That's a joke.. Pay apple $100 a year to build apps for them (putting in hours of work & effort) and make $18 bucks a month.

They put ads and then they earn money from the ads
king san (1 year ago)
does apple or android give money according to number of downloads without app purchase and ad .
The Swift Guy (1 year ago)
No, you are not being paid based on downloads - unfortunately:)
Why are you talking about a number of apps, not quality of them?
poppiii (1 year ago)
Егор Толмачёв he said they were basic and didn't take long.
Shabbir Ahmed (1 year ago)
Hi, do you have any tutorial on in-app-purchase, your tutorial is great source of learning
Shabbir Ahmed (1 year ago)
The Swift Guy thanks, you should as this really hot topic these days

I haven't done one yet, but might!;)
jchandler1963 (1 year ago)
I made this app: https://itunes.apple.com/app/id1253835225 but I feel like it's getting buried in the app store. I don't think it even has enough views for app analytics to say anything other than not enough data so I can't even see how many people have viewed it. I suspect it's only been my wife and family members. I'm losing hope about making more apps or improving it or the description, if no one will see it anyway.

Also, the usability looks a bit 'off putting'. You could simplify this down a lot. Also, look for niches to create an app in. Promote your app as well, try and get people to review it online, check your keywords etc
Richie J (1 year ago)
Fair enough haha
jchandler1963 (1 year ago)
Richie J Thanks for your input. You're probably right about most of what you say, I do see the irony of paying .99 to be inspired to stop spending as much. I did figure that the people who could use it the most wouldn't be those who would use a calculator to figure it out. My wife was shocked to see how much she was spending, so maybe I should just be happy if she stops spending so much 🙂
Richie J (1 year ago)
It's a cool concept but why would someone download an app to see how much coffee will cost them over the course of a few years when They could just calculate the cost of coffee times x amount of days on their calculator especially when they have to pay .99 for it. What have you done to market it ? I think your best bet would be to clean the Ui a bit and make it more modern, and make the app free but ad occasional ads. on top of that rather than just having the app say " This is how much you'll spend over x amount of time on whatever". Give them alternative options to the product their buying like better prices on the same thing in their vicinity etc, I have not looked But I'd imagine there's a Yelp api you could pull prices and ratings from. That's just my .2 I haven't really made much I'm working on a music app and I made a shitty little platform game that's made a whole $1.20 over the past couple months. Best of luck with it man.

what is the best platform to publish ios or android
Ron T (1 year ago)
There is no more money in apps for sole developers. It's over since 2013. If you where involved in this for the past 8 years you would know it. Getting in right now expecting to make money is stupid. It's all Apple's fault. They just let all the stupid apps from Asia to contempt the appstore and the most innovative well designed apps where just disappeared in the noise. I and many others lost years and years of work for nothing. I am talking about real apps, designed during a year, that no one even had the chance to see because the appstore is broken. Apple will pay for that, the good developers are gone.
whatever04 (8 months ago)
Ron T why didn't you promote it via paid advertising if you had a better, superior product?
whatever04 (8 months ago)
Jonathan Hernandez what do you want done? You could DM on youtube. I could make it for you too..

I've made only $0.48 on ad in my app called Lazy Cooker :c Actually, numbers of units are over 400.
Knuckle Dragger (1 year ago)
X apple needs to start taking less

but apple takes 30% of the final cut.
The Swift Guy (1 year ago)
Yup, you dont earn too much from ads, unless you get a bunch of active users. 0.99 apps is often times better if you want to make some money

Thank you for providing us this information! I wanted to know something else that I’ve been wondering. How or when do you have to pay taxes for this? Do you have to make less than a certain a amount in order to be forced to pay taxes?

Hey. Do you think you could make a video on how to save information a user inputs? I know you have a video on this already but in my code I'm a bit stuck (begginner coder). I love your vids and you explain them really well. Basically, how can I make it so when someone creates an account, it saves there username and password in the code and it can't be deleted if they try to make a new account or completely close the app?
Everton Carneiro (1 year ago)
Search for UserDefaults, there's a lot of tutorials on youtube.

