any questions leave a comment below or ping me @WPLearningLab on Twitter.
