Ripples in a pond

02:29
Everyone knows that when you drop a small object in calm water you can see circles of ripples moving outward from the point where the object hit the water. But did you know that these ripples represent two different types of waves with significant differences in properties? These are the tiny capillary waves, which exhibit "anomalous dispersion", and the larger gravity waves, which exhibit "normal dispersion".

What is RIPPLE EFFECT? What does RIPPLE EFFECT mean? RIPPLE EFFECT meaning - RIPPLE EFFECT definition - RIPPLE EFFECT explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ A ripple effect is a situation in which, like ripples expanding across the water when an object is dropped into it, an effect from an initial state can be followed outwards incrementally. Ripple effect is often used colloquially to mean a multiplier (economics). In sociology, it can be observed how social interactions can affect situations not directly related to the initial interaction, and in charitable activities where information can be disseminated and passed from community to community to broaden its impact. The concept has been applied in computer science within the field of software metrics as a complexity measure.

Throwing Pebbles To Create Ripples Of Compassion

http://stonyhill-nuggets.com/throwing-pebbles-create-ripples-compassion/ Dick Rauscher talks about his trip with Habitat for Humanity Guatemala to build houses, smokeless stoves and latrines. I returned recently from throwing pebbles into the pond called Guatemala; pebbles that I hoped would send ripples of compassion into the world. I went on the Habitat trip with a team of volunteers to build smokeless stoves, homes, and latrines for a few Guatemalan families currently living in poverty. I went to help them, but what I discovered was my own poverty. Did You Feel A Ripple In Time-Space [2017]

03:15
Today on Turtle Tv we take a look at a recent discovery made by the LIGO facility, which detected ripples in space-time. link: TurtleTv website https://turtletv.simdif.com/index.html link: Follow on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/enlightened_turtle_/ link: twitter https://twitter.com/TurtleTv1 link: LIGO website http://space.mit.edu/LIGO/more.html Gravitational Waves: Ripples in the fabric of space-time Albert Einstein predicted the existence of gravitational waves in 1916 as part of the theory of general relativity. In Einstein's theory, space and time are aspects of a single measurable reality called space-time. Matter and energy are two expressions of a single material. We can think of space-time as a fabric; The presence of large amounts of mass or energy distorts space-time – in essence causing the fabric to "warp" – and we observe this warpage as gravity. Freely falling objects – whether soccer balls, satellites, or beams of starlight – simply follow the most direct path in this curved space-time. Just as a boat sailing through the ocean produces waves in the water, moving masses like stars or black holes produce gravitational waves in the fabric of space-time. A more massive moving object will produce more powerful waves, and objects that move very quickly will produce more waves over a certain time period. When large masses move suddenly, some of this space-time curvature ripples outward, spreading in much the way as ripples on the surface of an agitated pond. When two dense objects such as neutron stars or black holes orbit each other, space-time is stirred by their motion and gravitational energy ripples throughout the universe in a manner represented by the picture at lower right. In 1974 Joseph Taylor and Russell Hulse found such a pair of neutron stars in our own galaxy. One of the stars beams regular pulses of radio waves toward Earth. Taylor and his colleagues were able to use these radio pulses, like the ticks of a very precise clock, to study the orbit of neutron stars. Over two decades, these scientists watched for and found the tell-tale shift in timing of these pulses, which indicated a loss of energy from the orbiting stars – energy that had been carried away as gravitational waves. The result was just as Einstein's theory predicted. The discovery of Hulse and Taylor represents strong indirect evidence of gravitational waves. LIGO seeks to measure gravitational waves directly LIGO will detect the ripples in space-time by using a device called a laser interferometer, in which the time it takes light to travel between suspended mirrors is measured with high precision using controlled laser light. Two mirrors hang far apart, forming one "arm" of the interferometer, and two more mirrors make a second arm perpendicular to the first. Viewed from above, the two arms form an L shape. Laser light enters the arms through a beam splitter located at the corner of the L, dividing the light between the arms. The light is allowed to bounce between the mirrors repeatedly before it returns to the beam splitter. If the two arms have identical lengths, then interference between the light beams returning to the beam splitter will direct all of the light back toward the laser. But if there is any difference between the lengths of the two arms, some light will travel to where it can be recorded by a photodetector. The space-time ripples cause the distance measured by a light beam to change as the gravitational wave passes by, and the amount of light falling on the photodetector to vary. The photodetector then produces a signal defining how the light falling on it changes over time. The laser interferometer is like a microphone that converts gravitational waves into electrical signals. Three interferometers of this kind were built for LlGO -- two near Richland, Washington, and the other near Baton Rouge. Louisiana. LlGO requires at least two widely separated detectors, operated in unison, to rule out false signals and confirm that a gravitational wave has passed through the earth.

