Here are 3 SEO strategies that will boost your rankings! #1: Focus on content Google has this update called Hummingbird, and with Hummingbird, websites who just have content on everything won't do as well as sites which focus on one single niche and are super thorough. You want to be VERY thorough with your SEO content. Poke holes in your content and fill them all up, so then that way people are like, "This is the end all site "that you should end up reading "if you're interested in dating online." #2: Optimize your title tag and your meta description Have you ever done a Google search, and noticed that every time you do it, there is this link at the top, and then there's this one sentence with a link at the top is called the title tag. And the description below is called the meta description. Now think of it this way, if you search for the phrase online dating, and you don't see the word online dating in neither the title or the description, are you going to click on the result? Well if you are, there's something wrong, because why would you click on a result that isn't related to what you're looking for? In addition to that, have you ever searched for a term like online dating? And have you ever noticed that the word isn't in the title or description? That's because Google tracks who's clicking on what listing, and they've learned that when a keyword is in the listing, that same keyword that you're searching for, they know you're way more likely to click through. So in your title tag and your meta description, make sure you include the keyword. But you can't just add the keyword, "online dating," right? The easiest way and what I would do and I wish it was this simple; I will just put "online dating, online dating, online dating, online dating." If I could put it 20 times so people would know that the article is on online dating, I wish I would get more clicks. But it's not that simple. Yes you have to include the keyword in your title and your description, but it has to be appealing. If it doesn't flow in a sentence, it's not easy to read, and it's not appealing or evoking curiosity, no one is gonna click through. #3: Use Google Search Console Did you know that Google gives you a tool that teaches you how to rank number one on Google? Yes I know that sounds ridiculous but it is true, and it's called Google Search Console. If you're not already a user of it, sign up. It doesn't cost a dollar. You're missing out if you're not using it. I can't emphasize that enough. So now that you're using Google Search Console...give it a few days because it takes some time to populate data. You'll see a screen that shows Search Analytics and this shows you all the pages on your website that are getting you traffic. But the cool thing about Google Search Console is they also show you which articles are getting impressions. Take all the keywords you're getting impressions for and start adding them to your copy. Now we have an article on Instagram, and it teaches you how to get over 300 targeted Instagram followers per day. The article is around 10,000 words. When I first wrote that article, it wasn't 10,000 words, it was roughly 2,500. I went to Google Search Console, I saw all the people that are searching for terms related to the article, I added them within that article. I made it more thorough and you know what? My SEO traffic more than tripled to that article. Yes it is that simple. And when I made that change, it didn't happen right away, but I noticed the results within 50 days. That's not a long time. One, it can scale up as quick as you want. As you're willing to spend more money, you get more traffic. You start a paid advertising campaign, you get that traffic today. Two, you can target any region that you want. With paid advertising, if you only do business in California, you can only do ads just in California, If you do business in a specific city, you can also have your ads only show up within that city. That's a beautiful part about paid advertising. Three, you can leverage dayparting. Dayparting isn't common, most people aren't familiar with this and they're not using this. But if you're business is only around from 8 am to 5 pm, and let's say you're in the B to B industry, and you're looking for phone calls, why would you want to pay for ads at 6 pm? Because if someone comes to your website, and they try calling you, no one's going to be there to answer it. With dayparting, it allows you to pick what hours you want your ads to show up. The last thing you want to do, is be spending money during times that you're not in business. The fourth thing, this is my favorite part about paid ads, is you can be very aggressive with your landing pages. With SEO, typically, pages that rank on the top of Google, are very long in content and they have roughly 2000 words. With pay-per-click, if you're landing page has 2000 words, people aren't really going to convert into a customer, or a lead, or a sale. They're probably gonna read your content. That's not what you want. You want them to buy, and that's the beauty of pay-per-click. You can have a very aggressive landing page that focuses on your service, your offer, your product and you can get people to convert much higher from a percentage of how many visitors you're getting to how many customers, than you can from SEO. With SEO, there's a few advantages. One, even if you slow down on SEO, you can keep getting more traffic over time. That's the beautiful part. With paid advertising, the moment you stop, so does your traffic. With SEO, if you slow down, all that traffic that you've built up, doesn't go away. You can still maintain it and get it. Two, SEO traffic is free. And here's what I mean by free, yes, it does take time or energy, or you may have to pay some people to help with link building or content, but it's free because it's so much cheaper and in general, you can do SEO yourself. You don't have to pay an agency or firm to help you with SEO. You can learn it yourself, you can do it yourself and over time you'll notice that your traffic goes up. And the third big benefit is, majority of people when they perform a search, click on the organic listings. #NeilPatel #seo

Are you wondering what is search engine marketing? What is SEM? Our video covers what search engine marketing is and how it differs from search engine optimization. You can run search engine marketing ads through popular channels such as Google AdWords, Bing Ads, Pinterest Ads, Yahoo Gemini, and more. Search Engine Marketing is also referred to as Paid Search Marketing and it involves keyword targeting or marketing your advertisements towards specific keywords or search queries. Search Engine Marketing is a form of Pay-Per-Click Advertising (PPC) where advertisers can pay for each click to their website. Our search engine marketing tutorial and tips will help you simply understand what it means and what it is. Ultimately, your goal is to run ads and have paid listings in the search engine results pages. Those ads will drive visibility to your brand and additional paid traffic to your website. The optimal SEM solution is when your paid traffic from search engines is delivering you a positive Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) and Return on Investment. Important Terms: PPC or Pay-Per-Click or Pay-Per-Call: PPC can refer to you paying for each click to your website or for each phone call to your business. There are mobile call-only ad formats where customers can click to call your business directly. CPC or Cost-Per-Click: The final amount you spend divided by the total number of clicks will give you your final Cost-Per-Click. For example, if you spend $100 and drive $200 clicks, your CPC is $0.50/click. CTR or Click-Through-Rate: Your final total clicks on your ad divided by your total impressions will give you your Click-Through-Rate. Generally, a high CTR vs. competitors signifies an organized and optimized campaign. About the Video: First, we cover the definition of search engine marketing, which is paid ads on search engine results pages. If you go to Google or Bing or any other search engine with paid advertisements, those are search engine marketing ads. There are a ton of channels where you can run SEM ads but Google AdWords is by far the largest SEM channel for advertisers. We show you some different examples of Search Engine Marketing ads through Google, Bing, and Pinterest. There are a ton of examples and a quick Google Search will generally help you understand what SEM ads look like. One important thing to note is that your SEM ads can be images that including product listings. These campaigns are managed by uploading your product feed to the Google Merchant Center and running Google Shopping campaigns. Instead of your standard SEM text ad, you can run SEM visual ads that include images of your products, descriptions, reviews, and more. Search Engine Marketing ads are constantly changing. They used to just be standard text ads where you can click through to a website. Today, you can run clickable mobile ad formats that allow people to call you with one click. You can run Sitelink Extensions and show off 4 different important pages on your website. You can run Review Extensions and show people the average reviews for your business, which can create trust instantly. You can run Structured Snippets, which can show off brands, amenities, neighborhoods, products, promotions, and more. You can run App Extensions so people on a mobile phone can simply download your app, giving them a better user experience. You can run Location Extensions and show where your business is, which can drive additional foot traffic. There are so many different things you can do with Search Engine Marketing ads. The main benefit is you can put your ad directly where people are looking. It's like having your plumbing ad directly in front of people looking for plumbers at that exact moment. It has all but replaced Yellow Pages type advertisements (even though those still exist) because you can dynamically change your SEM ads throughout the year.

SEM - search engine marketing This is an umbrella term that refers to all of the marketing strategies that can be used to market one's business on the search engines.
