My car wouldn't accelerate anymore while driving then it turned off, but then i turned it back on with no problem. What might've caused this? Also, sometimes it takes a couple cranks to get it running and it shakes for a couple seconds after being turned on at times.
I have a 04 f150 with the v6 in the morning I have to cycle keys on an off a couple times before I crank it to get it to start and sometimes through our day as well what could this be is it likely the pump?
Hi Chris, thanks for the video but it does not address my problem. I wonder if you have run into this before. I had my fuel pump changed and right away it started to have ignition problems. Everything runs fine when the gas tank is above half full but as soon as the fuel goes under half full and the car sits idle (like over night) the car needs two ignitions to get going. My mechanic replaced the fuel pump again (under warranty) but it still does the same. If I leave the ignition on for 10 seconds then it starts right away. There must be a slow leak in the system but I am not sure how I can trace it down. For what it's worth this is a 2002 VW Eurovan.
I have a 2001 kid Sophia..it seems to havebtrouble going higher than 40 miles per hour, the engine seems to worker harder, kind of racing, loud sound that seems as though the engine will break down. I believe it needs the spark plugs, boots and wires replaced. the fuel filer may need to be replaced. the emissions switch may need to be replaced.
please let me know what you think could be problem with it.
I have a 2001 mustang gt very similar to this mustang and I been having fuel/crank issues and when I went to check the fuel sensor I only heard 1 click and not multiple clicks so do you think the fuel relay sensor could be bad?
Hi, this is actually Tiffany's son writing this. I have a future car build plan written down on two sheets of paper(more like drawn)in an envelope son I hope I can build it with you Chris fix, I hope you can help me build a project car.(LIKE A BOSS)
Had an issue on my Camry where the fuse was good, and the broken part was good, but the connection for the fuse was loose so it wasn’t properly seating the fuse. I think all I did was clean it up and pinch it back together and then it was fine.
I was thinking mine needed a fuel pump but it sounds like the pump turns on. The car runs for a good while then it’ll eventually die while I’m driving. Anyone have any idea why it would do that?
I have a 2001 mustang
Thank u never done any thing like this but getting ready to go buy ones to try to do it on my own never worked on card but Little stuff but this is all I have to to drive so it got to get fixed ty u so much for ur vd
As an amateur electronic technician/mechanic, I can promise you that was the wrong method of using a multi-meter to check for voltage. You placed the meter in series when you went across the fuse
Hello! Do you know why my 2000 Toyota Corolla stalls out every time I get gas at the station? It starts on the second try!
I already replaced the fuel pump, fuel pump relay, evap canister, mass air flow sensor, new exhaust system and purge solenoid valve! Thank you
I just had a brand new fuel pump and fuel filter put on my 2000 blazer in Sept and it fixed the problem. As of yesterday 10/27/18, my truck wouldn't start. I figured it was the cold but when I went to use some starter fluid it still wouldn't start. Does this seem like its a electrical issue?
Hey Chris. Love your videos and love cars too!, I Live in México and I enjoy watching these videos, Just registered to post this... This Video helped me diagnose my car Its a Grand Am GT 2001, and I had the same problem with the fuel pump. Thanks to this video I managed to diagnose and get it replaced. Thanks a lot.
Hey chris I cant find my fuel pump relay on my 96 gt. I dont think it's in the same spot. I'm hoping this Is the problem. It starts with starter fluid, no fuel came from the shrader valve, however when in the on position the pump primes and vibrates. Inertia switch is activated...
I own a 1994 Honda Civic. When it is cold outside or there is humidity due to rain my fuel pump does not activate. I have changed the main fuel relay. The fuses are all good. I don't know what it can be.
Do you have a video and if not can you make one on how to diagnose a car that cranks to long before it starts we found some videos talking about it but there not really going threw the steps during the diagnostic to find out the problem the truck we have is a 1998 ford expedition 2 wheel drive. I love your videos you do a great job getting really detailed. I'm learning alot
Check your fuel pressure. If when you turn the key and he pressure jumps up and then drops fast, your fuel pump needs to be replaced because the check valve is bad. It could also be the fuel pressure regulator. Watch “how to test fuel pressure”.
I just picked up a 95 mustang that runs like it isnt getting fuel, rough idle and hesitation/sputtering till idle picks up, (also will not restart till it cools down) unless somebody has a better idea? I also believe I need to find a coolant leak...
Some Videographers just click. As your anticipation builds as the work completes, I too felt the excitement that soon (one way or another) that our work will advance the human cause! Great technical skills in film and Diagnosis, amazing clarity. My highest compliment is that one be clear. Thank you sincerely. So good I subscribed before the vid finished. Lawson di Ransom Canyon
hey man, i have an old car same like yours but not sport, i do need to exchange my fuel pump from the old to the new one but i don't have enough courage to do it, cause i'm afraid that it might burn my car so, your the master mechanic so can you help me with this?, i'll be glad if you do it.
Awesome and informative. I have an 04 that I started yesterday, it ran for about 30 seconds, sputtered and stopped. I checked the engine bay fuse and rear emergency shut-off - both good. I still need to check the relay on the D/S fuse block but I hear no fuel pump power with ignition on.
I usually power up the ignition and let it pressurize before I start just so I can hear the pump, but no sound from it now. Car only has 57K miles.
I figured it would last longer with so few miles.....
Hey. My Dad and I replaced the fuel pump assembly in my Dad's '98 Jeep TJ at home in our garage. Check engine light was on, fuel pressure was low, and the buzzing from the fuel pump was low pitched, and the engine ran sluggish. Now Check engine light is off, runs much better, and sounds better. Thanks Chris! Our Jeep is now running better.
Great video Chris.
I went ahead to follow your every step and right at the beginning, at the fuse box I got like 0.2 volts. I can’t hear the fuel pump either, and got no voltage at the wire socket at the fuel pump. Even disconnected the fuel return line and placed it into a bottle, so I turned the key and no fuel poured out. I’m taking the pump off to get it tested tomorrow. But I see I have no current even at the fuse box, what do you recommend?
Update: it was the relay, even though it passed my test, as soon as I replaced it car started just fine. It ran all day today, even if you didn’t directly help me, your videos sure encouraged me to solve the problem myself, thank you, honestly.
Hey Chrisfix I have to do the same job on my 02 Mustang. The fuel pump crapped out right after i filled my tank. I attempted to siphon the gas out but there is a anti tamper device in my filler neck that's stopping me from doing so. It seems like I have to drop the tank with it full and carefully siphon out the gas threw the fuel pump hole. Is there a better way? Thanks
Ok I hope you reply to this comment, my car suffers when starting it takes too long to start and sometimes it starts quickly, I don't hear that "hiss" sound, but at the end the car starts with some vibration before idling normally, it also lost its acceleration, could it be the fuel pump?