Nice channel mate , can you write what was those apps about ? I mean you seem to ignore any one asking about that however this would be helpful information for beginner developers
The Swift Guy (1 year ago)
Hi, I get that people would be curious about it, but I really dont think there would be any benefit in me telling which apps they are. I want to encourage people to make their own apps and explore different possibilities based on their own creativity. If you are looking for inspiration though, I would look at my weekly app reviews. Best of luck with your apps!:)
Based2G (1 year ago)
how do you know if you could be copyrighted for have ideas similar to others? i worry i will upload something and be sued
Richie J (1 year ago)
Research what you plan on making prior to making it and see if it bears a striking resemblance to something else. Unless you have a cut and paste of someone else's app etc you don't have to worry if it's different. They can have similar functions so long as they are not identical.
skeche (1 year ago)
how much knowledge in coding did you have when you decided you would start making apps?
The Swift Guy (1 year ago)
For beginners, I offer my Udemy course. That will set you up for being able to follow all of my tuts;)
skeche (1 year ago)
thanks for the reply, so you are implying that these tutorials or coding aren't really for beginners and requires enough knowledge in coding to a certain point. A beginner wouldn't be able to turn ideas into an app.
The Swift Guy (1 year ago)
I started making apps the second I was able to start turn my ideas into an app. That is the simple answer:)

Miss CityFix (1 year ago)
Hi thanks for the video. I started making sticker apps mainly in Jan and put out around 90 that month. I've been just focused on putting out apps so have completely ignored promoting. Do you have any tips on integrating promoting, I've had a few ideas like utilizing iftt and setting & connecting all social media accounts and just putting out one post each app launch. I came across a source code for iMessage sticker apps the has email capture and thought of redoing everything in this code so I could send out weekly emails to users. Thank you for putting out these videos I'm really enjoying them.
The Swift Guy (1 year ago)
Hi, I dont have any great secret promotional tactics. I focus mainly on targeting niches/keywords. Other than that building up an online presence and promoting to your friends/followers is something that can work well.

Zlatan Mustacevic (1 year ago)
Hey everyone, the best info that ive had was by using the App Cash Crusher (i found it on google) - without a doubt the best idea i've seen.
Teleanu Cristina (1 year ago)
There are several components to paid app sites. One resource I found that succeeds in merging these is the Kevins App Oracle (check it out on google) definately the most incredible plan that I have ever seen.Check out the awesome information .

Do you have any tutorials on (a) integrating ads, (b) implementing them ... putting them in with Xcode, etc., or (c) how much revenue you can expect from ads?
The Swift Guy (2 years ago)
No, I haven't got any tutorials on that yet. When it comes to how revenue you can make with ads, I am not the best person to ask. I just haven't been using ads consistently as a way to monetise my apps. I would give it a Google;)
Chilly Bean (2 years ago)
With single page? really ... this is motivating ... will stickers be good too? Thanks for sharing
Mustafa Ahmedani (2 years ago)
I have not, no, however I know a few people that do and they say the turnover isn't so good.
The Swift Guy (2 years ago)
Have you got one published?
Mustafa Ahmedani (2 years ago)
Working on a sticker pack right now. Not really as big of a profit with stickers as with real apps, but it's still okay. Stickers are better for beginners in my opinion.
The Swift Guy (2 years ago)
Hi, I am not sure about sticker packs as I haven't published any to the App Store yet
RAJOUL TubaLilGuraba (2 years ago)
Hi What are your apps that you were submitted in app store?
Jenny Makula (2 years ago)
Well that's encouraging. Can you do a tutorial on how to set up in app purchases? Also, are there any tips on how to make your apps more visible once uploaded to the app store?
The Swift Guy (2 years ago)
There are a couple of things you have to pay attention to in order to get your app downloaded. Publish your app under a search term that people are actually searching for. Optimize your title and your tags for that search term

Could you please make a quick tutorial how to get our apps downloaded locally to our phones to show friends and family before it's submitted to the AppStore thanks! Keep up the great videos (:
Louis Burkhardt (1 year ago)
Have the phone connected to the computer that is running xCode. It will show up under Product > Destination (and Window > Devices) in xCode 8.
Indigo Lily (1 year ago)
The Swift Guy but how do you make your physical iphone the simulator?
The Swift Guy (2 years ago)
All you do is run the app in xCode, using your phone as the simulator:)