How to Create Realistic Waterscape Photos in Photoshop - Add Water Reflections Effect to Photos

11:21
In this photoshop & photography tutorial, i will show you how to make waterscape from scratch, with realistic water reflections and ripples in photoshop easily and quickly. ►Download PSD file: http://photoshopdesire.com/create-realistic-waterscape-reflection-effect-photoshop/ ►Download Photo to Practice: https://www.flickr.com/photos/psdesire/38242937671 First select crop tool and remove some bottom portions of a photo to add a water reflection. Now duplicate background layer, CTRL + J or CMD +J. ename the layer reflections. Go to edit, transform and Flip it vertically. Place the reflection layer, so it becomes a mirror image of the background photo. Take crop tool again and drag the bottom edge handle to retain the cropped pixels. Convert reflection layer to smart object, so we change any adjustments without destruction. Add blur to reflection. Go to filter and select motion blur. keep angle 90 degree and distance 40 pixels. click OK. Now we need to Make water ripples for reflection. Hold CTRL key and click on reflections layer thumbnail to load the selection. Add new blank layer and fill layer with white. Now add noise to the layer. Go to Filter - Noise - Add Noise, and set the Amount to maximum. Click ok. Hide reflections and background layer. Now switch to Channels. Click on the Red channel. then go to Filter - Stylize - Emboss, and set the Angle to 180 with the Height at 1 and the Amount at maximum. Do the same again with the Green channel selected, and the Angle set to 90. with the Height at 1 and the Amount at maximum. Select RGB channel and switch back to layers panel. Now go o filter gallery and select note paper effect. Keep image balance: 26, graininess: 13 and relief: 18 Next we want to stretch the lower part of the layer outwards in order to give it the correct perspective. Go to Edit - Transform - Perspective and pull the bottom corners outwards. You may notice the layer texture looks like ripple water waves. Add new blank layer above reflections layer and fill it with white. Add motion blur to the water ripples layer to get smooth wave effect. Keep angle 0 degree and distance around 30 pixels. Click OK. Merge the top two layers. Go to file menu - Save this as a .psd and name it "displacement map". Click save button with maximum compatibility Now apply the saved displacement map to reflection layer. To do that, Go to Filter - Distort - Displace and a dialogue box appears. set the Horizontal and vertical Scale to 10, Select Stretch to Fit and Repeat Edge Pixels. Click ok you will be asked to find a displacement map and select .psd image we made earlier. We successfully created a realistic water reflection effect. Finally To finish off, we’ll make some small adjustments like adding shadows, water color and haze to the image as a whole. After that create new document size for instagram and place the final photo in to the document. Resize and re-position to your liking. Save as JPEG and upload to instagram or any other social media sites. That's it. We're Done. How to Create Water Reflections With Realistic Ripples in Photoshop. Ripples in Spacetime Pond

00:26
This artist's animation shows the merger of two black holes and the gravitational waves that ripple outward during the event. The black holes—which represent those detected by LIGO on Dec. 26, 2015—were 14 and 8 times the mass of the sun, until they merged, forming a single black hole 21 times the sun's mass. One solar mass was converted to gravitational waves. In reality, the area near the black holes would appear highly warped, and the gravitational waves would be difficult to see directly. Sound Frequencies in Water: A=440 Hz & A=432Hz Using Sine, Square & Sawtooth Waves

11:58
This video is a cymatic version of Sound Frequencies in Water: A=440 Hz & A=432Hz using sine, square & sawtooth waves. It has been said that music tuned in A=432 Hz is more beautiful and harmonious to the ears and induces a more inward experience where music tuned in A=440 Hz is more outward, mental experience which is projected outwards. This test is comparing the frequencies of A=440 Hz and A=432 Hz generated using sine, square and sawtooth wave patterns.

