How To Accept Bitcoin on Shopify

10:21
In this video I show you how to accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in your Shopify stores. 🎧 Music: “Raw” by Johnny Rock 🎙 Voiceover/Quote by Brock Pierce Whether you love it or hate it, Cryptocurrency and it’s foundation, blockchain technology is the future of the internet as we know it. Or as Brock Pierce (founder of EOS and Blockchain Capital) calls it, “it’s the new internet. -It’s the upgrade.” And just like the earliest Bitcoin investors who made hundreds of millions in a matter of years, it’s the early adopters who come out ahead… So let’s setup your eCommerce business for success. This is how you can accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in your Shopify store. I’ll show you how to accept payments with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash through your checkout pages. 🛠 Step 1: Enable The Alternate Payment Gateway in Shopify From your Shopify dashboard navigate to Settings then Payment Providers and you’ll be able to see all the current payment options you have available in your store durring checkout. Scroll down until you see the Alternative Payments section. From here you’ll see a large list of 3rd party payment gateways and processors to choose from. In this video we focus on using Coinbase Commerce and BitPay. Coinbase let’s you accept Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash, while BitPay is solely used for Bitcoin payments. Coinbase is by far the world’s biggest crypto-exchange and management platform. It’s also the most popular with people just starting out in the crypto space. This is the gateway I choose to use on the Shopify stores, but a lot of people have security/trust concerns with Coinbase. It you fall into that category you can also choose to use BitPay which is also free to use and just as easy to setup. Depending on what you choose, use the links below to signup and create your account on the gateway you’d like to use. ➡️ Sign Up For Coinbase Commerce: https://Commerce.Coinbase.com ➡️ Sign Up For BitPay: https://BitPay.com 🏦 Step 2: Setting up Your Payment Gateway/Merchant Accounts Once you’ve selected who you’re going to use to accept payments you’ll need to setup and verify your account with them. Each service is free to sign up to and only takes 5 minutes to fill out and verify all your details. Basic things like your name, email, business information and where to deposit funds to. You can choose to have payments automatically converted into US dollars and deposited into a regular bank account or sent directly to a crypto wallet for safe keeping. (Some fees apply when transferring to a bank). 🔗 Step 3: Linking Your Account Your Shopify Store Once everything is setup and ready to go you just need to link your new account to your Shopify store via copying and pasting the provided API keys in the Alternative Payment gateway section we found earlier. For Coinbase Commerce you’ll find your default API key right on your main dashboard after logging in. For BitPay, you need to navigate to Payment Tools, Integration Resources then Legacy API Keys. Click the “Add New API Key” button at the top to create a new key. Before you copy it click edit and rename it to something you’ll recognize to keep your account organized as you add more websites. So if you only intend on using it on this one website title it something like “Shopify” or enter the names of each store. Once you have your API keys created and ready to go, navigate back to Shopify and paste them into the new gateway and click save. That’s it! I hope you guys enjoyed this video. Accepting Bitcoin as Payment: Smart Business Move or (HUGE) Mistake?

