Graphene is a form of carbon that could bring us bulletproof armor and space elevators, improve medicine, and make the internet run faster — some day. For the past 15 years, consumers have been hearing about this wonder material and all the ways it could change everything. Is it really almost here, or is it another promise that is perpetually just one more breakthrough away?

If you combine Graphene with spider silk you could make body armor that's light, flexible, and could stop a bullet better than any Kevlar. Then add electronics to it and you could make it like Harry Potter's invisibility cloak.
That sounds wonderful! I'm curious how it would effect the environment. Plastic hasn't exactly been the revolution in stability of ecosystem. I would assume that because graphene is made of carbon it would dissolve easier, but I'm not sure.
it's more than carbon. it's eumelanin only found in black people. they are killing us, extracting it, stealing corpses, kidnapping us, etc to get it for this tech. you people make me sick. the creator is going to kill all of you..........slowly and painfully. i will be laughing. it's only a few years away........at most.
Maybe eventually, but right now, we're Ooh-ing and Ahh-ing at the news that MIT has been able to make strips of it a couple of meters long. Maybe in a few more years, after it can be churned out in big reels.
Replacing "heavyweight" chains and cables would require a few thousand layers, but it could be done. And with that many layers, it wouldn't stretch much.
+Billy b oh yes, there is. It's called carbon capture. Bill Gates is investing a lot into this. It's one of the only real options we have, as getting everyone to stop producing CO2 is impossible. So we could use carbon capture technologies to get rid of CO2. It will cost a bit of money, but it can be done.
We already have direct carbon in the form of graphite - which we can work with to create graphene. All the bonds are the exact same, except for the covanet bonds between the layers. It will always be more expensive to make it out of CO2 even if it were possible.
But in science you never know..
Mysterio 10666 fun fact certain types of plastic can be consumed by certain types of caterpillars spinning them and other materials that are biodegradable I do understand for them to do it it takes a long time and there's too much plastic but we can try to reduce the plastic we make by recycling and not throw plastic away and possibly even just reusing
chris utter dome? I believe you mean atmosphere graphene is very strong and resist many temperatures it's really useful though for the fact that there's a lot of pressure that gets pushed onto you whenever you're trying to go up the earths atmosphere with graphing you're much lighter so you don't have to use the same amount of fuel
So you can go longer and you can use the same out of your meeting go much farther than you could before
Some how I feel like this is a rare honest science reviews I've watched in a while. Most of these science videos talks about a modern invention like it's something that would turn the human society into Kryptonian race or something. In real these task a huge amount of time.
This. Exactly. Probably the REAL reason why graphene hasnt become a standard in manufacturing in this consumer driven culture.. so true..and sad. Just goes to show how YTƎIƆOƧ has become, and its values.
Napi Coyote oh contrary actually a very strong carbon structure like diamonds and you could see diamonds or dirt as they're made of carbon dirt and pains carbon but it's more than just basic carbon it's a strong which-year-old it's very good for contacting electricity you like you said in the video in as many multi purposes
+Big Doi Thank you so much! I suppose I'm already cheating by having a phone on me at all times and a digital watch, but things like circuitry tattoos and cybernetic implants and wearables worry me because, at least on some level, we are energetic beings as well as material, and I worry about messing up the sensitive electromagnetic and bioelectrical bodies we naturally have!
What is it that most excites you about the technology? Have a fantastic weekend and maybe Easter with loved ones ^^
datnoddy oh? I believe there is space considering we are in it it is very best in graphing is very good fit because we can send spacecraft out that go for long and longer in a stronger using graphing because it will last stronger now have a great day!
Nene Stylez well I've heard of electronic clothes but they do make wearable electronica tattoos that would look really nice PS they're only temporary so you don't have to go through a whole entire long painful experience