The Ripple Effect

15:17
Our actions have reactions, whether it is negative or positive. A ripple is made when a still body of water is disturbed, and the ripples roll from the point of disturbance outwards. Our actions can cause overwhelming pain or immense joy in the lives of others whether it was intentional or not. What is the effect of your actions on the lives of others? Based on Joshua 7, the story of Achan. Correction to an error I made – the Israelites spent 430 years in Egypt, not 43. I was thinking 430 but somehow 43 came out and I didn't realise. The song in the background is Intentional by Travis Greene. I do not own the copyright for this song.
The Ripple Effect of Your Work as a Business Analyst

09:35
As business analysts, we find it really hard to communicate our value. And we often feel under-valued and under-appreciated. You know when you throw a stone in a pond and there are ripples and ripples of water that flow out from that one stone falling into the water? That’s what a ripple effect looks like. In reality, your ripple effect is huge. And your work creates a similar flow of value and transformation – much of it goes unnoticed, not just by your stakeholders but also by you. In this video, you’ll start to see more of your ripple effect, and learn some new ways to talk about your value too. An earthquake can be compared to a water drop that is suspended from a faucet and falls into a pool creating ripples. Like the drop that falls, earthquakes result from the sudden conversion of potential energy, stored elastically in rocks, to kinetic energy. Then, like the ripples on water, the released energy travels outward in all directions, including through the Earth, as seismic waves. Seismic waves propagate by temporarily deforming the ground. Sensitive instruments called seismometers can detect and record these ground changes. This visual analogy shows how the ground deformed as seismic waves spread outward from an earthquake that occurred near Wells, Nevada on February 28, 2008. To create this visual, recordings from nearly 400 seismic stations have been combined. To learn more: http://www.iris.edu/hq/waves_about
How is an Earthquake LIKE ripples from a drop of water on a pond?

01:48
This Part 1 of 2 (Like) video/animation/data visualization explores the classic seismology analogy. Earthquakes... like ripples on water? Like a droplet suspended from a faucet, then falling into a pool of water, earthquakes result from the sudden conversion of potential energy, stored elastically in rocks, to kinetic energy. This energy, in the form of seismic waves, then travels outward in all directions like ripples formed from a droplet striking water. Data, from the 2/28/08 M6.0 Wells, NV quake, shown at the end of the clip was collected by 400 seismic stations. - To see Part 2 of 2 (Unlike): http://www.iris.edu/hq/programs/education_and_outreach/animations/19 - For a full examination of the analogy: http://www.iris.edu/hq/waves_analogymap - For an associated classroom activity: http://www.iris.edu/hq/resource/waves_teacher - For more information about the data: http://www.iris.edu/hq/waves_about

The Chinese Bamboo of Digital Assets - (XRP World Powered by Ripple - Part 4)

24:20
How I grew my YouTube channel: http://bit.ly/yt_cryptobear (If I can do it, so can you!) Your tips encourage me to make more videos - http://bit.ly/xrp_tipbot https://www.xrp.video/subscribe - My codename is Bear and I'm on a mission to help you conduct independent research on Blockchain Technology, W3C, Interledger, Ripple, AI and what it means for you and the world at large. ============================ The story of the Chinese Bamboo ============================ I know it sounds a little out there but hear me out on this one. This is such a great parable. I don’t know if you’ve heard this story about the Chinese Bamboo Tree before now but this is one of those lessons that really sticks with you. The Chinese Bamboo Tree teaches us success lessons on patience, faith, perseverance, growth & development and most surprising of all… human potential! The Story of The Chinese Bamboo Tree Like any plant, growth of the Chinese Bamboo Tree requires nurturing – water, fertile soil, sunshine. In its first year, we see no visible signs of activity. In the second year, again, no growth above the soil. The third, the fourth, still nothing. Our patience is tested and we begin to wonder if our efforts (caring, water, etc.) will ever be rewarded. And finally in the fifth year – behold, a miracle! We experience growth. And what growth it is! The Chinese Bamboo Tree grows 80 feet in just six weeks! But let’s be serious, does the Chinese Bamboo Tree really grow 90 feet in six weeks? Did the Chinese Bamboo Tree lie dormant for four years only to grow exponentially in the fifth? Or, was the little tree growing underground, developing a root system strong enough to support its potential for outward growth in the fifth year and beyond? The answer is, of course, obvious. Had the tree not developed a strong unseen foundation it could not have sustained its life as it grew. The same principle is true for people. People, who patiently toil towards worthwhile dreams and goals, building strong character while overcoming adversity and challenge, grow the strong internal foundation to handle success, while those who try to get-rich-quick and lottery winners usually are unable to sustain unearned sudden wealth. ============================ Ripple's XRP - Digital Asset ============================ Ripple positions itself as a complement to, rather than a competitor with, Bitcoin - the site has a page dedicated to Ripple for bitcoin enthusiasts. Ripple is a distributed network, which means transactions occur immediately across the network - and as it is peer to peer - the network is resilient to systemic risk. Ripples aren't mined - unlike bitcoin and its peers - but each transaction destroys a small amount of XRP, which adds a deflationary measure into the system. There are 100 billion XRP at present. ========================================= Special thanks to the following YouTube Channels: ========================================= @Yahoo! The Ripple Effect of following your Heart - A thankyou to Kyle Cease