06:11
Is Bitcoin the future and should you accept cryptocurrency as payment for your services? ►Subscribe: https://goo.gl/ScRTwc to learn more secret SEO tips. Find me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/neilkpatel/ Read more on my blog: https://neilpatel.com/blog It's Neil Patel here for another Q and A Thursday video. I'm here with Adam LoDolce from https://viewership.com/. And this weeks question is from Maxell Graves, and the question is basically, what are the steps in accepting Bitcoin for payment after service is rendered. Basically, should you accept Bitcoin as payment? Here's the thing, I do believe cryptocurrency is a large part of the future, of blockchain, is. But there's a big problem right now with accepting Bitcoin as payment. You as a business have a specific profit margin. That profit margin could be five percent, 10 percent, 30 percent. Although I do believe it is the future. But what I would do if I were you is, I would not take Bitcoin as payment right now. It's risky because it fluctuates so much. And it was like the stock market. What most people don't realize about the stock market, is if you think back into the 50's, 60's, or 70's, or whenever the stock market was a lot newer, there wasn't as many people trading. Take cash payment and then if you want more Bitcoin, use the cash to buy it. But at least you know if something happens to Bitcoin in a day, and it drops 50 percent, I'm giving a crazy extreme, at least you're not out 50 percent, and you lost money on a transaction. You don't want to lose money because that could make your business go bankrupt. You want to ideally take USD for now, unless you're super cash rich and you don't have to worry about that. Take the USD, then if you want Bitcoin, use the cash, use the profits to buy more Bitcoin. Because even if you take Bitcoin as payment, if you live in the U.S., what you're supposed to do is, you're still taking some currency. As I mentioned what I would do is take USD and then if you believe in cryptocurrencies, in the long run, go and buy Bitcoin, hold onto it, but don't take it as your main payment source because it's too volatile when you have thin margins. If your margins are 500 percent, yeah, by all means you can take Bitcoin, you have very little to lose, and I think it's an interesting bet right cause as a lot of successful people say, it's the internet currency of the gold, or no it's a gold equivalent for the internet. Let's hear from you guys in the comments. Have you ever accepted Bitcoin as payment? Leave a comment below. Or if you've ever considered doing that, we'd love to hear from you guys. Thank you very much. And if you have any more questions, leave it below, we may answer that question on next weeks Q and A Thursday video. Appreciate you guys. Either way, I'll respond to your question and answer it myself. Make sure you like, comment, share, subscribe. Appreciate you guys watching.

[HOW TO]- Store Bitcoin On USB Stick - Guide

14:01
In this video I'll show you how to make a secure and encrypted USB Bitcoin Wallet. I'm going to use MultiBit to create this wallet and then store it onto a USB thumb drive for safe keeping. I'm also going to copy the contents of the USB drive onto multiple other USB drives so that my money is backed up in multiple locations. This way, if anything happens to one of my USB wallets, I can fall back on a copy that I made, and recover the bitcoins (BTC). Even though there are copies of my wallet files, they will all be updated to the real balance if any one of them is modified. This is because the private keys, once accessed with your password or pass phrase, within the Bitcoin network ultimately keep track of the money associated with them. This is why we can create this wallet offline, and allow the network to synchronize and verify that the funds that are supposed to be in our wallet appear. If necessary, we can send the funds from the USB stick to another wallet, either Online, Cloud, or Offline cold storage. Thanks for watching! I spent a day trying to pay for things with bitcoin and a bar of gold

02:34
Ray Dalio, the founder of the largest hedge fund in the world, told Henry Blodget that investors should have 5% to 10% of their portfolio in gold. During that same interview, Dalio called bitcoin a "speculative bubble" and said "bitcoin is not an effective medium exchange by and large" and "it's not easy to buy things with the bitcoin." Dalio isn't the only one asking these questions about bitcoin. If bitcoin really is a currency, then it is important that you can buy things with it. But this may not be a fair argument. We all seem to accept gold as a storehold of wealth and as an alternative currency even though you really can't make purchases with gold. So in an effort to fairly compare gold and bitcoin in this vein, we went out into the world to see how easy it was to spend both in everyday transactions. It turns out it isn't easy to spend either. The only person we could find who accepted gold in New York City was Donald Trump in 2011. Bitcoin is slightly easier to spend. We couldn't use our bitcoin at Subway, which is on a few lists of retailers that accept bitcoin. Le Village, a restaurant in New York's East Village that many have reported accepts bitcoin, was closed down when we tried to eat there. But we did have some luck spending bitcoin. We found that it was easy to use bitcoin on Overstock.com. Also, my daughter's preschool accepts bitcoin for tuition payments. But if you really want to use bitcoin in everyday transactions, you can get a debit card that allows you to spend bitcoin easily. But maybe we are simply using the wrong words when we talk about bitcoin. As Adam Ludwin, the founder and CEO of Chain, says in his open letter to Jamie Dimon, "since this isn't about cryptocurrencies vs. fiat currencies let's stop using the word currency." He goes on to say that he prefers to think of them as "crypto assets." New Coinbase Commerce Connects to Shopify & Allows you to Accept Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum & BCash

