For more tech advice on your repair, or to order parts, visit http://Appliantology.org Become a certified appliance repair technician at our online school, the Samurai Tech Academy: http://MasterSamuraiTech.com In some of the older (non-HE) top-loading washers, the manufacturers preset the rinse water level to an absurdly low level in order to comply with the Energy Star requirements. The result is that clothes don't get rinsed properly and so are left with detergent residue in them. In this adventure in appliance repair, Samurai Appliance Repair Man empowers you with the technical know-how to bypass this Nanny State setting and increase the water fill level in your washer so it will actually rinse the detergent from your clothes. Fight the power! http://MasterSamuraiTech.com The intro theme music is "Neon," one of the bundled theme music clips included with iMovie. Speed queen Clothes Washer water level problem and how to fix it

03:26
Speed queen washing machines are built well but they do not fill to the top with water anymore like they used to, instead you get a weak 70% fill that won't let you get big loads like comforters clean, the top stays dry and dirty. I've heard this short fill has something to do with new government regulations placed on the manufacturers, like they did for our toilets in the 90's. I don't know if that's true or not, I don't like this partial fill so I fixed it so that it works properly. I couldn't find any documentation on how to fix this problem so here is documentation of my project for your entertainment. This should not be considered an all inclusive how to guide. This is what I did to fix mine. You might break yours, or shock yourself silly doing this so if you aren't mechanically inclined don't even think of trying this.

NNP1PC | 10 Days After Impounding Water in Re-regulation Dam

03:02
Water discharged from the Main Powerhouse will flow into the Re-Regulating Reservoir, created so that a smooth discharge of water can be released on a daily basis downstream. By storing discharged water from the Main Dam during power peaks, re-using it for domestic power generation and releasing it downstream evenly on a 24-hour basis on weekdays, the re-regulation system helps to mitigate potential environmental impacts caused by fluctuations in water level. The water can be released either directly through the Re-Regulation Dam, located 6.2 km downstream from the main dam, or through the Re- Regulation Powerhouse. The Re-Regulation Dam is a free overflow type concrete gravity dam approximately 90 meters long and 20 meters high. The Re-Regulation Powerhouse will have an 18-MW capacity, able to generate 105 GWh of power annually through a single bulb type turbine. This power station will generate energy for delivery to EDL.

water level indicator

02:17
In the power generation industry, centrailising to thermal application for energy generation, the effect of control systems plays a vital role in this controllers are required to meet the energy, environmental and safety standards of the power plant.Hence, monitoring controllers are required in these systems. For an instance in thermal power plants, there is requirement for steam flow regulation, temperature regulation etc. There comes the need of water level indicators with temperature sensor for monitoring safety limit temperature. Hence, an automated water level indicator is designed in a way that it monitors all the levels of water to be fed into the crucible for heating water. If it exceeds the crucible limit the sensor breaks the circuit for overflow alert. Similarly the temperature sensor is the safety device used in the heat tank to monitor the specified limit of temperature up to which the water has to be heated for steam generation.

How to adjust & measure home water pressure

08:53
Pressure Gauge: http://amzn.to/2esWlGw Watch the entire process and know your local codes and pressure recommendations before adjusting your water pressure. Generally you should not go above 85 psi but again that may vary based on where you live. I would just adjust it to the lowest psi you are comfortable with. In case you don't know PSI stands for Pounds Per Square Inch. The style of water regulators will vary. This one is a 3/4" WATTS brand model DU N45B M1 and the output psi range is between 25-75. If you do not know what you are doing do not attempt to adjust your water pressure. Adjusting it too high can cause damage to appliances and leaks in pipes, especially old weak ones. Surface Water Protection Program (CA Dept. of Pesticide Regulation)

04:11
The Department of Pesticide Regulation’s (DPR) Surface Water Protection Program protects human health and the environment by preventing pesticides from adversely affecting our surface waters, by addressing both agricultural and nonagricultural sources of pesticide residues in surface waters. It has preventive and response components that reduce the presence of pesticides in surface waters. The preventive component includes local outreach to promote management practices that reduce pesticide runoff. Prevention also relies on DPR’s registration process in which potential adverse effects to surface water quality, particularly those in high risk situations, are evaluated. The response component includes mitigation options to meet water quality goals, recognizing the value of self-regulating efforts to reduce pesticides in surface water as well as regulatory authorities of DPR, the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) and the Regional Water Quality Control Boards (RWQCB). Simple Water Level Sensor Using D400 Transistor In Sinhala

