Outlook 2016/2013 Password Prompt Issue - 2018 FIX

118 ratings | 63598 views
annoying Microsoft outlook 2010, 2013 or most likely 2016 issue. Where you will constantly get a popup to enter your credentials for connecting to your mail server or shared mailbox. A recent update was released for windows 10 and Office 2016, that introduces some office 365 features which now breaks authentication and causes issues. The fix as usual with any Microsoft issue is to remove the offending update or apply the easy to use registry fix HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover DWORD: ExcludeExplicitO365Endpoint value 1 I also cover some basic troubleshooting that you should always check when you see this issue - clear credential manager with any old saved credentials if you have changed your password recently - check your permissions on shared mailboxes on the exchange mail server - check outlook connection status for failed connections or established connections hope it helps, credit to reddit use for registry solution

Outlook closed ,, again open the outlook ,than again password. This system is very borrowing full for users how to solved???
Helpful Toots (2 months ago)
+Probir Protim Roy no worries not sure if you solved it but hopefully you did :) sounds like you might have an ad password policy pushed out through group policy causing your issues

+Helpful Toots thanks for tips . I am update the Web Credentials no more password. But Closed the outlook then again set the password this system. Main Problem AD(active Directory ) configuration time uses to password policy setup the server. For that reason this problem happened at this working time.

Hey Probir, if the fixed in the video does not work , you could try checking there credential manager in control panel perhaps its picking up old credentials, or goto the system tray when outlook is running hold CTRL and right click outlook icon to see connection status , from there you can check what mailbox is having authentication issues and you can double check its trying to authenticate to the correct server.

I was banging my head with this thing. Thanks a ton!
Helpful Toots (3 months ago)
Hi Krishna, not sure perhaps export the registry entry and add it as a part of the logon script, not sure if that works for your situation
Krishna Baboor (3 months ago)
The system changed the value to 0. I had to modify the value once again. Any work-around for that?