13:06
Coinbase has recently rolled out Coinbase Commerce which is a new site and feature which allows merchants to accept cryptocurrency directly into their wallet. You may be wondering how is this any different from BitPay or Coinbase's previous attempt at crypto payment processing? From the looks of things, again this just came out yesterday so still brushing up on it, it looks as if this service is completely seperate from the Coinbase website so payments will not go into Coinbase. You will have your own wallet that takes in the payment. Why is this interesting? Well with BitPay and Coinbase's previous ecommerce payment system you essentially still had a middleman between you and your customer. In many ways this isn't any different than the traditional merchant processing we do with credit cards. The whole point of crypto is to get the middle men out of the way as they all take fees and impose rules on sellers, have lists of prohibited items, etc. From the looks of it with Coinbase Commerce the payment goes directly from your customers wallet into your wallet, at no point is Coinbase Commerce taking the payment. Because of that I don't believe they are considered a payment processor, it's more like they are just providing a payment gateway. Because of that the program is open to anyone in the world. I don't believe they'll have to issue you a 1099 at the end of the year and best of all there likely won't be any limitations in terms of "prohibited categories" like Paypal, Stripe and most traditional payment processors have. This is something the crypto space has needed for a long time, like I said previous companies to handle crypto merchant processing have really just been another third party invovled in our payments, this platform seems to make the experience of matching payments with purchases easier while keeping Coinbase out of the middle of the transaction. In this video I also walk you through an actual purchase on a Shopify site who's using Coinbase Commerce so you can see what the user experience is like for a customer ********************************** Business Inquiries, Sponsor a Video, or Just Wanna Say What's Up... Exchanges are the easiest way to store your cryptos, but it is by far the least secure. In order to help counteract this vulnerability, the very least you can do is use a very secure password along with two factor authentification. I suggest using a password generator that includes upper and lowercase letters and numbers that is 16 characters long. You can download the free Google authenticator app and link this to any exchange you use. If you are looking to store your crypto for the long term, and you don’t have an interest in trading or transferring them, then I’d suggest looking into what is called “cold storage” wallets. These come in the form of paper wallets and hardware wallets. Cold storage refers to the fact that your coins will be taken offline. These cold storage wallets will give you peace of mind knowing that there is no way for a hacker to access your coins- that is until you decide to bring them back online to either sell or to transfer to a different location. Cold storage is very secure, however they are not the most convenient. Paper wallets can be produced using bit address.org for bitcoin, or you can use walletgenerator.net for other crypto coins. Or you can purchase hardware wallets which are relatively easy to setup and are more convenient for making transactions with your coins than a paper wallet. I’ll include links in the description of this video so you can explore hardware wallets like the tremor, ledger nano S, and the keepKey. Here is a link to a couple of my past videos that spotlight these hardware wallets. There are a couple of things you need to remember when setting up and using a cold storage option. If you are using a paper wallet, upon setup, remember to disable your wifi or internet connection when the address is being produced. Also, never keep any coins in a wallet that you have exposed the private key. If you want to withdraw any crypto out of your paper wallet, I highly suggest that you take everything out of the wallet and if you have any remaining coins you wish to keep in cold storage, make a new paper wallet for them. You can always download the official wallet of the coin onto your computer, for example, you can download the bitcoin core wallet, or the ethereum wallet, the ripple wallet, the dash wallet, the zcash wallet, and on and on, the list continues for all other crypto coins as well. These official wallets are all different with different pros and cons and capabilities. These wallets are far more secure than holding your coins on an exchange, these wallets also make tranferring these coins easier than using cold storage. One major benefit for using official wallets, particularly the ethereum wallet, is the fact that many ICO’s utilize ethereum and in fact require you to invest ether by only using an official ethereum or mist wallet. You can and absolutely should backup these wallets by saving your .dat file on a USB drive in case your computer is lost or damaged. But, these wallets do take up space on your computer, and they might be confusing and are almost always time consuming to set up, however I highly reccomend using these wallets if you don’t want to worry about the lack of security on exchanges, or the hassle of transferring them in and out of cold storage.