02:46
Often times we dont realise quite how much of an impact we can make on the world by actions we take. The ripple effect of doing what we love and throwing that rock out into the water so to speak has an impact! I made this recording one day spontaneously into my phone months ago when I felt compelled too. I had been thinking I should make it into a YouTube Video for a little while now, to not only thank Kyle publicly but allow others to see and be reminded that there is a ripple effect when we follow our hearts. I am so excited to be on this journey called Life and seeing where stepping into my truth and message leads me - I am my own success story! Making ripples into the world around me, as are you! Within us we have all the power we need and all the answers are like a tiny seed within us we just need to tap into. So much love to you! Please Feel free to share this! Id love that! Like and comment on this if you enjoyed it and subscribe for more videos that I feel inspired to make! What is the Ripple effect ?

00:46
A Ripple effect is a situation where, like the ever expanding ripples across water when an object is dropped into it, an effect from an initial state can be followed outwards incrementally. Examples can be found in economics where an individual's reduction in spending reduces the incomes of others and their ability to spend. A New Way To Look At The R.I.P.P.L.E Effect

03:35
http://www.completemarketingsystems.com Imagine the image of a pebble being dropped into the ocean and the beautiful ripple effect that that pebble has. Now picture yourself, the business owner, as that pebble and the ocean is your clients and prospects. When your drop your information down onto your clients your effect ripples outward to touch many lives. Think if it is when you can change something in one clients life and then they take that information and help change someone else's life you have had a small part in the changing of two lives. When you are doing this in your business you are able to change or effect the lives of all your clients and the lives of others that your clients choose to help with the information they have received from you. While you may not be saving lives like a doctor would but even making the smallest change in someone's life can be rewarding beyond compare. So the next time you think of the R.I.P.P.L.E Effect remember this Repetition In Place Produces Little Effects Somewhere.

We fixed one of the vortex cannon in a stationary position, and used a multi-axis microscope stage to align a second cannon to it… which sounds incredibly easy, until you realize that DYE density was an experiment all on its own. If the density of the dye mix was light than water, the vortex would go up. If the dye was more dense than water the vortex would fall. We had to overcome SO MANY VARIABLES to overcome and we basically spent about 4 hours figuring each variable. Water/dye temperature differential Water turbulence Water turbidity (cloudiness or haziness of a fluid) How to reset the aquarium Cannon Spacing Cannon Nozzle Cannon Shape Dye homogeneity in the vortex itself The piston displacement volume The piston stroke speed Rubber diaphragm tension, would make one side fire faster than the other. Water or air to drive diaphram? Firing speed (too slow and they drift, too fast and turbulence tears apart secondaries) We did a complete redesign of the cannon 3 different times. The Dye loading method was changed several times At times We tried to maintain negative pressure on the cannon chamber… we also tried to put shutters on the front of the muzzle. Ultimately I decided it was ok to live with dye dripping out of the front. We had to premix the dyes and eventually we got there. It got to the point where we didn’t even really know what success looked like and always thought we were there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The thought is my efforts making videos will help educate the world as a whole, and one day generate enough revenue to pay for my kids college education. Make a Ripple - demonstration

01:27
Make A Ripple (2017) is a custom kinetic sculpture. It consists of 60 moving elements that are interconnected with springs. The elements are counterbalanced rods with disks on the ends which can pivot freely on a kind of universal joint. These pivoting rods are supported by a hexagonal lattice framework that enables them to move freely. The sculpture is interactive, you can go and grab hold of the blue disks and move them around, side to side, up and down, and set things in motion. The interconnections between each of the elements and their neighbors allows for a ripple effect, where an influence that begins in one place will expand outward to other places. The impossibly vast distances made accurate measurements near impossible. But as our telescopes and our techniques improved over the past few decades, things are now different. We live in the era of precision cosmology, in which we know to stunning detail the properties that govern the very birth, evolution, and end of our universe. We talked about one of those properties in a recent episode – the Hubble constant – and about a growing conflict in its measured value which hints at strange new physics. Today we’ll talk about another measurement that may help resolve this crisis: the baryon acoustic oscillations. They the fossils of the first sound waves in the universe, imprinted in the distribution of galaxies on the sky. And in these patterns we can read the expansion history of the universe.
