Graphene is a form of carbon that could bring us bulletproof armor and space elevators, improve medicine, and make the internet run faster — some day. For the past 15 years, consumers have been hearing about this wonder material and all the ways it could change everything. Is it really almost here, or is it another promise that is perpetually just one more breakthrough away?

One application for the wearable fabrics would be graphene embedded clothing to make prisoner jumpsuits out of that have built-in tasers so prison riots would be a thing of the past. Another thing, Doctors can have a patient have a wearable shirt that would monitor heart rate, respiratory, blood pressure, and other vital signs to monitor them 24/7 from their own home
Thickness of a material is critically important in how it reacts in a molecular way. Everything changes Conductivity, Flexibility, Durability. Glass for example will flex like human hair when pulled thin enough. I can't tie a Glass Knot yet but I am working on a Glass Spring. It doesn't work as well as a metal spring but It could still function a small range like for a mechanical pencil.
Yes, I'd like to know about the mystery substance which occupies the cranial cavities of many politicians today. They seem to be lacking conductive pathways and/or neuro-transmitters & receptors in the prefrontal cortex. Sorry, couldn't resist. ☺
World is governed by the syndicates, metal and polymer industry will just get wiped out if any thing like graphene come out in the market overnight. So just sit back and relax, one day graphene will be there.
They already got your money. There’s GOOD money in showing a product, collecting money to make said product, then buying an island in the Bahamas. Just look at Kickstarter. They collect the money and bail, then 10 years later you change your name and repeat.
As an engineer, I always start with, "free lunches are extremely rare". So my questions are: 1. how much energy would go in to its creation? Hopefully not so much as to cancel out its mass and size benefits. 2. is there any harm to the environment in its creation? If there are a lot of chemical waste products, for example, that can cancel a lot of the benefits. 3. Is it toxic? While graphene sheets may be benign, are there powdery excesses which can enter your lungs/alveoli, or the food chain?
A bit like teflon was going to take over the world - grow veg in your garden and let the scientists stew in their own information - because that is all we ever get INFORMATION - thanks for this top up of more useless information
How long does it take to biodegrade? So I don’t like last seasons trousers with graphene added will they now sit on a tip for the next 300 years? Amazing material but the plastic analogy is really interesting, think pacific gyre but worse maybe...? 🤔
clothes covered with graphene is about to revolutionize the way people wear their clothes. You won't have to buy a mobile or a computer in the future. Only a T shirt and pants covered with graphene will do the trick.
Funny how they call out their colleague for over-hyping the material, in a video that is meant to preserve the hype for the material and the same guy who calls out his colleague, says "it is like it floats in the vial" seriously? it "floats" in the vial? :D ...
It only needs patience. Development is on the way. Experiments takes time. Sometimes there are ethical issues that hold scientists back from doing their work. But at least we are on the correct path. Promising technology is only the begining
Plastics destroyed the environment before we even realised it, pretty sure the same thing will happen with graphene in the future... we get all hyped up about new technologies and don’t even think of long terms😐
can graphine be used in vehicle mechanics without losing the efficiecy of vehicles?Just meant that its lighter so can reduce the total mass and hence contribute to more speed and acceleration ......just thoughts
graphene no matter how revolutionary, falls victim to the established quo. few will move in earnest towards graphene until someone with high enough status makes a move into the technology, green lighting the shift from established technology like carbon fiber which has the backing of a global financial base. If Apple debuted a product and highlighted their use of Graphene to enhance it greatly, competitors would immediately invest in adopting the technology as well, and in little time the whole industry segment will adopt it, not to mention the trickle down effect into other industries looking to take advantage of its benefits. But until something like that happens, no matter how good, few will invest in the R&D.
Pixel event in ?2 sentences - Basically they release a useless Google home hub that only rich people would buy, but they made a pretty dope tab--laptop? Anyways they release the ugliest phone I have ever seen with a new color that is kinda dope... And the camera is sick.