BITCOIN - The PRO's & CON's

03:59
BITCOIN - The PRO's & CON's U.S. prosecutors in Manhattan are sitting on a multimillion-dollar bitcoin gold mine. And it could get much bigger. Federal authorities hauled in 29,655 units of the digital currency -- worth $27 million at current exchange rates -- through an official forfeiture by Bitcoin this week. The bitcoins had belonged to Silk Road, an anonymous online black market that authorities say was a conduit for purchases of drugs and computer hacking services -- even a place where assassins may have advertised. It was shuttered after an FBI raid in September, when agents took control of its server and arrested the man they say was its founder in San Francisco. A spokeswoman for Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney for New York's Southern District, said Friday that the government is still trying to decide what to do with the forfeited bitcoins. The timing of any sale could make a big difference in the amount the government could realize. The baffling Bitcoin boom is either an exercise in self-delusion — a high-tech Ponzi scheme that will come crashing down — or an imaginative new Internet technology that could change how millions of people around the world conduct everyday business. There is little middle ground. Called a "digital currency," Bitcoin originated in early 2009 with a software program written by Satoshi Nakamoto. Who is Nakamoto? Good question. It's a pseudonym, and we don't know who's behind it — whether man or woman; individual or group; American, Japanese, Russian or some other nationality. But what seems clear is that Nakamoto owns bitcoins worth "hundreds of millions of dollars," says Jerry Brito, an analyst at the Mercatus Center of George Mason University and a Bitcoin enthusiast. You can do two things with bitcoins: buy stuff, just as with traditional money; and hold them as an investment or speculation, hoping their price will rise. Some shopping does occur with bitcoins. The first retail transaction is usually attributed to Laszlo Hanyecz, a computer programmer in Florida, who in May 2010 persuaded someone to order two pizzas for him in exchange for 10,000 bitcoins. Recently, Overstock.com — an online retailer — agreed to accept bitcoins; the Sacramento Kings basketball team will do likewise. According to coinmap.org, about 2,600 stores and businesses worldwide accept bitcoins, with concentrations in Western Europe, California and New York. Bitcoin's wild price fluctuations seem disqualifying on all counts. A business that accepts bitcoins takes an immediate risk that the funds will lose 5 percent or 10 percent of their worth before they can be converted into traditional money (dollars, euros, yen). By this logic, retail uses will remain limited. For similar reasons, bitcoins flunk as a store of value and unit of account. bitcoin "accept bitcoin" "bitcoin price" value dollar usd currency fed "federal reserve" nerd cryptocurrency bitpay business bitstamp profit investment investing "get rich quick" litecoin u.s. usa "united states" forex "forex trading" "currency exchange" "credit card" bank "bank account" cool hacker hack system matrix linux future 2014 "bitcoin wallet" world tech technology cash "pros and cons" security "litecoin mining" computer "bitcoin trading" shopping "agenda nwo" bitcoin news china chinese europe end the fed silver bullion gold alex jones infowars lindsey williams gerald celente max keiser btc-e exchange jim rogers soros bitcoin trends It seems like a scene out of a late night infomercial. A man steps out of a fancy car, or off of a big expensive yacht, and starts his sales speech. "Make thousands, tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of dollars all from the comfort of your own home. How?! By mining for bitcoin!" Dropping into everyone's lexicon late last year, bitcoin boomed in 2013, going from $13 to $900 on a roller coaster of a ride. Other cryptocurrencies called alt coins, like litecoin and peercoin, gained exposure through bitcoin's fame. Mining these coins can provide a significant income to anyone willing to spend the time and money. Here are five steps to take to start a cryptocurrency mining career. With over 90 different cryptocurrencies on the market, alt coin miners have a plethora of options to choose from. And just like stocks, there are blue chip coins and penny share coins. Blue chip cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and litecoin are considered safer coins to mine, offering more reliable payouts, as investors are actively looking to buy these digital coins. However, the hash rate, or the processing time and power it takes to mine a bitcoin, is much higher than on some of the penny-stock currencies. Pink sheet alt coins, like the meme-based dogecoin or the darknet-intended anoncoin, give miners better net-gain potential. For example, dogecoin is valued at $0.00004 per coin, or four hundredths of a cent.