06:37
සරල Water Level Sensor එකක් D400 transistor එකක් භාවිතා කර සාදා ගැනීම! Water level sensors can be used for many interesting projects. Examples : -To switch a water pump on and off to fill the water tank automatically. -To gather rainfall data. Part List: D400 transistor x 1 1 kO resistor x 1 150-330O resistor x 1 LED x 1 Ic 7805 Voltage regulator Transistors consists of three pins as : *Emitter *Collector *Base 7805 regulation is used to add an extra layer of protection for the circuit. The user can directly omit the 7805 regulation part if the user can apply suitable voltage. The first circuit is a case where the presence of water will cause the led to light up 1 kilo ohms resistor is placed in series with the base pin to prevent too large base current. The 330 ohms resistor places in series with the led is to prevent too large current from flowing through the led, the probes must be selected according to the application sometimes you may need corrosion resistant probes for long term use. Functions: When the probes are immersed in water a tiny amount of current flows through water to the base of the transistor as water contains ions which are capable of conducting electricity. The collector current now gets amplified; Ic = Beta X Ib This current is controlled through a 330O resistor to avoid too high current flow through the resistor Hence this causes our led to light up. The sensor is capable of working @ 5V there for we can use this same sensor with arduino with a slight modification. we remove the led for this purpose and add a 47 kilo ohms resistor in series with the collector pin. The output is taken from the collector of the transistor which can be then read directly using the analogRead() function of the arduino. The output voltage of pin will be 5V when there is no water and 0V when the probes are immersed in water. The sensor works due to the presence of ions in the water in very small quantities,so this will not work in the case of distilled water. How Does Canal Automation Work?

02:04
Watch the short animation to find out how canal automation works. In larger systems, thousands of connected devices talk to each other using Internet of Things (IoT) technology to autonomously deliver water to users without any wastage. Not only are water losses largely eliminated but water is distributed equitably to all users and delivery flexibility and reliability is improved. A flexible and reliable supply service is needed for farmers to better meet the needs of their crops and make more efficient use of water at the farm level. Passing Data from the Water Level Sensor to Arduino

06:41
Water Level Sensor එකක සිට Arduino පරිපථයක් දක්වා දත්ත ගමන් කිරීම සරල සිංහල බසින්! The water level sensor used in this project comes from the sensor which we created in one of the previous analog electronic projects. The data sent from the sensor can be viewed and used by using the Arduino board The sensor is directly attached to an analog pin of the Arduino board. Part List: Water level sensor with d400 x 1 Arduino board x 1 Jumper wires The Sensor module made in the previous project can be powered directly with arduino or by using an external powersupply with additional 7805 voltage regulation. Data visualization: It is very important that we see that data to get some idea to understand what is going on. Arduino provides us with a tool that allow us to see the data which is termed the Serial Monitor. To use the serial monitor we require few lines of additional code. Data transfer rate of this communication is measured in bits per second (baud rate). A generally used transfer rate is 9600 bits/second. The communication is done through the USB cable of the Arduino board. Using the serial monitor: Once the code is written its very easy to use the serial monitor to see the results. Steps 1.Connect the Arduino board to the computer by using the USB cable. 2.Open the Arduino software. 3.Select the correct board and the com port from the tools menu. 4.Upload the code. 5.Open the serial monitor. Opening the Serial Monitor: There are several methods to open the serial monitor: 1.Press Ctrl + Shift + M 2.Select the serial monitor from the tools menu. 3.Click on the serial monitor shortcut. Now we need to type the code to get the water level sensor reading to the serial monitor. The sensor reading is read by using a function calledanalogRead() which accepts a single parameter which the analog pin. Ex: analogRead(A0); The Arduino board can read a value between 0 – 1023. 0 represents 0V at the A0 pin. 1023 represents 5V at the A0 pin. Upload the code and check the results by opening the serial monitor. For the ease of reading the data on the serial monitor a delay can be added to the void loop() Observe the change of readings printed on the serial monitor when the probes are immersed in water when they are taken out of water. For long term use of the sensor module use corrosion resistant probes (especially in applications where it may make a contact with drinking water this will avoid contamination). water war in tamilnadu

10:33
Cochabamba Water War, Bolivia In 1999 the US company Bechtel was granted the concession to manage water services in Cochabamba, Bolivias third largest city. The cost of water tripled and it became necessary to buy a license to access water resources and a licensing system for collecting rainwater was also introduced. After a year, 55 percent of local citizens still did not have access to water. In April 2000, hundreds of thousands marched on the streets of Cochabamba to protest against the Government, and forced it to revoke the Water Privatisation Law. The contract with the multinational company Bechtel was terminated and the water service concession re-advertised. The conflict, known as the Cochabamba Water War, became symbolic of the struggles fought to protect common rights, proving that popular participation could have a major influence on decision making in regard to the management of public services. There is a long history of peasant protests in this region characterized by a permanent shortage of water resources. In this context, the privatization of the municipal water distribution company, linked to a water transfer called Misicuni project, infuriated the local population in 2000. At the same time, at the national level, regulation of the water supply and sanitation was influenced by World Bank recommendations and the so-called Washington Consensus. The public reaction led to the formation of a Departmental Coordinating Platform for Water and Life, which which grew until the symbolic occupation of the city of Cochabamba was brutally repressed. Then,in April 2000, the Coordinadora submitted the privatizing measures to a popular referendum. The result was 90% favorable to public management. Facing such massive and permanent mobilization, the government finally decided to give up on the privatization, giving the water management to the Coordinadora (together with the considerable debt of the company). Since then, water management in Cochabamba has a public character, and it has emerged as a successful example of social movements against the advance of the water multinationals. However, there remain serious problems of supply in many areas of the city, which have been mitigated through the creation of water committees which govern the use according to community traditions. Oscar Olivera, one important leader, published in 2004 (in English translation) Cochabamba - Water War. Cochabamba 2000 came to be seen as a turning point against corporate neo-liberalism.