There are several types of wallets that provide different ways to store and access your digital currency. Wallets can be broken down into three distinct categories – software, hardware, and paper. Software wallets can be a desktop, mobile or online. Desktop: wallets are downloaded and installed on a PC or laptop. They are only accessible from the single computer in which they are downloaded. Desktop wallets offer one of the highest levels of security however if your computer is hacked or gets a virus there is the possibility that you may lose all your funds. Online: wallets run on the cloud and are accessible from any computing device in any location. While they are more convenient to access, online wallets store your private keys online and are controlled by a third party which makes them more vulnerable to hacking attacks and theft. Mobile: wallets run on an app on your phone and are useful because they can be used anywhere including retail stores. Mobile wallets are usually much smaller and simpler than desktop wallets because of the limited space available on a mobile. Hardware: wallets differ from software wallets in that they store a user’s private keys on a hardware device like a USB. Although hardware wallets make transactions online, they are stored offline which delivers increased security. Hardware wallets can be compatible with several web interfaces and can support different currencies; it just depends on which one you decide to use. What’s more, making a transaction is easy. Users simply plug in their device to any internet enabled computer or device, enter a pin, send currency and confirm. Hardware wallets make it possible to easily transact while also keeping your money offline and away from danger. Paper: wallets are easy to use and provide a very high level of security. While the term paper wallet can simply refer to a physical copy or printout of your public and private keys, it can also refer to a piece of software that is used to securely generate a pair of keys which are then printed. Using a paper wallet is relatively straightforward. Transferring Bitcoin or any other currency to your paper wallet is accomplished by the transfer of funds from your software wallet to the public address shown on your paper wallet. Alternatively, if you want to withdraw or spend currency, all you need to do is transfer funds from your paper wallet to your software wallet. This process, often referred to as ‘sweeping,’ can either be done manually by entering your private keys or by scanning the QR code on the paper wallet. At first glance, Bitcoin may sound confusing, however below are ten facts that will truly explain in layman’s terms what exactly bitcoin is and how it came to be. No one single entity controls this currency. Confusing? Yeah most people think too so at first. The general concept of currency and money is that a bank controls it, that there are rises and falls in its value based on the global market, and that you can physically hold it. Bitcoin defies all of these. It is, in fact, controlled by everyone who uses bitcoin as the software used for this currency logs and validates who log and validates activities of the bitcoins across the globe. There’s a finite number of bitcoins. You would think that because there’s no need to physically print the bills or mint the coins that there could be an infinite number of bitcoins in existence; however that would devalue the currency and render it worthless. Instead, there are exactly 21,000,000 coins. Bitcoins have no inherent or set value. If you look at a dollar bill, you know that it is simply a piece of paper with a number on it and some fancy pictures saying that it is “worth” $1. It, in fact, only has value because we say it does. Bitcoins are the same way. Those little digital pieces of code are only worth money because people say they are and want to trade real goods/services for them. The more popular bitcoin gets, the more value is going to be placed on each individual bitcoin. You can see all transactions. The unique thing about Bitcoin is that it is completely transparent. Not with personal data, no, but instead with transactions and amounts. Everything is able to be seen on the block chain and it’s this complete openness that instills a lot of trust and security amongst the Bitcoin community. You can mine bitcoins. Mining bitcoins is a term that actually means you’re using a computer program to solve mathematical problems to verify various transactions around the world. Bitcoin miners then get paid a certain number of bitcoins for solving those problems. You cannot reverse a transaction or be forced to pay. One of the most integral features about bitcoins is that you can never be forced to pay, nor can you take back a transaction. If you send a company some bitcoins for a product, you cannot revoke that transaction nor can they repeat bill you and force money to be taken out. You can send money with little to no fees. If you want to send money to a friend in Thailand and you were in the United Kingdom, you’d likely have to pay bank transfer fees, currency conversion fees, and more. Additionally, your friend may have to wait a few days before the money is available. With bitcoins, there are little to no transaction fees and the money is available almost instantly! Bitcoins are held in digital wallets. Much like when you log into your online bank account and see your balance, you also have a bitcoin wallet that is established when you sign up. This wallet is like a physical wallet, but much more secure. If you lose it, it’s lost forever; however it’s impossible for people to take money from your wallet without you giving it to them. Additionally, if you know a bitcoin address you can see how many bitcoins they have. Losing a wallet means those bitcoins are lost forever. While the bitcoins in the wallet may still be in existence because they were recorded on the block chain, they are no longer able to be spent because the wallet is lost. These bitcoins have unique keys to them and so if they’re lost with a wallet, then they are essentially removed from circulation forever. You can really buy things with bitcoins. Bitcoins may sound a bit farcical at first, but it’s actually a real currency used to buy real things. There is a variety of merchants who accept bitcoins as payment for items, both online stores and physical stores. Popular online stores who accept bitcoins include Newegg, Overstock, Microsoft, Dell, and more. In person stores include Reeds Jewelers, One Shot Hotels, Holiday Inn (located in New York), and even local pizza places, restaurants, and more. You can even use bitcoin to fund a gambling addiction, buy gold bullion, or even to donate to a charity! Bitcoin ATM's Could Be Coming To A Gas Station Or Vape Store Near You (HBO)

04:55
When bitcoin's price skyrocketed last year, suddenly a bunch of people wanted to get in on the action but didn't know how. But the currency's shady origins and digital only echo-system isolated it from a whole swath of interested investors. Soon start-ups set about trying to bridge the gap between the digital and physical world, and a few stumbled on a common contraption: The ATM. Today, Bitcoin's price is well below it's historic high, but interest in the currency remains strong, and companies are trying to bring it to more investors. Brandon Mintz is the CEO of Bitcoin Depot, an Atlanta company that distributes Bitcoin ATMs across the country. Machines like his are the only places where you can use paper money to purchase digital currency. Mintz’s Atlanta-based company operates Bitcoin ATMs across the country. The machines are the only places where you can use paper money to purchase digital currency. There’s no wait time like there is online, where an exchange can take weeks to verify your identity and banking information. All you have to do is enter your name, phone number, and scan a photo ID if your purchase is more than $2,000. There are now more than 3,000 according to Coin ATM Radar, a website that maps them. But in the U.S., there is almost no federal or state monitoring of Bitcoin ATM transactions — which makes it hard to get a clear picture of who is feeding cash into these machines and why. So far, New York is the only state that requires Bitcoin ATM operators to have a license. Companies like Bitcoin Depot self-report suspicious activity to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, a bureau within the U.S. Treasury Department created to, “determine emerging trends and methods in money laundering and other financial crimes.” But they do so without independent oversight. In a statement to VICE News, Bitcoin Depot said, “Bitcoin Depot has outstanding compliance policies and strives to go above and beyond all know your customer (kyc) and monitoring requirements at its ATMs.” The ATMs themselves cost as much as $10,000, compared to a few thousand for a regular ATM. Some let you sell Bitcoin and take cash out; most don’t. Mintz estimates that his customers put tens of millions of dollars into his machines every year. Host stores can expect to make an average of a few hundred dollars a month.