How to Drink Water to Lose Weight: 4 Scientific Reasons it Works

04:28
To support our channel and level up your health, check out: Our Fast Weight Loss Course: http://thehealthnerds.com/the-science-of-fast-weight-loss-course Our Better Health Basics Course: http://thehealthnerds.com/food-health-happiness Today we’re going to be talking about how to drink water to lose weight, the scientific benefits of drinking more water, and how much you should be drinking. BPA FREE water bottle (affiliate link): http://amzn.to/2dEZurX The human body on average can survive 3 weeks without food but only 3 days without water. http://www.livescience.com/32320-how-long-can-a-person-survive-without-water.html Here’s exactly why drinking water helps us lose weight. #1. It Increases Resting Calorie Expenditure In a study of overweight women, increasing one’s daily water intake over a 12 month period helped them lose an average of 4.4 pounds. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18787524 This was impressive because these women made no other alterations to their lives other than an increasing their water. In fact, people’s resting energy expenditure has been shown to increase by 24–30% within 10 minutes of drinking water. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14671205 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17519319 So drinking water naturally increases resting calorie burn. #2. People naturally eat less when they drink water. In one study, 2 groups of dieters were separated. One group drinking water before meals and one not drinking water before meals. The one’s who drank water before they ate lost 44% more weight than the group who did not. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19661958 Another study also showed that drinking water before breakfast reduced the amount of calories consumed during the meal by 13%. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18589036 #3. Water Replaces Calorie Filled Drinks Since water is free of calories, it is generally linked with reduced calorie intake. Studies have shown that people who drink mostly water in their day consume 200 less calories per day than those who do not. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16421349 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20796216 #4. Water is Muscle Fuel Your muscles are about 80% water and not surprisingly, optimal hydration is key for lean muscle growth. Seeing as the more lean muscle you have on your body, the higher your resting metabolism will be, this is another way water helps you lose weight. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3661116/ There are also other health benefits of proper water intake. Mental Alertness – One of the most common symptoms of dehydration is mental exhaustion. Proper hydration has been shown to improve brain performance. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15210289 http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0167876001001428 Improved Digestion – High water intake ensures the, uh, bowels move smoothly. http://www.nature.com/ejcn/journal/v61/n5/abs/1602573a.html Pain Prevention – Cartilage, the rubbery material coating our bones, is 85% water, and staying properly hydrated makes sure our joints move smoothly. So getting in the right amount of water is key for being healthy as well as losing weight. The best times to drink water for weight loss #1. Right when you wake up – A warm glass of lemon water in the morning helps to build a healthy habit and boost the metabolism. #2. 30 minutes before meals. This will help you naturally eat less calories and consume the proper amount of food. #3. When you are getting hungry. Our brain often confuses being hungry for being thirsty. So next time those midday cravings hit, try a glass of water before eating a snack. You’ll be surprised how often you’re not actually hungry and the brain is simply bored. How much to drink per day? You’ve probably heard the saying of drink 8 cups of a water a day, However, this number is completely random. It’s a good place to start, but water requirements depend entirely on the individual. http://ajpregu.physiology.org/content/ajpregu/early/2002/08/08/ajpregu.00365.2002.full.pdf A quick check to see how hydrated you are is to look at your urine as it should be mostly clear with a tinge or yellow and no real smell. A strong yellow color indicates you’re not hydrated enough and need more. Also be aware that drinking liquids like tea does count to your daily total. Let’s finish with a few strategies to get in more water! Buy a big BPA Free Water Bottle - This is the easier way to keep track, and I will link a good brand in the description. Rubber Bands - Wrap a rubber band around your bottle every time you drink a cup of water to keep track Add some fruit – Water can get boring for some people, and adding cucumber or other fruits helps to add some flavor to your water. Finally, if you’re still forgetting, set a reminder on your smart phone. You can do this yourself or use an app to keep track of your daily intake.

Why is homeostasis important?

02:10
Homeostasis is maintaining a constant internal environment. Cells need their environment to be just right in order for the cell to survive. In order to maintain this environment organisms need to self regulate and make adjustments. This process of self regulating is called, homeostasis. If homeostasis can be maintained then cells, and animals stay alive. If homeostasis cannot be maintained, death may occur. In order to understand what homeostasis looks like, I would like to go over three examples of homeostasis that occurs in the human body. Humans maintain a constant temperature of about 98.5 degrees fahrenheit. If it is how outside we sweat, and if we get cold we shiver. The hypothalamus of the brain receives negative feedback from the body and makes adjustments in order to keep 98.5 The body also needs to maintain a certain amount of water inside the body. Again the hypothalamus and also the kidney works together to help keep the water level constant. If you need water you get thirsty, if you have an abundance of water you urinate. Your body also regulates the amount of sugar in your blood. The pancreas helps to regulate the amount of blood in your bloodstream. Even the PH level needs to remain a constant level. Hope these examples help you understand that homeostasis is maintaining a constant internal environment.
